I know dampening the strings helps prevent extraneous noise from creeping into your solos, but I've found that just setting a noise gate right and then "not thinking about it" when you play can also eliminate string noise. It kinda seems that if you worry about string noise you make it, and if you don't, you don't.

Hey Carlo, been a long time fan. But pleaaaaaase don't forget that creating music isn't about playing the fastest or sickest solo out there. Don't get me wrong, it sounds incredible when you play fast, but be sure you get the feeling of the song across, like Joe Satriani.
