Also known as "flight of the condor", there's an alternate version of this song, minus Hugo D. on drums, a simple and effective drum machine pattern instead gives way to guitar, keys, and bass. A MUST LISTEN!! for those of you who like to soar.
I saw Steve perform this live the year before Guitar Noir came out -- he did two shows at the Bottom Line and called it Flight of the Albatross. It's my all-time favorite Hackett tune, beating Spectral Mornings. It's gorgeous.
siriusauriazul did a very good job putting this video together. This is from Hackett's solo album from 1993 called Guitar Noir. This is possibly one of his best songs from his entire solo career: (1975- first album while still with Genesis, then 1978 through today)....a very "visual" song as well....
@jeff99az , Hello there, sierra does not mean mountain it means more like mountain range, which means several of them in groups, now quemada means burnt of the female gender, because sierra is of the female gender in Spanish, lovely piece.

the solo blows my mind. strangely, when I hear the beginning of the solo- 5 seconds after it starts, actually-
I think of all colours of the colour- spectrum being illustrated before my eyes. there´s this majic in hackett´s guitar solos...

In the liner notes to Guitar Noir, it's stated that Sierra Quemada, loosely translated, means "Scorched Earth."

one of my Hackett favorites! I know that Sierra means mountain. What is "quemada"? Is this a specific mountain range somewhere in the world?

quemada...burned
the scorched earth to him...
