@GirlSkillz Hit Ctrl+Alt+Del and go to the processes tab. Go to File> New Task, and type in explorer.exe and click ok. That should fix it.

@ToT4lifee Sort your processes Alphabetically. Before you want to be a dick about it, check harder. EVERY windows computer has an explorer.exe process. It's what controls your taskbar, start menu, and alot of other things.

I have changed my start button text and hover text on 2 of my xp machines , but now when I click on the re=named start button and then click on "search" , nothing happens . The only way I can get "search" is to go through windows explorer .

Is there any way I can get "search " ( in between "help and support " and "run" ) to work again ? Thanks

yeahhhh it brings me up to my documents too. go into regedit (located in video) and change your shell back to explorer.exe and restart your computer. if that doesn't work, idk what else I can do from here. I'd have to be at your house to fix it.

Idk about the background but do ctrl+alt+delete to bring up task manager and then go to File>New Task and type in explorer.exe to get your taskbar and icons back.
