Burning in hell is more of a consequence. It happens ethereally, as well as on earth,and hell's ultimately a reflection of our own hearts. He's all infinite possibilities, and were manifested from that.To lash out at God or others is like lashing out at your reflection in a pond. I don't want to take away from the aspect of God that is a higher intelligence either. This aspect of God mostly communicates to people through synchronicity. 1) To die on the cross or to be hanged on a tree is to be cursed by God (Deut 21:23). Islam teaches that Christ is NOT cursed but rather blessed by God (Qur'an 19:29-33)
2) Islam REJECTS the Christian doctrine of vicarious atonement. One man CANNOT die for the sins of mankind. God is Just & Merciful. He will NOT punish the innocent for the sinful (Ezekiel 18:20).

There's a path that would lead to more harmony within our species, but we have the ability to reject that path, even though it leads to our destruction. If we were just robots, and it was impossible for us not to do the right things, then love would be this inane thing with no real meaning to it.

@angie4josh If there's a potential for good, there's a potential for evil. That's just the law of dualism. Neither can exist without the contrast of the other. When the first humans developed the capacity to know the difference between good and evil, they started committing evil and denying the small still voice in the back of the mind that we still deny today. The potential to do wrong will always exist in some way, but we don't have to manifest it.

@angie4josh God's knowledge extends to all, infinite possibilities. In our own little domain, we can choose to manifest a reality based in love or one based in hated. Burning in hell is more of a consequence. It happens ethereally, as well as on earth,and hell's ultimately a reflection of our own hearts. You can hate God, just as you can hate yourself, but doing so doesn't do any good. It just causes unnecessary pain and dissonance to yourself and to those around you.

He's all infinite possibilities, and were manifested from that.To lash out at God or others is like lashing out at your reflection in a pond. God's an entity you have to harmonize with, and you do that through living a life of love (agape). I see the punishment more like a law of consequence. If you hurt someone, you'll be consumed by your own guilt when you meet God, just as If you jump off a cliff, you fall to your death.

@angie4josh I mean God can't be completely understood in terms of linear logic.I believe there is a golden path, though, and this encompasses the things we could do to bring about the best of all possible outcomes or at least gravitate toward that path.This is essentially what I believe the will of God is.Having reverence and love for everything and doing unto others as you'd want them to do unto you, and loving to the end, as Jesus did, is a good way of gravitating toward that path.

I don't want to take away from the aspect of God that is a higher intelligence either. This aspect of God mostly communicates to people through synchronicity. There's a lot of nuance in the Gospels that I don't think children can process. Parents should teach them the basics, like the golden rule and standing up for the underdog, but they should allow kids to socialize and whatnot. That's unfortunate that it was motivated so much by fear and fire and brimstone.

Why did Jesus CONFUSE his poor disciples? In Mark 6:8-9 Jesus instructed his disciples to wear sandals and take a staff on their journey but in Matt 10:10 he CONTRADICTS himself by telling them NOT to take sandals or a staff.

He always has a reason for everything, including confusing his disciples. He spoke in parables and riddles often to get his followers to think and decide for themselves. Simply telling them plainly, simply, and outright seldom does proper justice. He may sound contradicting, but in reality he's getting us to think.

I'm neither blaming Jesus for this contradiction & others like it (and there are many) nor am I accusing him of confusing others. What Christians need to understand is that the Bible is of human & NOT divine origin. Read the books by Dr. Bart Ehrman.

I do not read any bible other than the king james version or even the new king james because those other versions like the NIV are basically commentaries. @Sup: In Islam, Jesus, the son of Mary was NOT sent to die a humiliating death on the cross, for the following reasons:
1) To die on the cross or to be hanged on a tree is to be cursed by God (Deut 21:23). Islam teaches that Christ is NOT cursed but rather blessed by God (Qur'an 19:29-33)
2) Islam REJECTS the Christian doctrine of vicarious atonement. One man CANNOT die for the sins of mankind. God is Just & Merciful. He will NOT punish the innocent for the sinful (Ezekiel 18:20).

The initial encounter of the Prophet with the angel is a terrifying & upsetting moment as it borders on the supernatural & mystical. The same consideration also applies to Isaiah 7:14 - another FALSE prophecy. It says "The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and WILL CALL HIM Immanuel".
Christians assume the virgin to be Mary & the child, Jesus. But when did Mary ever call her son by the name Immanuel? She NEVER did, which means that's another FALSE prophecy. Agreed?

If Christ didn't get crucified, the old Roman mythos based in submission and dominance would still be the values guiding society. @Sup: When did I say God is limited to one language? We believe God has revealed scriptures in Hebrew, Aramaic & Arabic through different messengers. Where does Islamic sources say the Prophet did that to a 6 year old? He only consummated it after she attained her puberty. I hope u can understand what u r reading.

@Sup: It is not a question of whether Jesus did or did not succumb to Satan's temptation. The point is he was subjected to temptation & according to Heb 2:18 "he himself suffered when he was tempted". Now, God does NOT undergo suffering & NEITHER is he subject to temptation as James 1:13 tells us.
Prophets of God were subjected to different forms of temptation but lest we forget it was God who finally rescued them. Just as the Prophet of Islam was rescued by the God of Jesus.

The 'young girl' narrated in the hadeeth does NOT refer to children who r yet to attain their puberty (as those who r perverted tend to imagine) but young virgins who r in their teens (c.f. 1 Kings 1:1-3). @Sup: Allah does what He wills. As the Prophet was just a human, he too was subject to temptation as happened to other prophets before him. Didn't Jonah languish in the whale's belly? Daniel in the prison? Why did God allow Jesus to be tempted by Satan (Matt 4)?
