Taekwondo is great but not practical. Why put yourself in such a risk with a move like a roundhouse kick. While all you can do is just a straight kick to the head???
Shin Ushikoshi is only 18. He isn't even a dan and its his first fight. I can show you several videos where Taekwondo wins over Muay Thai. More so than Muay Thai winning over Taekwondo.
Changpuek has 4 years experience, he's 27 years old, he's 10cm taller and 15kg heavier than Shin Ushikoshi. So ofcourse changpuek won. Not because he practices Muay Thai, but because he was the better fighter. Keep in mind, he lost to Andy Hug.
I rember watching a Muay thai match where one fighter trained TKD in the past, but is competing only Muay thai. He dominated the other Muay thai fighter with round house and back kicks, ofc he knew how to punch and how to take hits through "real" sparring.
@Kikuyo2 Of course... TKD + Muay Thai is better than just Muay Thai... You have side kicks, spinning back kicks and fast kicks in TKD. And the big problem is, if you know Muay Thai and TKD (like I do), I don't know if you're going to throw a fast TKD kick or a hard Muay Thai kick... That randomness can really screw with a pure Muay Thai practitioner. TKD kicks are fast and kinda weak, but if you don't know, you have to try and block it as if it was Muay Thai kick.
@elmusbar well from what i understand punches are considered the weakest form of striking, kicks are for softening the opponent, elbows and knees are the more devastating forms of attacks although i may be thinking of burmese boxing.
Muay Thai Boran has more stronger and more dangerous than Muay Thai .Because in our hisory Muay Thai Boran use to kill the enemy in the battlefield.Every attack aim to kill them as soon as they can
TKD dude has no guards against a Muay Thai fighter ffs. That said don't know why Muay Thai guy didn't just keep walking forward and punch the head off him. Simples!!
i just wonder if that taekwondo man really worth for black belt, he seems look like deserve just for yellow belt, cuz which i have known about black belt taekwondo man, he is really strong not look like that shit.. always falling down even the muaythai man didnt touch him..
@gesh0909 The TKD fighter is clearly wearing a blackbelt and a red sash. His name is Shin Ushikoshi and I do know very much about him and he was supposed to be the TKD ITF champ. The Thai fighter is Changpuek Kiatsongrit and he fought (and won against) in 1993.the best his generation had to offer on 1993.and next vid you should see is "Changpuek Kiatsonrit Vs Rick Roufus" in 1988.It's about time Muay thai go to the world officially. no blackbelt from peanut jar at that time
Hahaha! I knew the tkd guy was gonna get his ass kicked before I even saw it. You can see them tkd-kicks comming a mile away! BTW why aint they using their punches som more??
That guy gives tyquando a bad name I've been in a lot of tournaments against people that fight using muai Thai and I've never lost any of those fights that guy disgraces martial arts everywhere
Wrong? Not really. You see both are asians no matter what. Bucketheads, japs, flips, thai, etc. They're all chinks. Here we have two chinks fighting different styles, one tae and the other muay. Is this case the asian with the buckedhead technic got pwnd. Capisce?
@IauthenticI Ha now your resorting to racism???? You are a perfect example of a pathetic human being. I was talking about how the TKD fighter was a junior and the Muay Thai fighter is a trained master of Muay Thai and you change the subject to "Oh they're chinks"?? You fucking racist cunt. @Rikashiku Changpuek is a Thai kickboxer in MuayThai style. He is credited as one of the first MuayThaifighters to go abroad and fight against other martial arts styles and kickboxers at heavyweight even though he was a middleweight fighter 70kg, bringing to the world the effectiveness of MuayThai. He has memorable victories against famous fighters in Us & EU such as Rick Roufus,Rob Kaman. He was also a K-1,He weighed 70 kg and would often fought opponents that heavier than himself.
@SloveniaHardCore91 Did you miss the part where I mentioned his name. Justin Bieber looks 12 but it turns out that he's 17. Changpuek was 27 years old in this fight and already has 4 years fight experience. :D.
@Rikashiku This is K1 Illusion 1993 Karate World Cup. Under Kyokushin Karate rules no punches to the face where knees, elbows and clinch is not allowed! So, MuayThai had a great disadvantage. TKD guy is Shin Ushikoshi/ITF-TKD/175cm/75kg, MT guy is Changpuek Kiatsongrit/MuayThai/173cm/70kg.Ushikoshi must be Zainichi-Korean because all J audience were cheering up Changpuek. He wore blackbelt+red sash against fairytail teller's stories here. In the next match,Shin is the best Tkd at that time.
This taekwondo fighter is the worst taekwondo figher I've ever seen. I wonder who gave him black belt (at least) III dan when his fighting skills are below green belt abilities?
taekwondo is pretty useless man. In Taekwondo tournaments, they use their HEADS to lure opponent's kicks. In any real life fighting situation, nobody would ever put their head in the front to bait.
@ikcjjtt but seems like TKD is probably the most useless since its rules are no punching, and using one's own head, the most vital part of the body to lure incoming blows.
@startingsprinter whats the point in comparing a bunch of empty handed martial sports? MMA proves its a good idea to be well rounded. But no punching just makes them inexperienced with punching, kyokushin has similiar rules, and it does well. Nothing a little boxing wont fix. As for attack by drawing (luring blows), is an advanced strategy. high level martial artist do it all the time. especially boxers.
@ikcjjtt but luring blows with your head only works if punches are not allowed. This strategy commonly used by TKD makes this style of martial art only useful in a TKD-only sport, because in fighting sports that include hands (pretty much every fighting sports besides TKD) using your head to lure blows is suicidal. And of course learning other hand combat techniques may fix it, but their habit often remains.
@startingsprinter creating openings is not a suicide, its a strategy and the point is to get the guy to attack the open target so u can counter. U act as if luring will get u hit. the point is to lure them there for a counter while NOT getting hit, like a trap. boxers do it to. The point is to draw the attack, dodge, and counter. Its thinking ahead of the opponent, not putting your head out there just to be hit for no reason.
@ikcjjtt Neither is Muay Thai or MMA because they're sports too. The difference between Taekwondo and Combat Sports is that it also teaches Self Defense and Military.
If he got just ONE perfect kick to the head, he would probably have knocked the other guy out, but he didn't, and the Muay Thay fighter took all the advantage he could from his missed kicks.
meh.... this is like a Bud light and a Cervesa Negra duel... The TKD player obviously is not a prize fighter. The muay Thai boxer simply lives on this sport as bread and butter... not a good match.
@truknayr23 The TKD fighter is clearly wearing a blackbelt and a red sash. His name is Shin Ushikoshi and I don't know much about him but I think he was supposed to be the TKD ITF champ. The Thai fighter is Changpuek Kiatsongrit and he fought (and won against) in 1993 the best his generation had to offer on 1993.and next vid you should see is "Changpuek Kiatsonrit Vs Rick Roufus" in 1988.It's about time Muay thai go to the world officially. And Japanese promoter founded Kickboxing ,S-cup.history
I practiced tkd, what I learned was to defend myself and to know that there is good and bad people in every branch of martial arts, I got bored because there are more people who like the show, I liked learning ami legs that were useful in street fights and championships in this fight, the fighter does tkd kicking show and makes generating 0 of harm, for my taste there is no martial art fighters and bad bad but there is nothing to do about it. greetings from chile
@2cool0 He was kicked at the first second he can't bouncing and kicks anymore btw he is a TKD pro at that time,he has a lion-heart dare to fight with Muay Thai fighter.Oh there were many vid like this in quickly speed.Search it up.hope that help
hahahahaha.. omg. i'm TKD student too but i'm just a green belt... but this guy like a yellow belt he's not ready to compete yet, it's too dangerous. you might get hurt bad...
pretty much how i expected. TKD kicks are weaksauce compared to the power of muay thai kicks. this is comming from someone who has practiced both styles.
@gutelaunetyp probably because the mechanics of the kicks are different. I do Taekwondo too and the kicks are not weak, it really depends ont he person but there is less momentum, more chambering which increases speed but reduces power while in muay thai they use brute force. But im probably wrong.
@pkhamidar2com no your right. i didnt mean to hate on tkd. its great system. i was just trying to say that you can really see the difference in power between these two fighters.
@gutelaunetyp Ok,I tell you a top secret.Bahaha Bouncing kicks can not produce a hard kick but it's beautiful and fancy.Ok,Open toe, rotate your shoulder and hip leave your another leg on the ground which can make the hardest kick in the world.aim to the legs, ribs ,neck anywhere on the opponent body.(Bam on the ground) Searh the hardest kick in the world on Youtube. No,i'm not talking about knees elbows, clinch, takedown.hope that help.
@Nanayification The TKD of before were used by Korean troops to kill - not the faggotty art of today. And WTF style (Olympic style) don't use the hands. Lesson: If you do TKD - don't enter FULL CONTACT or you will be KILLED.
@DavidosityTV This match was fought in 1993 in the K-1 Illusion Karate world cup under seidokaikan rules.umm this guy is a pro, at that time he was the best TKD had to offer, or at least 1 of the best.its hard to kick fast when against muay thai, because all the low kicks are blocked by raising leg so knee is at the same level as your hips, and all high kicks offer a chance to take you down.Tkd always suck when fougth against Muay thai under any rules.the next vid is " Changpuek Vs Rick Roufus "
The TKD fighter put up a good fight, but the fight was pretty much over from the start. In a sport like TKD where opponents don't hold limbs or kick below the belt, his training was completely inadequate. The Muay Thai has so many advantages over TKD, and the condition and dexterity of Muay Thai fighters is insane. The TKD fighter did his best but the odds were strongly against him.
Also, wearing a uniform instead of shorts = mistake
you guys should give credit to tae kwon do. it was one of the first feet combat martial arts ever created. the dude on this clip hesitated alot.. it only takes one accurate kick to end the fight... dnt hate
@twixedout Shin was a braveman dare to fight with MuayThai fighter. under fists and kicks rule.espectially kick to the leg.head,rib.Goodluck he didn't die in that fight.restpect respect.
What a handicap ass fight.... stopping it every time the muay thai fighter had the advantage... if it was full mma status muay thai guy would've won the second he grabbed him
@MrDouggie50 i'm totally agree with you.Did you mean pajamas that he dressed on when he trying jumping and loose balance himself.Wahahaha.Oh red and black look cute.
This match was fought in 1993 in the K-1 Illusion Karate world cup under seidokaikan rules.

I knew this was a one-sided match before it started playing. Having lived in Thailand and watched these fighters take heavy beatings from childhood, I know they are like cement under their skin. They actually chop up bone with wooden boards, so that it can heal again, and redo this process year after year. Bone cannot break the same place twice.
This is simple. TKD will help in a street fight, but MT is destructive and powerfull. 2 equally skilled fighters in each and the Muay Thai wins nearly every time. Face it TKD is 1 of the weakest martial arts still practiced.
@shaylehman75 Umm you are aware that Self Defense is REALISTIC but what you said about muay thai doesn't really say anything about it. You're not very smart huh.
korean martial arts are among the worst in the world. It is all bullshit.

In the next match,Shin is the best Tkd at that time.

taekwondo is pretty useless man. In Taekwondo tournaments, they use their HEADS to lure opponent's kicks. In any real life fighting situation, nobody would ever put their head in the front to bait.
startingsprinter 4 weeks ago
@startingsprinter TKD tournaments r not real life, and niether is sport TKD trained for real life.
ikcjjtt 4 weeks ago
@ikcjjtt so TKD is useless in real life?
startingsprinter 4 weeks ago
@startingsprinter wen trained for sport, yes. as is all martial sport.
ikcjjtt 4 weeks ago
@ikcjjtt but seems like TKD is probably the most useless since its rules are no punching, and using one's own head, the most vital part of the body to lure incoming blows.
startingsprinter 3 weeks ago
@startingsprinter whats the point in comparing a bunch of empty handed martial sports? MMA proves its a good idea to be well rounded. But no punching just makes them inexperienced with punching, kyokushin has similiar rules, and it does well. Nothing a little boxing wont fix. As for attack by drawing (luring blows), is an advanced strategy. high level martial artist do it all the time. especially boxers.
ikcjjtt 3 weeks ago
@ikcjjtt but luring blows with your head only works if punches are not allowed. This strategy commonly used by TKD makes this style of martial art only useful in a TKD-only sport, because in fighting sports that include hands (pretty much every fighting sports besides TKD) using your head to lure blows is suicidal. And of course learning other hand combat techniques may fix it, but their habit often remains.
startingsprinter 3 weeks ago
@startingsprinter creating openings is not a suicide, its a strategy and the point is to get the guy to attack the open target so u can counter. U act as if luring will get u hit. the point is to lure them there for a counter while NOT getting hit, like a trap. boxers do it to. The point is to draw the attack, dodge, and counter. Its thinking ahead of the opponent, not putting your head out there just to be hit for no reason.
ikcjjtt 3 weeks ago
@ikcjjtt i understand, but you should never use your head.
startingsprinter 3 weeks ago
@ikcjjtt Neither is Muay Thai or MMA because they're sports too. The difference between Taekwondo and Combat Sports is that it also teaches Self Defense and Military.

@rockthehouse06
Ok, this is interesting.
How can kicks of one style be harder, than kicks of another style ?
Since you have practiced both arts ... why aren't your tkd kicks as powerful as the MT kicks ?
I really do wonder. =)
gutelaunetyp 1 month ago
@gutelaunetyp probably because the mechanics of the kicks are different. I do Taekwondo too and the kicks are not weak, it really depends ont he person but there is less momentum, more chambering which increases speed but reduces power while in muay thai they use brute force. But im probably wrong.

I knew this was a one-sided match before it started playing. Having lived in Thailand and watched these fighters take heavy beatings from childhood, I know they are like cement under their skin. They actually chop up bone with wooden boards, so that it can heal again, and redo this process year after year. Bone cannot break the same place twice.

This is simple. TKD will help in a street fight, but MT is destructive and powerfull. 2 equally skilled fighters in each and the Muay Thai wins nearly every time. Face it TKD is 1 of the weakest martial arts still practiced.
