NWO was a hell of an angle but when Sting started to make those entrance man that was the SHIT...sadly Hogan didnt make the job at Starrcade...and for the record i used to watch Nitro back then im 27 so i lived that era to the fullest
I hate to think that people watch this on youtube who didn't watch it happen at the time, and go "Well WCW failed so this can't be any good," and miss the point how amazing it really is.
I first saw sting wrestle way back in 1988 i was only 10 then. i'm still a big sting fan! Hogan thought he still the spotlight from sting when hogan came to wcw in 1994 but sting was already the franchsise for wcw you can name any big name wrestler in wcw and sting has beat them all sting #1 AKA steve borden..
Thats one thing that WWE did better then WcW, they didnt let idiots throw shit, like WcW and ECW did, if I was sting and I saw who did that, that bat would be going up where the sun dont shine
STING U GAVE NWO DA FLUX! I FUCKING LOVE U 4 EVER MANE..IM 25 AND IM STILL UR 1# FAN..I HAVE THIS ppv ON Dvd CRISP & CLEAR..IF ANY STING,WCW,NWO FANS OUT THEIR WANT THIS WHOLE PPV I WILL BE GLAD TO SHARE IT WITH U..AND I HAVE ALOT MORE WCW PPV ON DVD..ALOT YALL OVER 15. HIT ME UP..BECAUSE I KNOW ITS PPL OUT HERE JUS LIKE ME THAT ARE #1 FANZ. PEACE & LOVE
I think the best part about these days was when stuff happened it was actually a suprise. Today with the internet we may know what the long term plans are for a story line...either that or now that I am 12 years older I have just learnt what to expect lol.
and sting returns with the scorpian death drop....I thought that was cool when I first saw it becuase I did not see anyone do that move before..thanks for posting.
Sting was never with the nWo. There was an imposter Sting from around August/Sept. 1996 until Sting squashed that notion at Fall Brawl. He considered himself a "free agent" until this point.
everyone thought sting really did join the nwo so all of wcw started to lose trust in sting, who felt betrayed himself and "left" the company. after a while he came back in the attire you see in the video, but it took a while before he helped wcw to fight off the nwo
I was at the North Charleston Coliseum that night of the PPV and the pop Sting received was the loudest I have ever heard when he took out the nWo. The noise in there was so deafening you couldn't have heard the guy next to you
Before the PPV they hinted that maybe the old, surfer Sting would come back because they played his "Man Called Sting" music alot. And after the cameras stopped rolling, Sting and Luger did embrace in the ring. Never forget that night!
I was at the North Charleston Coliseum for the Uncensored PPV and the pop Sting received when he dropped from the rafters was the loudest I have ever heard. It was so loud in there when he took out the nWo you couldn't hear the guy next to you cheering.
Before the PPV started, there were hints that maybe the old, surfer Sting may show up because they played his "Man Called Sting" theme music alot. And after the cameras stopped, Sting and Luger embraced in the ring. Never forget that night.
this is was the 2nd beat down the NWO got from STING.. the 1st being fall brawl when Luger.. Flair n Anderson didn't believe him that he was straight n not double crossin them..
i said it before and ill say it again. wcw is the reason y wcw went out of business, no rules. no character development. no real story lines. wcw was on a respirator and vince thankfully pulled the plug
See this is why WCW beat WWE for however long it was, they had amazing stables, and awesome feuds, and had WW3 and War Games PPVs, You can see this level of Intensity and just pure chaos. This WCW was the best!
This was also one of the best buildups in wrestling history, Sting didn't talk for months just watching from the rafters...suddenly comes down then starts beating away on everyone with his bat. Sting rules.
Sting is and was the man. Don't let the WWE fans downplay how big of a name Sting was and is. Sting was on top of the business going all the way back to 1988. He didn't have a quick 5 year run like the other top names of the era.
Put "Sting Explains why he didnt go to the WWE" into the youtube search and you'll find the video interview of him explaining the answer to your very question
After WCW folded, he thought about it, but during the Invasion angle, when the Rock and Booker first met, and The Rock said "Who're you?" That pretty much killed it.
He did an interview where he explained that he watched WWF during the 2001 invasion angle. He said the moment he heard the Rock ask Booker, "Who are you?" he realized that WCW alumni were the bottom of the totem pole. Just look at what they did to Booker for most of his run
He didn't know how he would be used...he didn't want his legacy to be tainted going to WWE. But he has a good relationship with Vince McMahon such a good relationship that WWE is ganna promote his DVD. If you keep searching around he says why he didn't join WWE.
I think he was afraid that he would get mismanaged, WWE tends to do that, I love WWE but there are so many storylines I think they could've done alot better on like 'return of nWo', 'The Alliance', better management of ECW and of course goldberg. Also I heard that at one time he would go to WWE but only if they signed on Lex Luger as well.
he didnt want to gamble his position for mcmahon i wouldnt want to either who from wcw is still a big name in wwe? thats a good question not many but seriously i can understand why he didnt
He said that he talked to Vince McMahon several times but that he didn't think Vince would do anything good with him creatively based on their discussions.
In an interview he said that He felt the guys from WCW that went to WWE were being very disrespected and he didnt want to be a part of that. He used The Rock asking Booker T "who in the hell are you?" as an example. Now of course things are different but with TNA he doesnt have to travel all the time and he can stay home with family more. But damn it would have been nice to see him in WWE.
I remember watching this PPV. It was the most exciting PPV I've ever seen! When Sting showed he was for WCW it was great! The whole neighborhood must have heard me yelling. I was going crazy. It was great to see Sting whip the NWO's ass!
oh yea most definitely man!! i like the sting/crow era better than the attitude era....if wcw could have just had more excitement from other wrestlers i think wcw would have been the winner in the wwf/wcw rivalry
yep! clips r from '97; best year for WCW wrestling. these r da ones i saved, survived, jeje, on vhs. got couple more. stay tuned. have a nice day, dep.
stings the best wrestler in the world by a mile. But the scorpion death drop is such an old school finisher. All well though he makes up for it in how good he is.
yeah nitro was 3 hours raw was 2 hours but alot of raw shows were recorded ..lol bishoff gave up the results like when foley won the belt or when vince was the higher power i was a wcw fan and only tuned in to see cruiserweights and sting every 1 else sucked bigtime
If you guys grew up during this ERA, remember how we would watch 3 HOURS of crappy wrestling just hoping we would get 2-3 minutes of Sting! He didn't even have to talk, just show up! Miss those days!
it was a good moment (good for WCW standards anyway), but Tony's commentating is the old bad thing about it. And why the hell did they have Dennis Rodman & David Arquette (actors who have no wrestling experience) on the roster? I think David won the WCW Title. Not sure but I think Leno did too. No wonder y they went ou of business - stupid booking, actors without wrestling experience or knowledge on the main roster. Damn Eric. At least Vince only uses celebrities, not put them on the main roster

STING is Da Man.
He was the reason why I watched WCW and Professional Wrestling in the 90s.
I don't care how old he gets, whether it was in the NWA, WCW or TNA, STING is STILL Da Man.
He is one of the guys to NEVER signed for Vincent Kennedy McMahon and my friends and I can say this:
I don't blame him.
Vince is all about dstroying people's careers and STING is not falling for Vince.
and also, I hope that Tony Schiavone comes back to TNA and replace Don West.

This was probably the best of the nWo angle. Once they split in half and kept switching sides, it was just a huge mess (and then the LWO... ugh).
That and because Hogan and Nash are the biggest pieces of shit in the business.

If you guys grew up during this ERA, remember how we would watch 3 HOURS of crappy wrestling just hoping we would get 2-3 minutes of Sting! He didn't even have to talk, just show up! Miss those days!

I love this video. I was at the Nitro on the 2nd part of this video. It was awsome. I can't believe that it was 12 years ago. I'm getting old.

it was a good moment (good for WCW standards anyway), but Tony's commentating is the old bad thing about it.

Why do people dislike Tony Schiavone's commentary so much? He blows away 90% percent of announcers today.

JR used to be good but he has sucked for ten years. the "ba gawd" stuff gets old after a while.
