@32BIGSMOKE The "little card" meaning the LTE SIM card? Yes... you can activate the Spectrum only if you have an activated LTE SIM installed. Without the SIM, you might be able to get on WiFi, but you couldn't make phone calls or texts.
@quest8899 What is your definition of "better"? The Spectrum has a bigger, higher-resolution display, and it has an easily replaceable battery. On the other hand, the DROID RAZR Maxx has a huge battery that will easily last through anyone's day, and it has a nice display and great build quality. The Spectrum seems a little buggy, but an update might fix that.
@Gear3Luffy I haven't noticed the heat problem you mention, and have had the phone going for 45 minutes at a time. I agree about the notification light... that would be nice. However, the notification bar at the top of the display does show when you have a text, voice mail or missed call. I didn't know about the rooting, but someone may figure out how to do that.
@LongLiveTheDay Yes, you can adjust the Super AMOLED display on the Samsung Epic 4G Touch. I don't know about any others, but the E4GT can be adjusted by touching Settings > Display > Screen mode. Select one of the three choices to adjust the intensity of the displayed colors.
@Gear3Luffy I think the Spectrum's display looks excellent, probably similar to Samsung's Super AMOLED displays. The Samsung's might have slightly more saturated colors (although there's an adjustment for that), but the LG looks excellent with flesh tones. Resolution on both is superb.
it is a great phone, I got it since day one and it works great with 3000 battery, great screen size and colores, just switch from DX2, it is much better...good luck
@salehofegypt Do you find the extended battery makes it awkward to hold? I've seen pictures of the phone back for the extended battery, and it doesn't look comfortable for the hand, not to mention how weird it would probably look in pocket.
@ShaundakulPRG The back for the extended battery looks like the phone is pregnant with a Martian. I like the idea of a 3000mAh battery, but the back is very odd looking.
In fact it holds and feels good in hand, for some reason It is more controlable. I have a big hands so it works good for me, I have not try it in pocket yet but its not that bad anyway, the battery hold for two days easy. Good luck
@Dragonstermant The DROID 4 will have a keyboard, of course. The RAZR and its slightly plumper twin (the RAZR Maxx) are very nice phones and the Maxx should have outstanding battery life. The Spectrum has a gorgeous display but battery life is a problem. If you can charge the battery once during the day, you'll be fine. Otherwise, the RAZR and RAZR Maxx might be a better choice.
I am very highly considering getting this. I think the theme is awful and I hope it gets rooted and has custom roms because i dont think it's worth it without it. I am trying to save $100 compared tot he nexus.
Thanks Bob and Bigchriztian01!! I went to Verizon to check out the phones today. I really like the look of the RAZR and have read some iffy things about LG and their products anyways including the Spectrum so I will definitely be waiting for the MAXX :) Whenever it comes out that is..
I'm so lost on what to get. I have an upgrade and wanted to wait for the Droid Razr Maxx but I also like the Spectrum. Nexus and Rezound. I know for sure I don't want a Bionic (brick) or iPhone though.. I went into Verizon today and saw the Spectrum which has a beautiful screen which I love on phones... The main thing I guess is battery life. That's why I'm leaning towards the Maxx.
@BulldogsFever You won't go wrong with the battery life on the RAZR Maxx... that will have outstanding battery life. If that is your most important concern, go with the Maxx -- it's a great phone.
Is 4GBs of storage suitable enough? I don't listen to music on my phones and I don't keep a ton of photos or videos saved. There are a number of apps though that you can't save to an SD card. I'm trying to decide between this phone and the Galaxy Nexus and I'm terrible at making decisions lol.
@SuperJosh1031 4GB is enough for me but I completely understand if it's not enough for you. If you think 4GB might be too small, then you better rule out the Spectrum. Good thing there's other choices!
hey bob, wouldnt it be a more accurate internet speed test, if you downloaded a speed test app from the android market and tested on there instead of doing the test through the browser?
@joshuag94 I really think that testing download speed with the browser more closely demonstrates the speed the way most people experience it. I will use speedtest apps when that's the only way to compare two phones, but most people use a browser for Internet access. A test through the browser seems (to me) to be more realistic.
ty for the review kind sir. assuming/hoping pt. 2 will be up soon, as there's been zero analysis thus far online of the camera. i badly want to get either this or rezound, so will anxiously await that comparison as well.
@cborba7391 Yeah, you're right. Wirefly doesn't sell AT&T phones, so I forgot about the Nitro. I'll have to put something on the screen at that point.
Actually Bob they will work with other Sims we learned that with the Rezound. You have to go into the settings by putting in #*#*4636*#*# and there is settings to switch to gsm and wcdma and cdma and LTE. Ans it's confirmed working overseas on T-Mobile head over to xda on Rezound forum.
umm plz respond does it need the little card in order for it 2 work

I just got mine yesterday. This phone is absolutely great. But I was disappointed at some things that you didn't mention in the video.
1. This phone DOES NOT have LED notification to notify you when there's an unread text message or email.
2. This phone CANNOT be rooted (jailbreak for Android) at the moment.
3. This phone, because it is very thin, heats up quite a bit and makes it uncomfortable for the user without any kind of case.
