  • I`m not a teacher but I know teachers & there`s another side to this story. Sometimes good teachers go to the bad schools & lose their love for teaching b/c the students/parents are so bad & violent. What good teacher wants to go from a nice neighbhorhood to a school where they`re cursed, looked dwn on, & threatened? Where instead of teaching they have to stop fights every day? Parents have to be better parents by sending better kids to school if they want good teachers.

  • @paisleyyama. It's a very narrow minded point of view that equates bad behavior to bad students. I wonder if your parental style reflects this. How freeing it must be to believe that you share no responsibility when it comes to your child's behavior. Students do not fail teachers, teachers fail students.

  • @porterart Sometimes teachers fail students. Sometimes parents fail children, and sometimes students fail themselves. So you think bad behavior makes good students? I can`t agree. Part of going to school is maturing into a responsible adult. Bad behavior will never get anyone anywhere in life. We can`t make excuses for bad behavior.

  • and hate freedom of speach

  • hey google, we know u work for the government, we also know your guy at google are all for the nwo, and internet censorship.

  • Nice idea but try (roulettecash . net) This bulletproof gambling system earns up 200 to 500 USD daily.

  • Jeff is the man! Someone needs to stand up and do something positive, especially for people who the rich care about the least. He's so right. The people I know who went to college are doing well. The ones who didn't are literally homeless or just ok.

  • Education is all about the environment. A violent neighborhood is not a good environment for eduction. Violence occurs because someone feels it is necessary or the punishment isn't severe enough. Prisons should be the closet thing to hell on earth. The morality is simple, if you do something unjust you forfeit your rights to live in a just world. Keep packing criminals in and cut prison funding. Use the extra money for law enforcement and education.

  • @5auce Recent history shows that fire with fire is not successful in the inner city .

Yes , although its tough to deliver learning in these areas ,those are exactly the places that need it most . Prisons are not a deterrent for these kids minds with nothing to lose. Its not the Warden or rules that make prisons Hell ,its other prisoners . Its pointed out in the movie how educated kids Early will steer them away from becoming a stereotype , and Save us millions on "adult correction" .

  • Much of this speech applies to many countries around the world, including mine.

  • Great guy! I hope he gets what he wants, because it is what people need!

  • This speech was really inspirational. I do the children who are too poor cannot reach their full potential. I think they should be able to catch up to atleast the point of the lazier rich children. That may not be the solution, but it's a first step. The problem has no instant solution, but if the hard working children catch up to rich lazy kids, they will improve the lives of their future children. I would love to work for this sort of organisation, but I'm just 18 with medium education

  • But yet it feels good to handle that little piece of paper. Doesn't it ? Because we can't go on with throwing our past away. Can we. I "hope" technology will not replace a teddy bear in the hands of kids. But helps them to get out of fear and misery but not amuse them... Away.

  • Anyone has a link to the superman video they talk about in this video?

  • Where's the video they're talking about?

Brilliant speech. So much truth. If you're not good at teaching children, stop.

  • I use technology as much as I can in my classroom. 95% of the information and work I do is with Google Apps Education Edition. Thanks Google

  • One minor quibble:

It's pretty damn easy to collect data on students.

It's not so easy to collect -useful- data. Children are not uniform. And the whole learning process is a little mysterious.

And every teacher is unique. It's as difficult to teach a teacher how to teach as it is to teach an actor to be a Hollywood superstar.

  • I hate how people down-rate this just because it's long. It's supposed to be long, that's the point.

  • A children's zone makes So. Much. Sense.

We need it in every poor neighborhood in America.

  • Wow... awesome speach!

  • YGGG!

  • uhhhhhhh
