you can put it on but its not really going to do anything because the triple dog is already changing the ratio on the gears on the transmission so its a waste of money to install it. personally i would sell it because like i said its not really going to do anything
The cut out on the front of the truck is called a ZooDad mod. Best mod you can do for the "bang for the buck deal." Water will not get up in there. I'm assuming you don't drive through lakes everyday so you should have nothing to worry about.
Leave the intercooler it helps cool the heat charge boost air before entering the engine, also Id have the shift kit installed itll help more the the downloader if it does anything at all. And last Id take the plastic peice out to help get more airflow in, you wont have a water problem at all and even if a small amount gets in it will hurt nothing. Water injection is used on these motors in high performance applications anyhow so no worries there.
ok listen, first of all that was not the intercooler. that was a pipe leading to it. however it is a way to cool the air going into your motor, dont remove it. second, removing that little peice probably wont make a difference but removing it poses no danger. as per the shift kit i have no knowledge hope this helps
The chip does change shift points, but the shift enhancer is better for shifting. Also the oil you are probably talking about in the intake is your Crank case oil. You can do a CCV mod and get rid of it. Also that part your talking about taking out is a good idea its called a Zoodad Mod. You dont have to worry about doing it.
help my time here is some advice learn more about diesel motors before you even think of messing with any performance up grades. Yea take that pipe off the turbo and plug the turbo with a block off plate LOL that will make a world of difference ROFLMAO
K&N filter right out of the box will not suck off the oil of the filter (unless it got wet in warehouse), do not install chip, get flashed or tuned in the shop. also it doesnt matter if u cut off plastic factory intake pipe or even remove it completely, u will not going to get more air flow, the only way to get more air flow is turning up your boost, but if u looking for cooler air u may want to look in to getting cold air intake, or getting upgraded intercooler.
it cooles the air so more oxygen can be sucks into the engine.and a performance chip can work to adjust settings like the injection moment and fuel supply and stuff like that, but it can also screw up the engine.if you wanna get more power and performance out of a engine, you have to tune it internally with a bigger turbo, bigger cylinders,water-methanol injection,...
no fuckin way! this guy doens't know a damn thing about his truck. he thinks he's a mechanic cuz he can open a summit catalog and his wallet and buy shit. at 4:05 he points to the intake tube and calls it an intercooler. Really?
thats what ppl do. they buy shit. pro drag racers buy shit just how you described. dont be dumb maybe he got mixed up or maybe he pointed wrong. and hes posting this vid cuz HE DOESNT KNOW!! hes asking a question so obviously he doesnt know. thats how questions work
on a diesel never instal this shit this bully dog stuff most times they are engine killer yeah they allow you to get more power but the cooler cant handle that no more the most time!!
yess the trans shift enhancers help they dont ease it in to gear it shifts in to gear faster so it saves the gear o and take the piece out by the intake its a comon mod to most fords
like other people have said the shift kit shouldt be nessasary and the hose you were pointing at i think was the EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) the 6.0's had problems with this the 7.3's didnt so i think its ok and that air deflector being cut out might help with EGT's and boost but water might get in there if your driving in a pounding rain for a long time but i dont know if the oil in the filter wil repel it or not might have to ask someone on that
WRONG...research what u speak in 1990 ford bought 15% of cummins stock told them to not put the cummins n a dodge anymore and you have to do so since we are a major stock holder cummins went out bought the stocks back and told ford they would put there motor in anything they wanted Ford owned a part of Cummins for bout 6-8 months Ford,Dont make comments on things you dont understand or know anything about
"I" think you should junk the powerjoke and buy a dodge cummins. More power for your money and then nobody gets to call you gay because you drive a ford.
1. What they gave you is a shift kit. The tuner will increase trany line pressure unlike what you have been told on here. If you got the money go ahead and have it installed. 2. I don't think you were told to remove the intercooler. I think you ment EGR delete. Not an issue for the 7.3. 3. I have been racing my 6.0L for over a year with the k&n. Don't over oil when you clean it and you'll be fine. 4. Unless your going mudding the zoodad mod won't let water get into your intake.
i was with my friend when he cut the plastic thing in front of the intake out, as long as its the one where the small hole already is you shouldnt have a problem but i dont think water will get up there maybe a few drops but nothing big
don't remove the intercooler it will makes it lose power mpg and it will run hoter than it should that chip for the tran it should not cost that much to put it on it would help alot
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
the first and biggest problem is....your driving a fucking ford..FUCK A FORD...got damn powerJOKES i swear...get a cummins..trust me lol...number two...bullydogs tear your shit up get a cummins and stack it witha smarty and edge and you will be pretty good trust me lol and do NOT remove the intercooler! that will make your turbo completely pointlesa nd you will be boosting really hot air which takes away all the gains of the turbo...
My truck doesn't have an intercooler, at 100 degrees ambient temp and 18 psi my charge temp is 170 degrees, I'm way over fueled and never break 1100 egt degrees. Get a life linebacker and finish grade school while you're at it. Bullydog products are fine I live in Bullydog Country Idaho and I wont run smoky edge or expensive banks stuff. Seriously 51linebacker, go kill yourself.
First leave the tripple pup on there and sell the transmissoin module. next get rid of that oil filled piece of shit K&N!!!! and last but not least leave your intercooler alone!!! hope this helps
4. DO NOT remove the intercooler. Someone else has already said it. The intercooler drops the temperature of the intake air. the cooler the air the more dense it is. The denser the air the more efficient the combustion is. Having an intercooler doesn't necessarily mean more power, but it does help!
I think that is it. If you have any questions check us out on the web at powerstrokedotorg
Once you get the diesel bug it is hard to get rid of!
Also to this point the oil that you see in the intake tube is not from the filter. It is from the CCV (crank case vent) It vents crankcase pressure into the intake side of the turbo. Do not worry about that, it is completely normal.
3. Ditch the K&N. You do not need to get rid of the whole assy, just the actual filter. K&N filters have caused several Turbo charged motors to lose compression. they do not filter out all the dust in the air. that dust goes into the cylinders and scars the cylinder walls. It will lower compression and cause the motor to smoke. These trucks run HIGH compression (24-25:1 psi) and even a small drop can cause performance loss. Look into a filter from AFE or someone similar.
1. ditch the bully dog shift intensifier. You will be much better off with a new valve body from bts (brianstruckshop - google them)
2. the triple dog will change the programming for the tranny which will help shift points etc..., BUT bullydog uses generic off the shelf tunes. All bully dogs for 7.3 powerstrokes have the same programming. Seriously look into a chip from Tony Wildman, DP-Tuner, Diesel innovations etc.. you can google all 3. You cannot beat TRUE custom tuning!
Intercooler=more horsepower, No Intercooler=Less horspower also higher EGTs if you are going to run water injection you could remove the intercooler. if you wanted more horsepower with less loss of boost pressure look in to aftermarket intercoolers
about the water problem. you can cut off,the piece but you have to buy a sponche,it helps it for water not going in your motor, because i had the same problem, and thats what i did and it works good
iwould leave the shift enhancer off and just do the triple dog. but thats just me. and i do have a 1999 ford f250 with the 7.3 and i put an sct on it i like it a lot but i kinda wish i would have done ts performance. ts performance chip gives it 140 hp which is good for the 7.3. cause the 7.3 is not gonna get as much off the computer as the 6.0 will. and yea nice seat. and i would put an exhaust on to keep your egts down
What did you do to your front seat? It looks like you have a seat where the center console used to be. Did you do that? I just bought an '02 Excursion and am curious of the possibilities. Thanks.
Yes. Now that we have 9 people in our family, we needed another seat, so we removed the center console. It's pretty simple, it unbolts from under the vehicle, and lifts out. The only thing you'll have to remember is the audio controls that are built into the console. These must be connected for the middle and rear speakers to work. Just remove the audio parts from the console, hook them back up, and store them underneath the front seat.
We bought the seat from ebay. Even though it wasn't made for Ford, it was a seat designed for use in automobiles, and the dimensions matched our needs, so we bought it, and it fit perfectly.
Another thing to remember is these seats are not very popular. We couldn't find any, so we measured the dimensions between the driver and passenger seat, and searched the internet for a seat built for cars that would fit in the space. We found one, but in order for the seat to fit right, we also had to cut the arm rest off the driver and passanger seats. But it was worth being able to seat 9 people. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask me. I'll upload a video of this 4u too. Thanks!
i dont belive u will need the shift kit unless u really want it or unless u plan to do major up grades. just turn your chip to tow or even stock if u plan to do any hevy towing.just my openion i would leave the intercooler alone it keeps egt's low and if u delete or block it the egt will be higher.
have yo had any transmisson problems since you got the tripple dog
and where did you get your pipe for your straight pipe?
iv looked every where and cant find just a regular peice of 4in pipe
