I recently read a book on the genocide in Bosnia, written from a mostly Muslim perspective, that had some interesting conclusions as to what prevents genocide. The author argued that, among other things, an armed populace prevents genocide and that no modern genocide has occurred against an armed citizenry. I doubt many anti-genocide movements are much more than 'feel gooders and well wishers'. I guess I'm just too stupid to be "heliping".

You have no idea what you're talking about. According to the Bible, NO ONE witnessed his resurrection. His tomb was found empty. Not a single "philosopher" or historian ever mentioned it. It is not mentioned at all outside of religious sources. The passages in Josephus is a known FORGERY, added to the original text by Christian monks when they transcribed it. I recently read a book on the genocide in Bosnia, written from a mostly Muslim perspective, that had some interesting conclusions as to what prevents genocide. The author argued that, among other things, an armed populace prevents genocide and that no modern genocide has occurred against an armed citizenry. I doubt many anti-genocide movements are much more than 'feel gooders and well wishers'. I guess I'm just too stupid to be "heliping".

I think that they left the Armenian genocide out because
1. The US never 'officially' declared the attrocities genocide (which is bull, it was a grnocide)
and
2. The armenian genocide was before the holocaust. It wasn't until after Nazi Germany that the US said that there would "never again" be a genocide

@msolice Check out the genocide documentary "Screamers". It talks a lot about the Armenian genocide and the American attitude towards it. Samantha Power along with Carla Garapidian and Serj Tankian are in it, all genocide activists. Resolution 260 did not occur until after the Holocaust so yes Armenia would not be mentioned, because Resolution 260 declared that after the Holocaust, genocide would no longer be tolerated, thus the "never again" slogan.

This is exactly why I like the second ammendment on the right to bear arms. It doesn't take many Janjaweed to kill thousands and thousands of people. Have you looked at that terrain? There's no cover. You'd think it would be easy for a village of 20,000 to defend themselves against a couple hundred janjaweed.

I understand what you mean and I too wish the violence would end. I truly do.I've worked on the Darfuri cause for two years now. But its not so simple as in sending in troops.
Should the US send in troops now, without consulting anyone or going through the UN, it would enrage those in the middle east and Africa and would cause much backlash and violence. It would also cost billions, getting our country into debt that is unmanageable.

Continuing...we must have multilateral engagement on this. One country cannot end it by itself. There has to be concrete worldwide action for Darfur. That means engaging China, Russia, Arab Nations, and Europe..along with the USA. The world has been too slow to act, and at times there has been too much unilateral action- some of which has been ineffective (some sanctions). May things get better soon.
