Aside from all the bullshit on the internet following this movie, I'll say it was a genius marketed movie and it scared the hell outta me and my daughter. I'll definately purchase the sequels. My kinda movie. Low budget big profit movies don't come along very often. Example Blair Witch Project was a good flick back in the days.

okay everyone if you do some more research into the movie it will tell you that this movie isn't real but all of the things that happen in both 1 and 2 have happened in real life and they took experiences that people have had so everything in these movies has happened to someone before so that proves to you that these things do happen and the whole cast in other interviews talk about this and that this can definitely happen!

This movie scared me half to fucking death. When i was young i tampered with a oujia board (kids, leave the dead ALONE), in a sort of naive reaction to all the mystery surrounding the paranormal world like a typical ignorant non believer (similar to most of you).
Now ive had terrifying shit happen to me that was 100% real, some of it mirrored some of the early scenes of this movie, but the worst part of all is when a haunting becomes a personal attack, which also happened to me.

@normansmother1 I'm Canadian but I live in America...and yes, quite a few of them scream for no apparent reason, in movie theaters. It's really annoying. Then again, I know quite a few Canadians who also do....but not as loud and over the top. I actually felt that they didn't overdo it in the second one with special effects, considering their budget. I liked and appreciated that they didn't pull a "blair witch 2" on us.
@normansmother1 Yeah, that's the thing...I like the concept a lot. I was really expecting to be somewhat freaked out. But maybe the ridiculous reactions of the people in the theater ruined the experience for me (they screamed randomly when they THOUGHT something was going to happen, but of course nothing did) I'm planning on watching it in my house, with all of the lights off, possibly alone...I'm sure I won't be able to sleep haha hopefully it'll be awesome/terrifying.

I have seen tons of horror movies, from a lot of different eras. This one just didn't do it for me.
Paranormal Activity is based on a rea-life occurance in the director, Oren Peli's house. He was sleeping one night when he was awakened by a loud bang. It turned out to be a box of detergent had "fallen" or "been pushed" from a shelf. The eerie thing about it was the box was pushed too far back to just tilt & fall!......who knows?

thinking that anybody could be katie roaming the streets, that that homeless lady roaming under the freeway overpass, ooooohhh creepy. naw but for real, cool experience, i like when they say its absolution real when it absolutely isn't, allows the audience to believe things that we normally wouldn't accept as realistic because we r told the movie is just that, reality. good job, too bad the other ones wont have the same "REAL" effect.

ya they did a good job on the movie. i live in san diego n saw one of the midnight shows, at that time it was still foolishly but widely believed to be real so it defenitely had a much more intense effect since we r living in the setting of the movie, especially since i live in the bay park n clairemont are of san diego, which is where it appears the movie takes place, even though that is where they say they are, might be nowhere near san diego. every in the theatre left unkempt

I just finish watching it, it's definitely a whole new level of fear movie is projecting...the kind I want to put the volume down when the couple experience night activity.... I don't think I am going to sleep now haha..Last time I was scared of a horror movie was back in 2002-2003 .I was beginning to wonder when I am going to be scared again.. I guess I was tired of the epic murder killing a blond girl..and the brunette survives haha..

@normansmother1 I'm Canadian but I live in America...and yes, quite a few of them scream for no apparent reason, in movie theaters. It's really annoying. Then again, I know quite a few Canadians who also do....but not as loud and over the top. I actually felt that they didn't overdo it in the second one with special effects, considering their budget. I liked and appreciated that they didn't pull a "blair witch 2" on us.

@normansmother1 Yeah, that's the thing...I like the concept a lot. I was really expecting to be somewhat freaked out. But maybe the ridiculous reactions of the people in the theater ruined the experience for me (they screamed randomly when they THOUGHT something was going to happen, but of course nothing did) I'm planning on watching it in my house, with all of the lights off, possibly alone...I'm sure I won't be able to sleep haha hopefully it'll be awesome/terrifying.

@normansmother1 I promise you. I have loved horror movies since the age of 4. Tons of blood does not scare me, at all. Being completely creeped out, that is just excellent. If a movie can creep me out, and give me the chills, then it is an excellent horror film. I promise you, this movie did NOT scare me. I went into the theater expecting to be scared and I just wasn't. I have seen tons of horror movies, from a lot of different eras. This one just didn't do it for me.

Paranormal Activity is based on a rea-life occurance in the director, Oren Peli's house. He was sleeping one night when he was awakened by a loud bang. It turned out to be a box of detergent had "fallen" or "been pushed" from a shelf. The eerie thing about it was the box was pushed too far back to just tilt & fall!......who knows?
