It's a "1911-style" not a 1911 damn it! Different barrel/link setup and no grip safety. I will grant that the trigger pull is nice, even if it's a little on the heavy side.
@Lucid337 I might get in trouble for saying this, someone won't like it, but based on my experience, Yes...get the Kahr P380 over the Sig P238. Again, based on my experience in owning both!
i just got this gun today and i paid $480 brand spanking new from academy and you said that it has a 6rd mag mine came with a 7rd with one in the pipe. but mine did not come with the rose wood grips it has the black metal grips. i have not fired it yet but will either tomorrow or the next day and ill let u know how it was. great video and keep up the good work
Just bought one!!! First handgun buy that I will carry with me daily. Whats a good holster to use with this handgun? I'm not into keeping it on my ankle or in my pocket. Probably going to be getting both belt and shoulder holster. Anyone have any good experience with either kind?
I thought I were very thorough and U emphised the importance of lock/load and safety feature. This model was highly reccomended to me, ad I have small hands. Not comfortable with Ladies s\w 642. Thank U! Don't pay attention to other person's post 2 days prior:)
@MoMs3rD Thank you! It's a good gun, just has some limitations. Some folks have constructive criticism and some are trolls. That's OK, I have fun with these videos and I'll keep making them.
Ok what Is wrong will all of you sending me messages and insulting me I have TBI from Iraq sorry I don't spell very well.. I sleep with a mask on every night because I stop breathing now every day could be my last I feed the hungry and homeless I love helping people and use to be smart sorry I hate glocks... I don't like glocks
Fortunately, most P238 owners will never have to use it in a combat situation. And fortunately for sig, we will never see statistics on how many people fired their first round into the ground or into their own leg or foot just drawing the P238 and releasing the safety and fingering the trigger. The level of training required for safe and instant use of the P238 makes it inappropriate for most private owners. And I don't buy the line that the safety will never disengage in your pocket.
I just bought one of these. I really like it so far. Already had a Kel Tec 380 but it didn't have the fit and finish i was looking for. This is my first sig and I just love it
@sc12100 OK! I realize it's not actually a 1911. So, a little slip of the tongue, what's the big deal? Read all of the comments below, it's been said before, that it's not a 1911. I get it. Looks like one and feels like one, but I realize it doesn't function exactly like a 1911, thank you. Nice little pistol when you feed it ammo it likes.
A AK47 and UZI are all steal what is wrong with people??? I am a IRAQ combat VET.. And I know my ARMS.. And a GLOCK cost 100 bucks to make it's a plastic pice of shit! The ARMY OR any army doesnt use GLOCKS only poor police departments buy glocks... If u haven't seen combat or had 10 years or more experience and have shot more full autos then u can count don't say u love glocks!! Kids
@JOHNNYSschool Yeah...whatever. Many Israeli commado's use Glocks. If my Glock is a piece of junk as you say, then stand down range and take a few rounds and let me know if you still think it's a piece of junk. OK...I am a kid as you say, a kid at heart anyway. Wish I was younger of course. :)
@JOHNNYSschool Okay. And the U.S. Army uses the Beretta, correct? Find me a Beretta that has had over 277,000 rounds through it, and I'll find you a unicorn that sings Irish folk songs... I have many friends that are also Iraq vets (and avid shooters), and many of them agree that while the Beretta is an great firearm, they tend to have some slide issues, and that the Glock is, in general, a better firearm. I might also add that the Austrian army uses Glock handguns exclusively.
@Dictators4GunControl Show me any 9x19mm factory pistol with 277,000 rounds on it and I will show you my "grandfather's axe" and a "Ship of Theseus".
@JOHNNYSschool I might also add that your poor grammar reflects poorly on the intelligence portion of the Army's recruitment/training. I know that my Infantry friends cringe when they read your comment...
Chances are if you are on youtube boasting you're a "combat vet", you probably aren't a vet. Also, way to use the most generic firearms..."Ak47 and Uzi"? Really dude? For being in combat and being so up to par on your firearms, you should know that guns are made of steel and not "steal". I know of quite a few pd's that are NOT poor who have glock contracts. Sigs are good, Glocks are good. Take a seat my man.
@JOHNNYSschool If you really are a combat vet....you are probably a POG, you definitely dont know your arms. Over forty countries including the United States FBI, Marshalls, the Israeli Defense force, the Swedish Armed Forces and the Norwegian Armed forces use Glock. In addition, the US Navy Seals and Air Force Security Forces have both been denied by their requests to switch from the M9 to the Glock 19. Glocks aren't the be all end all, but they are damn good side arms.
@argonnj After field stripping and cleaning it, it sure looks like a 1911. It has a 1911 style slide stop, thumb safety, slide, barrel, grip and trigger. So except for the lack of a grip safety, why would it not be a 1911?
@HandgunWorldShow The way the barrel functions is a big one. On the P238 the barrel locks into the top of the slide when in battery. It unlocks and tilts down when the round is fired. 1911s don't lock in like that. It looks like a 1911, but it isn't.
SIG fan boy's??? Ask a navy seal whats on his side... Or any us army SF that has a choice and Ull hear SIG!!!! Because the shit works and it isn't a plastic shity glock!!! I hate glocks what are u a black gang banger??? Or a lazy cop that didn't know how to do anything but bull a trigger??? @JOHNNYSschool "plastic shitty glock" LOL Reading the idiotic way you talk trash about Glocks makes me want to go out and buy four of them. You are obviously an ignorant racist. FYI, "black gang bangers" also use AK47s and Uzis. Are you saying they're "shitty" weapons too? Do yourself a favor and stop commenting unless you have something factual to base your arguments on.
You really are an ignorant, unintelligent fool with some of the worst grammar I have seen. Keep commenting, I enjoy the calories I burn from laughing.
wow 45 comments and nobody mentioned that your holster doesn't cover the entire trigger guard or trigger? hopefully you just hadn't pushed the gun into the holster all the way?
@MrHazyDayz Actually the holster I used for this video is meant for an LCP, so it's a litte too small. I bought a bigger one that does cover the entire trigger guard. Also, the holster I used was new, so not broken in very well. When they are broken in, the gun slides all the way in the holster and the trigger is completely covered. Thanks for pointing this out.
@shiftinthrutime Because it's so much like a 1911 and as far as I can tell, the only difference between the P238 and a 1911, is the P238 does not have a grip safety. Am I wrong?
I've had mine for a little over 3 months now. The only problem that I had was the slide stop spring. I sent it in to Sig and had it back exactly one week later. Pretty good turn around time.
I'm sorry that others have had problems but, mine has been a gem. Accurate as hell and not a single problem (except for the slide stop spring). I usually carry it as a backup to my C3
i just sold mine got a g 27 it wasnt holding up very well the extractor broke sig took care of that but i mow yards and it gets dirty out there and my gun was really taking a beating but my g 26 has held up way better i guess for normal carry in a clean enviroment it would be great but for me glpcks have been way bettter

i love mine shot 110 rds the other day only 1 hiccup but i bet i wont have any more im gonna order some new grips from vz you should check them out too!!!
Thanks for sharing. I got rid of my LCP due to lots of FTF and FTE(at least one in every mag.) I even polished the ramp and did not work. I think this one would fit the bill.
@wilbejf Let me correct my statement, you can cycle the slide with the safety engaged if the hammers is COCKED. It cannot be done if the hammer is forward. Not sure why you would want to do that, but that's what I meant to say. Thanks for pointing this out.
What a great video. I have had my P238 SAS for a while now and as you said, after 400-450 rounds its starting to show off. I had the same feelings in the beginning. I also have a Springfield XD .40 subcompact and it feels really bulky when carrying it concealed, so this is my primary now. It really disappears in my waste.
Thanks for the recommendation on Ammo as well. I actually got the Remington and will be testing it today.
Can you give advise on cleaning the magazine? thanks
Bob, very good practical review of this gun. I am looking into one and your review has helped me learn a few things about this gun. I have a Kel Tec PF9 which is a DAO trigger and I've found it hard to shoot much and shoot accurately because of the trigger. The SAO trigger is what interests me. Thanks.
@HandgunWorldShow Well I made the deal and traded the Kel Tec for the Sig P238 LIberty model. Can't wait to go shoot it this week end. I did by a couple of different types of FMJ so we shall see. Thanks again.
Nice review... Your camera is unworthy of your time and effort. Out of focus and dull. Just constructive criticism. Nice review though, really. Thanks.
one picky gun when it comes to ammo. got the one with the laser and slim aluminum grips. mine loves the self defense ammo I use which his the REM 95 JHP's. I am 200 rounds in with all types of ammo, FTE;s all over the place, but I am gonna stick with it. if it turns out to be like my 2 sig 1911's then i will be a very happy man. completly agree with the accuracy. when it fires, I can tac drive with the at 25 feet INCREDIBLE compared to my LCP. I am gonna listen to you and be patient.
@JackSureshot You're right, it's picky. Way too picky. Mines been alright lately, but I won't sacrifice reliability for accuracy. My Kahr P380 is just as accurate, much more reliable.
@HandgunWorldShow totally agree, most Sigs are picky, but this gun is SUPER picky about ammo. I've had the best luck with Remington white box or PMC for target rounds, any reloads just dont eject properly
Its a great gun, but I will have to be patient while its sits in New Hampshire.
It would not lock back on the last round. Saw another vid where the slide stop was chewed up..............and mine was getting there too. Sig says they are waiting for new slides to arrive this week.
I have the HD verson which is even heavier than yours. Pocket carry is fine, but I will appendix carry most of the time.
Hi Bob: Mice vid. I really like that pistol because it reminds me a little like my 1911. I love my 1911. I bought my wife a Bersa Thunder 380 some months ago and I wish that I would have waited and bought that pistol. She REALLY wants to trade it and get a SIg, but I think is will be looking for a 9MM.
It's a "1911-style" not a 1911 damn it! Different barrel/link setup and no grip safety. I will grant that the trigger pull is nice, even if it's a little on the heavy side.

HandgunWorldShow 8 months ago
@argonnj That's just a function of the inside of the top of the slide, and moreso the outside of the top of the barrel.
This means that instead of just going straight back, the barrel needs to tilt down so the slide can move rearward.

Thanks for a great video!

@052187ful It's a nice little gun. Go for it. Use it for yourself too.
