As a gay atheist, I feel for you so much. If you don't mind me asking, how do you reconcile the two - being gay and being a christian?? By selectively reading certain passages, yes, you could identify a loving avuncular entity (and even those are few and far between!), but you're talking about the Bible as a whole, and there is no such consistency throughout. Prof Dawkins' assessment, though supposed to be funny, seems spot on to me.

have you read any of his books? he goes through the bible with a fine toothed comb and pointes out thousands of individual points with exactness. He also has devoted an entire portion of a chapter to listing the societal benefits from the Bible, or rather a list of ideas from the bible that has permiated our society and become useful, without carrying the baggage of being directly tied down to religion or belief in god.

I think hes clarifying that its impossible to believe that something we cant see. Now, I would NOt say Atheists are stupid nor anyone around here. was there any point to this other than bible bashing? where is the start and end to this wind bags rant? why is it crowds of the ignorant are so easily amused by mindless rattling of insulting opinion? why if god is fiction does he need so much reasurance of the character nature of said diety? I wonder what he says of other books. If I wrote pure lies and labled them a true story I wouldn't get any doubt from this clueless book blamer. I realize this is a 10 moth late reply, but I'd just like to point out that this video covers 1 page of Dawkins' book. In a later chapter he gave an explanation of why he is hostile towards religion.
