  • This is soo beautiful!!!

  • While the horn is playing beautifully and with great emotion, it is way too loud. I have never heard it played that way. Still...it is very nicely executed.

  • @erstehorniste I disagree: besides being too loud, it has a very 'brassy' and strident tone, nothing like the haunting, mellow quality usually associated with this piece.

  • @AMAC48 It is quite possible that the way it is recorded or placement of microphones are very hot so it sounds louder than the audience is hearing it. But also, it is possible that the conductor asked for it to be louder. It sounds like that's a possibility when you hear the orchestra come in later. Overall this performance sounds louder than I usually hear it. But again the hall is live and the recording may be much hotter than from the audience's perspective.

  • Essa camera parada no maestro é o cúmulo, quero ver a orquestra.

  • Wow, again sombody with an intelligent and civilised comment.

But I maintain my point (despite your vulgarity about my mom) ...A pavane is a dance, and Ravel s indication is a 1\4=54 not 2 times slower allmost. I sugest you listen to Ormandy for example...

  • @egonsky You do know it's NOT two times slower. This is a perfectly reasonable tempo.

  • Are you out of your mind? thats way too slow dude!!!!

  • @egonsky I fucking love this tempo, especially when I'm fucking your mom.

  • @egonsky sorry, this isn't a rock concert.

  • maybe they are seeing-impaired?

  • This is one of the best interpretatios, I've heard!!!!!!!!!!

  • melancholy sounds great!

  • @Phlegasus: Vampires like orchestrated Ravel very very much. Also red iris would scare the orchestra away. And we vampires don't want that. =)

To be honest, I think only the angle and distance from camera make these glasses appear to be sunglasses.

  • What is that woman playing the violin doing when she's doing pizzicato?? Her hands flying miles away from the instrument..

  • The most melancholy of versions I've ever heard. Sounds great!

  • very well done! I've never heard the piece at this meter... beautiful. It's as if you can watch every long tear fall... though I do wish you could hear the harp a bit more...

  • I love this song. We played it for a concert earlier this year. It's magnificent and sad. Great job.

  • Magnifiquement triste...

  • sorry mate, but they may be blind people,

leave them alone and just enjoy the music.

  • Excellent, I'm playing the flute part of this but didn't realize how awesome it was until I heard the full orchestra.

  • Merci, Monsieur Ravel. Tre magnifique!

  • En mémoire de ma maman. Elle adorait Ravel.

  • Ca me touche beaucoup ce morceau!!

    Bravo!!

  • Truly Godhead. One of the finest examples of music that moves you both emotionally and spiritually.

  • Oh my gosh, this is one of my favorite songs ever. I love the sound of the French horn and that is just a beautiful solo. He does a magnificent job of putting emotion into it. I love it!

  • so touching...

  • Great piece altogether, have to wonder about those two in the front row. Wtf is with the sunglasses?

  • @Phlegasus perhaps they are blind.

  • Comment removed

  • @Phlegasus blind, perhaps

  • @Phlegasus , seeing as this is performed in the Notre Dame they are probably either well-known and don't want to be recognised or they are blind people. =/

  • @Phlegasus Didn't it occur to you that the man wearing glasses could be blind??

  • @illypiano The lady to his side is also wearing sunglasses.

  • @Phlegasus blindness???

  • @Phlegasus

They have the new glasses that darken automatically when they are hit by bright light.

  • @Phlegasus They are wearing sunglasses, because, just like me, they cry when listening to this masterpiece.

  • @Phlegasus

Guess the stage lighting was bright ;)

  • @Phlegasus blind maybe

  • @Phlegasus Sun glasses for the DEAD princess?

  • @Phlegasus

    unless they're blind

  • @Phlegasus your usual phonies.... This music is incredible....

  • As Ravel said "Pastiche"

  • Meravigliosa!!!!!!Brividi.

  • this piece is so moving, i love it!

  • Where do i download it in mp3?

  • Man I've been looking forever for this. I played this back in '96 in my junior high school band. I've always thought this as one of the most beautiful pieces I've ever played, well this and Salvation is Created. Both equally as moving.

  • You can find this on cd - Pops In Love. Which also includes Faure's Pavane, also well-known and beautiful. Incidently, Ravel studied under Faure. I think Ravels Pavane was written, in part, to impress his teacher.

  • I wondered wether this pavane inspred Barber´s Adagio...?

  • Was it an inspiration for Braber´s Adagio?

  • not the best recording qua sound, but it's still verry beuitiful

  • Great composers, but i personally prefer the Romantic era to the Post-Romantic and Impressionistic era

  • so please enlighten us on what your thoughts are about Ravel, if he's not a romantic, post romantic or impressionist... hmmm...

  • very nice. Strange but beautiful version of this well known piece by Ravel.

  • tres bellle !

  • bello y melancolico; mi alma se traslada a confines celestiales..........

  • This is one of my favourite pieces throughout classical music, even if it is not cheering you up, it is incredibly beautiful.

  • very beautiful music

  • Now, I listen to sad music like that because I'm not happy for a while.

You know why YOU TUBE? Don't you?

    74LOU

  • Don't be sad, Aurora.

  • Excelente, excelente.

    Miguel Angel YOPOLO Ramirez.

    LIMA PERU

  • There´s something of too much sense of missing able to provoke tears everytime I heard it.

    Tragically wonderful!
