There's a legendary story about Olajuwon, entering his senior season at UH, was learning the NBA game at the downtown YMCA in Houston, where NBA MVP Moses Malone and many others would play during the summer.. Apparently, Olajuwon grabbed a rebound, dunked it, and used his off hand to push the league's MVP down to the ground, leaving the gym utterly speechless.. LOL..
at 6'9"/6'10" he is still the leading shotblocker in history, was the most finesse big man ever, had the greatest footwork ever seen, could shake and spin like a fucking guard and averaged 21pts 11reb 3blks and shot 51% for his career.
Dream made so many great centers looks worthless and uncoordinated.
being 29 years old and from Houston, i can honestly say that i was honored and extremely lucky to have watched him shake his way to 2 consecutive NBA titles. i speak for 98% Rockets fans when we say there will probably never be another Dream :O(
6' 11"/ 265 of muscle-he was not a finesse center-he combined finesse with power-when he was in his 20's he scored with thunderous power dunks, intimidated players-even as an older player who used many "finesse" moves-when someone gave him a cheap shot-he often pounded that player one way or another..most people remember Dream with his finesse moves, he carried 20 more pounds of muscle than David/Ewing- he often scared the hell out of players when he was younger-also #1 center Pseason-26/g @53%
he was 7'0 but it was his quickness and just meryful mind to make people look like they were wearing sand blocks that made him into the best center in nba histroy maybe event the 3rd best player in nba history. and i said the 3rd best player in nba history.
k7dog, it was well documented over the years that Hakeem wasn't even 6'11" throughout the majority of his career. he was never a true "7 footer". his deadly reaction against a defender and his length were the 2 most determining factors on why he's the leading shot blocker in history. could possibly be one of the NBA recordfs that won't ever be broken, not as long as i'm alive anyways.

Couldn't have said it any better.
To play in an era of centers such as David Robinson, Ewing and Shaq, I still believe he was the best center.
I just wished I saw him play more.
