STAX was well known and respected in the UK. The Stax-Volt tour of 1967 was a landmark. Now I can assure you - what these guys have done for the STAX museum and academy is GREATLY respected. This is what good people can achieve. Superb - bless everybody involved.
Stax-Volt had an array of some of the most soulful singers,musicians,writers,producers,and engineers in the music business. The only company that could remotely rival Stax, was Hi Records. We should not forget the classic documentary-concert and soundtrack "Wattstax". Just like Motown, they took all of their major acts on tour to promote the Stax label.
Awesome video! Anyone who wants to learn more about Stax I recommend the book Soulsville U.S.A. by Rob Bowman. Anything you ever wanted to know is in that book.
Kick ass record label. No other label can touch that raw gritty sound.

If you're ever in Memphis go and check out the Soulsville Stax museum in Memphis! You will really get a feel for the rich musical history there.
