The "bubble laws" were passed because of some seriously bad behavior at clinics by religious people. It allegedly included even spitting on the women as they tried to enter the clinic. If Rev. Hoye would like to help women and families, he could push for medical insurance coverage of birth control for women. Viagra, for men, is usually covered. Birth control for women often isn't. This is a sore point for people who are concerned about women and families.

Forget speech.. how 'bout freedom from harassment? My mom has protested with Pastor Hoye and there was an escort woman designated to sing as loud as she could so that no one could hear what Walter said to the women going in. They cover his signs and stand around him and block his way... an act more imposing and overt than what he was arrested and convicted for. The law has been twisted to suit a business in need of profit, and not to suit the constitution.

Freedom of speech can be a little bit messy, even a little disturbing sometimes. Rev. Walter Hoye certainly has freedom of speech. But so do the elderly female clinic volunteers. At demonstrations, it is not unusual for demonstrators to try to cover opponent's signs. I wish I had a nickel for every time I did this or someone did it to me. This is just a short clip. What we see here is freedom of speech and not censorship.

And we will talk to women up until the second they walk in those doors, because the decision can always be changed and the baby can live.
