4th measure of Andante Sostenuto third sixteenth note in left hand is an F#. Derek is playing an A# the first time thru and on the repeat as well. This section gives the most interpretative difficulty for this extraordinarily talented young pianist.
@itsanthonyhere lol there definiely is NOT a written 2 octave stretch in Rachmaninoff's c sharp minor prelude OR this Rhapsody. Not even Rachmaninoff could reach that. The biggest he could reach was a 13th
@chutdigadut Yea buddy, measure 12, first chord. The left hand "apparently" has a 3 octave stretch. Low C, then up a C, then another C, then F then C. I've always thought it was a typo but people say I'm retarded. I don't know. What am I missing?
First of all I congratulate you, a considerable accomplishment at age 10. But in my opinion there's a bit too much pedal play in the fast sections, and the piece as a whole could be a little nore Hungarian...my performance also is not perfect so my comments are only my advice. Apologies for writing in Hungarian but I don't know proper English.
Hi Derek! That's outstanding work. I'm sure that Lang Lang was very impressed when you played it for him. Congratulations again for all of your accomplishments.
My Dear Derek, Despite some little "unclean" passages", this is an excellent performance, with an air of improvisation which in right in the style of any Rhapsody by Liszt. It's a good idea to add some show-pieces to your repertoire. People like virtuosity......
You sure got talent! EFF u

those are some MONSTEROUS hands for a 10 year old! pretty INCREDIBLE

@chutdigadut You don't necessarily need monstrous hands, you just need a good stretch. Big hands help.

what I mean by "monstrous" is that he plays REALLY well lol really incredible and musical hands

@chutdigadut I wonder if he could to the 4 octave stretch on Rach's c sharp minor..

@itsanthonyhere lol easily. There are definitely reaches that big in this piece
chutdigadut 1 year ago
@chutdigadut Then there has to be some notes that are skipped. One of his hands can't reach two octaves. There's no way @_@

Ah i remember when he played this during our piano recital(no joke)

I hope Lang Lang doesn't spoil the young man's future by transforming his music into notes. I respect Lang, but I think one of him is quite enough.
