now i have a question? i have a 4 year old ball python; i just got him maybe 2 weeks ago and im tryinng to feed him...the owner doesnt remember the last time a feeding or sheading was so im playin off the role as it goes...she said he eat live food. doesnt have to be killed before....so question is if after i get him to eat....how long after do i wait to pick him back up to put him in his tank???
@TheBugjuice20 after he has eaten the rat it cool to put him in the tank but if he is shy you might wanna feed him inside the tank and just clean it out after shedding
@skate2hot4you yes for a number of reasons. It wont get wood chips in its mouth, it wont associate its own cage with feeding and bite you when you go to pick him up, and he will associate the other box with food and get ready to eat when he goes in there. its good to use the same feeding box consistantly
Hey I have a red tail boa about 4 and a half feet long and he won't strike at his pray like peanut does in your video, pretty much just how your ball python was doing in the video and didn't want to eat, the only way I can get him to eat is to put him in his feeding bin and put the top on and wait about 20 mins. I'm trying to get him to eat in the open so I can post a feeding video. He's on large frozen thawed rats which I feed. I've tried pre-killed rats also but he does the same thing.
Respond to this video... @3kenpokid corn snake, king snake, rat snake, ball pythons milk snakes. all of them are usally 5 foot and below. if you have any questions, leave an response. milk=dont handle them much!
Hey nice boa you have there! I have one myself he's about 4 1/2 feet long and eats large rats once a week. But the only thing is that he won't strike at his prey. When I first got him as a baby he did but now he wont. So I just took him off frozen thawed and now feed pre-killed thinking that will get him to strike again. Cuz I thought rat lose their scent being frozen. But he still won't strike, I just but him in his feeding bin and place the pre-killed rat with him a put the lid on top and lea
I'm really thinking about getting a pet snake in a year or two (meaning when I move out) and was really wondering if someone could tell me what kinds of snakes could be played with a bit and would probably not be too hostile. Also not too large. Something like the first snake here seems pretty awesome, but I am grossly under educated.
really liked how you explained how to safely feed snakes. your snakes also are very beautiful, too. do you happen to know anything about rainbow boas? ive never owned a snake, and i really want one of those, lol. i am deffinately not ready for something like a burmese, and my gf would probably not appreciate me getting a snake big enough ot kill a human, lol.
Trust me I know about ball pythons fasting or being in burmation. Mine wont eat until mid March but this year I will try to feed him in the begining of March.
Interesting fact...if your python should latch onto you, instead of their intended meal, quickly spray their face with alcohol! Anything from Jack Daniels, Vodka, Beer, or even alcohol based hand sanitizer! If a snake is latched onto you, your friend, or a small child, they will let go (almost) immediately! Its an irritant, but it does not harm them. This knowledge can save humans and snakes alike!
thanks i plan on making more info vids soon and i allso hate them being picky because it messes up my feeding day because i like to feed all my snakes the same day but luckly my boa ate that rat because they are expensive
thanks i know shes my garbage disposel shes eats anything and everything because when i feed her she sits there and looks at me giving me the puppy dog eyes looking for more food thats why i swithched her to small rats but im glad she eats =)
instead of holding it infront of the red light. just after you thaw it out just put more hot water in the bowl and just leave it in for a min so much easier. i just got rid of my ball hate em their so picky half the time it wouldn't eat.
thanks this is the first time hes refused food but ball pythons are known to go off food during breeding season and brute is about that age hes going through snake puberty lol =)
ive done the hot water with my ball python it works pretty good he like live better now

I go by a rule of tumb of; the girth of the prey should be equal to or the same & half again, to the widest part of the snake.
Royals are difficult to feed during the day because they're nocturnal & its unatural for them, its best to do it at night or turn off all the lights.

my snake wont eat, any advice?
madmedia370 1 year ago
@madmedia370
if your snake isn't eating, you're going to have to take drastic measures and force feed it.
i suggest taking the snake to someone who knows their stuff. then they can show you what to do.
look in your area for breeders. they'll be full of knowledge!

If i held a mouse in my ball's tank it would bite me rite away
