  • Those aren't Amish. They are Mennonite. Many Mennonites drive vehicles. And, why did you ask him why they came to that Farmer's Market? Are they not welcome there? Why should they not come there? What would be wrong with him not wanting to be filmed? I wouldn't want to be filmed either. And girls wore dresses in any weather, for hundreds of years. It may surprise you to know that a cotton dress can be cooler than jeans and a shirt.

  • @luvmybantys Hi, thanks for your comment, the reason why I asked him why he came to the Farmers market was that I am intersted in Permaculture, local farming and I was trying to get a sense of Who was farming and selling produce in the area.

I want people to go to an Amish-Mennonite lifestyle I think the future of the human race depends on it.

  • My local farmers only grow grass for japanese cows, how can I support them?

  • @WHITECOYOTE65 Yeah and it just might get back to this lifestyle in a few years. I'm planning on learning horesmanship as I don't think cars for everyone will be around to much in decade.

  • He wanted to say something to you about filming him. Amish won't even bat an eye if things turn ugly. They will be a reliable source for food, and I'm sure they will accept silver if the dollar collapses. They might have to beat their ploughshares into swords at some point though.

  • I'll never forget the day I was hiking up Mt. Katahdin in Maine. Not an incredibly challenging hike compared to some other hikes, but it is a day hike, approx. 12 hours long with some scaling involved.

Me and my group where moving at a good clip when all the sudden a Mennonite family in traditional (and impractical) garb just blew past us. A Mennonite family on top of a mountain. Something out of a Leslie Nielson flick.

  • um. why were amish in the back of a truck? was it being pulled by a horse?

  • @infinltyshock They were across the street at Starbucks drinking latte's and playing World of Warcraft Online.

  • @valhala56

either that or the amish stole someones truck. is that permissible in their culture? technically they dont own the vehicle...

  • @valhala56 You must be kidding.... If you aren't, well, hopefully they are just kids that haven't committed to the church yet. Membership is voluntary. Though many Amish and Mennonite children do join the church, the church believes that discipleship with Christ is a personal choice. Iow, you aren't born into Christianity (like some churches teach....).

  • @infinltyshock These are not Amish. They are conservative Mennonites from the Eastern Pennsylvania Church. They have congregations all over the world and all over our country. We have one here in Massachusetts not far from Boston. They don't avoid all modern technology, they have cars, computers and such but ban the use of internet,TV,radio, video, computer games and have their own schools. They don't believe in gov't participation or war and take a literal approach to interpreting Scripture.

  • @infinltyshock they can be in cars. they just dont drive

  • DLBBAM, I neither misunderstand your Theology nor do I insult anything or anybody with truth and facts! Also, I neither or judge any person or their beliefs from 'my' culture! Mennonite Theology is purely works based Theology. I know for a fact that if you do not live up to the 'standards' of the Mennonite Clurch, then you are excluded as a member (Church Disipline is not bad), BUT, is not one of your standards seperation from the English? You are the one who misrepresents the truth.

  • @jehovahuponyou Thats fine but dont ask me for shit.

  • @websuspect - LMAO!!!!!!!

What makes you think you are in any position for me to ask anything of you???! It could be you are daft, stupid or arrogant - probably all three.

BUT, if I ever find myself in need of 'shit', I will come to you, for it seems you are full of it - ROFL!!!!!!!

  • @jehovahuponyou PART 1 I have attended one of these congregations on and off for 5 years. You are right, not all Mennonites are saved, nor are Baptists, Catholics, etc.. We cannot know the hearts of anyone. But what I do see in the Mennonites (the ones I know of) is what appears to be a real desire to live for God, and a carefulness not to be polluted by the errors of the world. THAT is their separation. It's not specifically separation from the "English" (cont...)

  • @carolinelandry75 PART 2 but separation from ungodliness of which they find themselves surrounded by in the culture around them (which happens to be "English"). They also have missionaries all over the world and many people join their church: Mexicans, Africans, you name it.... There are several converts in our church from all walks of life, not just Germans. Some of their children do not join the church. It a church just like any other - you can join if you like...

  • @carolinelandry75 PART 3 ..but if you don't agree with their application of Biblical principles then please go elsewhere, b/c if they allowed people with different practices to join we would soon have no reason to appreciate their ways. You wouldn't go to a Franciscan monastery and expect them to let you join if you didn't want to adopt their austere way of life. No one complains about Catholic monks or nuns that do it. These are no different. They set apart from the world...

  • @carolinelandry75 PART 4.... to live for God alone. This is what I see Jesus calls us to do in the Scriputre. What I see in these churches is a desire to do that. They are not perfect or sinless and no one else is either, but I appreciate their efforts to live for God and avoid the foolish errors of the world (materialism, war, politics, etc...) b/c you just don't find that sincerity or integrity in many churches these days.

    ~Peace~

  • @carolinelandry75 - Dear Caroline, I find much sincerity in your post, also a humility and a desire to express yourself in a most Christlike manor - SO, thanks.

Now let's begin bashing one another - it is more fun - ROFL!

    1) No group, Baptist, Catholic, Mennonites, etc. can lay claim to Salvation for their members exclusively (though many do, but such is a lie) - you say (as did I) not all members of any group (denomination) are Saved, but let's go one further, I BELIEVE THE LORD.....

  • @jehovahuponyou CONTINUED:

.....HAS A FEW OF HIS PEOPLE IN EVERY GROUP - we also agree that only the Lord knows those that are truly His.

BUT, the group (Church) of Mennonites that I know are far different, they claim Salvation for only those in their Church (and like Mennonite Churches) - all 'us' others, the English are bound for Hell.

    2) The Mennonite Church I know is a 'works based' religion. One is either accepted (those Mennonites within that Church) into Heaven because of his good....

  • @jehovahuponyou CONTINUED:

....works, or cast into Hell because of the lack of them. This is neither the Mercy nor the Grace of God. Such teaching is condemned in the Bible and such who practice the negating of Grace, by works, are cursed: Gal. chap. One.

The particular Mennonite Church (here) also excludes other Mennonite Churches by calling the 'HIGH' Churches and they condemn the members of such High Churches for being too worldly and mixing with the English. So it is not only 'us'.....

  • @jehovahuponyou CONTINUED:

.....English who bare bare the brunt of their 'better than thou' religion, but also their fellow Mennonites of German decent!

    3) I too believe a real Christian is to remain separate from the world - but this separation is not according to racial lines ('YES', the Mennonites I know scorn those who are not of German decent, 'us', 'me', English) - nor is this separation to be accomplished along lines of good works - BUT instead the Bible teaches: SHUN EVIL.....

  • @jehovahuponyou CONTINUED:

I am glad you have found a group of Loving Mennonites - for I too know such groups exist. An hours drive from our home is a 'HIGH' Mennonite Church, they are a fine bunch of folks - BUT, ask the Mennonites here, and the High Church members are as bound for Hell as Satan!

Good and bad in all groups, that is what we have here - but let's not prop the Mennonites up as all being Saints. I have found no Saintly group yet, just a few Saintly individuals

    PEACE to you

  • @jehovahuponyou Thanks, jehovahuponyou. That sounds like a rough bunch you have in your area.I totally agree about finding a few of God's people in every group. In the end its not about the name above the church door, and our Mennonites here share that belief as well.I do feel fortunate to have such a loving and accepting congregation here.I've never known such humble and selfless people in my life. I cant contribute to the community as much as i'd like since they are not that close, but .....

  • Respond to this video... ...part 2 ....I take great comfort just in knowing they are there and witnessing their example. I can imagine what it would be like not to have that witness before me - it's so much easier having a community to support one another. We have to do our best to walk with the Lord even if we can't have that community engagement, and I believe the Lord rewards our efforts even now as we sojourn here.

    Bless You~

  • @carolinelandry75 - Thanks Caroline, Blessings in Return!

  • To NativeP9 - Look, I too am well acquainted with the Menno Followers and their's is a 'works based religion'. Also Mennonite children are 'born into the Menno Clurchy'. Neither works or blood can Save a person - SO, that makes the Mennonite Theology a slap in God's face on many levels!!! I have already said there are many precious Mennonites and many who will be in Heaven, but their Theology is nothing but antiChrist notions! I do know all the facts, thanks.

  • @jhvhuy, you are incorrect, and misunderstand us entirely. I assure you, we understand that we are saved by grace through faith, and that it is the gift of God to us. We understand and teach that it is not of our own works, but by the love of God and the sacrifice of Christ alone. You don't know all the facts, and you really can't understand us if you try to measure us according to your culture. You insult our theology, but it seems you totally misunderstand it or us.

  • @jehovahuponyou they are not saved when they are born and they dont belive in infient baptisem they wait till they are older to make that choice on there own. and why then do you act like you know all the facts

  • @jessejmorris2nd - My Dearest Jesse - I know more about Mennonites than you do about buttermilk - now, see how easy that was to sort out. I must now go and fix my combine, the peanut trees are near done and I can see ripe potatoes on the vine.

    Hotshuffa - Fleabishdodo

    ROFL!!!

  • I say, here and now, the Amish and the Mennonites are indeed welcome. Und ich lasse das Wort fuer allen aus ihnen dar: Welkommen zu hier! Viele Spass und Gruessen auch so. Ja doch.

  • yes these are mennonites cause I had been attending a mennonite church

  • I worked with a Mennonite friend at a mental hospital in Mississippi. Nice chap.

  • Mennonites don't mind having their pictures taken. I didn't see any Amish in this picture. The young girls were Mennonites as was the boy. The Amish wear darker clothing.

  • @hennypennycrafts no they dont mind haveing there pictures taken most Mennonites groups allowed to have pictures of there familys now

  • i would tell to him stop asking federal questions'

  • It might be the opposite about being our future food. Monsanto is trying to own ALL rights to seeds, and our Government wants to make a law that you can not grow AND sell food....

  • Yeah, that's what I heard. In fact there is a private research company operating out of cave, no seriously in Marengo Indiana testing GMA Corn.

Check it out, if it wasn't so crazy it would be funny.

  • well the victorians conquered much of the world including africa in clothes like that , in fact worse than that

  • Don't get the comment about wearing dresses in 100 degree weather. Dresses are cool in summer because they let air cvirculate aboutthe legs. What are they supposed to wear.

  • You got a really point there. I'll just say this as a comparison our society now in the summer a lot of women are very scantily clad. Just going shopping at Target can be more arousing then looking at a Playboy.

So when you typically see women wearing halter tops, teensy shorts and flip flops that has to be somewhat cooler then these Mennoite young ladies with the long sleeve dress's on.

I will say they didn't look uncomfortable but they didn't leave the shade either.

  • Personally I've never looked at Playboy. I like the Mennonite cape dress, it's modest and pretty. I can see why the Amish women would be over heated in the summer because they dress in black, but the Mrnnonite ladies wear all colours. Very pretty.

  • Well have to agree with you there. I'm not a prude but some of the ladies I come across like one I bought some fireworks from the other day attire was one step up from a thong.

That being said it was a somewhat unusal sight for me to see these ladies dressed this way amoungst women who spend most of the summer dressed semi nude.

Either way I got no complaints.

  • Ladies and men both in my part of the world endure 120 degree desert heat in modest clothing. Religious or not, it's the mark of a city-dude that would wear less. :>

Modest clothes protect from sun, keep you cooler, and prevent dehydration. The secret is that wearing coverage allows a thin amount of moisture in the cloth to keep you cooler than being almost naked as worldly people do. It's transpiration.

    Thanks for the vid. :>

  • Yep, I'm a city dude. If it's over 95 degrees I'm burning up. Cold doesn't bother me as much. This summer in the Midwest has been very cool and I have enjoyed this summer more then any in recent memory.

Thanks for the inside secret on how to wear clothes in the hot summer.

  • well dip shits that dont understand to were they

are -may forget ,what they may have not seen.

  • remember guys.when filming please please hold the camera steady..we are looking at this and it makes us dizzy..thanks.

  • Sorry, I was trying something new, wearing camera around the neck to look like a cellphone so that it wouldn't alarm anybody especially skittish types like Mennonites.

Needless to say it didn't work out like I wanted.

  • REAL Amish and Mennonites live in Pennsylvania.

  • I guess Faux Amish is all I could get for $10. LOL, <joking.

There used to be a lot of Amish around here, but I haven't seen any in quite awhile. I don't know why.

  • Now just what is a "real" Ahmishman or a "real" Mennonite? I can quickly think of a half dozen variations for each. The ones that migrated to Ontario from Pennsylvania around 1800 have retained a lot more of their customs than the ones in Penn. Many Old Order in Willamette Valley of Oregon.

  • Great to see a clip of the farmer's market in my hometown of New Albany,IN

  • Vee Bish Do,

they iz gonna posion you too,

little English man, hungry as can be,

a little posion in your beans and i'm happee,

got to go and sell some more fruit,

posioning you English is a real hoot!!!

    O_o

    ROFL!!!!!!!

  • There are many preciuos Mennonites who I am sure are Born Again Christians - but some of them I have been acquianted with are greedy, worldly pigs - those are the ones who match the rear ends of the neglected hores who pull their buggies. I'm sure none of them would posion your food, but they will sure posion your mind. Also they judge all English (black, white, native Americans, &C.) as reprobates and not able to be Saved! Only the Mennonappers are Saved - my what a wonderful idea! Ve bitch do!

  • I am blushing...LOL!!!

The above sentence in my post: "...those are the ones who match the rear ends of the neglected hores who pull their buggies.:

SHOULD read: "those are the ones who match the rear ends of the neglected 'HORSES' who pull their buggies."

    Pardon me.

PS Please do support your local Farmer's Market - good food, good prices, and if you are lucky, NO Mennonites - ROFL!!!

    Have a good day!!!!!!!

  • @jehovahuponyou hey wath it there all not that way and dont the west of the world judge every one else just watch how you judge us mennonites

  • I can't help it because many Mennonites sux and are greedy whores.

    LOL

  • @jehovahuponyou thanks I gusse I am a whore cause just let you know I have been attending there church for some time now.

    Gods bless you

  • Jesse - you are welcome...LOL!

Look, Jesse, the Mennonite culture has good and bad folk in it, just like every other culture. ALL Mennonites are not Saints, nor are ALL Mennonites spawns of Satan.

Attending a Mennonite Church makes you neither a whore or a virgin - neither will it ever make you an 'accepted' Mennonite. Mennonites are a very clanish folk, you have to be born one.

Also their idea of Salvation is a 'Works Based Religion', which denies Scripture: Eph. 2:8, 9; John 1:13.....

  • ...James 1:18, &c. All Mennonites are not Saved, neither are all Catholics, nor Methodist, &c.

When I used the term 'greedy whores' to apply to 'some' Mennonites, I did not do so in any 'religious' context - I did so from personal experience of have known and worked for some Mennonites who were (still are) the greediest bastards (thieves) I have had the misfortune to encounter!

Jesse, you don't get along with ALL white folks, nor ALL black folks, nor ALL Mennonites - fess up and be honest.

  • I have met, have known, and still do know some of the most loving and kind folks in the world, they are Mennonites - BUT, I could say the same of Baptists, Catholics, Methodists, &c.

God calls and makes his people, whether or not they have a drop of German blood in them or not. One need not read Luther's Bible to be Saved.

Jesse, 'greedy whores' are made in the individual's heart, not not by association with a group.

Let's not have a war, LORD BLESS YOU and KEEP YOU, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

  • @jehovahuponyou

You do not have to be born Mennonite to belong in a Mennonite Church my Dad became a Member and is a very respected man among them. I would also like to say it is NOT a works based Religion if you are going to argue against a Religion please Know all the facts before you do. We can do nothing to receive God's Grace he gives it to us freely.

  • @NativePrincess9, I don't argue against Religion Nor God. Thanks for visiting!

  • @NativePrincess9 thank you for your nice comment about you dont have to be born a mennonite to be part of there church cause it seams that was one thing they made sure of I under stude and they told me that there are some that have Joined there church or some other church that did not grow up mennonite

  • @NativePrincess9 You aren't born Mennonite, you have to be baptized into church membership. Its a central part of their beliefs and it must happen when one is able to make an informed decision, not during infancy.

  • When it's all said and done in america, the Amish will be happy living their lives as the rest of America squabble with each other. Thanks for the comment Jehovauponyou.

  • You are very welcome Val!!!

  • You don't get on Youtube very often do you jehovahuponyou per your comment takeing one month. I trust your doing well on the farm.

  • Yes, us children of the corn visit the Internet not often - but we grow a hell of a corn crop...LOL

Thanks for the well wishes Val, same to you and yours, Merry Christmas...LORD BLESS!!!

  • Keep doing what you doing, it's all in the Lord's plan. Have a merry Chistmas!

  • I agree with this comment 100%. Don't need it don't want it. The way they live has only changed very slightly, and only because the law forced it. ie: electric lights on their wagons and the like.

  • I think we might be smart to start learning their lifestyle cause we will need to live that way in the future.

  • The only problem with that is that the majority of us live in places where we cannot even plant our own food, never mind raise animals.

I'm very fortunate, I do live in a rural area, perhaps you do as well, most went after the money and live in the large cities.

Sad thing about that is they have just lost much of that money.

It will get worse before it gets better. It will get better though.

  • We don't know the future exactly, maybe people will do the right thing, they aren't going to like working in fields after haveing a plush marketing job makeing $60 grand and spending their days sending emails.

  • Wow, $60,000 I know people that make more than that fixing cars.

    Thats not a joke.

  • True, I live in Indiana so not as much, but from what I am gathering the jobs with the most demand in the future is just that mechanics, people who can fix things, and people who can grow things such as food. Neither one can we survive without.

  • that may be very true

  • that was pretty cool i will have to check it out

  • I have tried Amish/Mennonite homemade goodies and food from the garden. They are delicious! There is a local farmers market in my town too. I see that you don't use a video camera to film them with your hands, because they don't believe in posing for pictures or to be in a video camera unless it is fine with them with permission. If you use a small device like you have, to capture a video of them without them knowing, then I think it is fine.

  • I love the Amish and Mennonite. I use a flip cam around my neck like a cellphone hanging, which is discrete and does not startle the skittish Amish who aren't too nuts about video camera's or any technology for that matter.

  • Big corporations sell genetically altered produce.

  • I hate big corporations for all the evil things they do like GMA food. The EXCEPTIONS are Apple for makeing the iPhone and Microsoft for the Xbox 360. The rest belong in the 9th level of hell.

  • Think Apple, and Microsoft are clean???

Google These key words - Coltan, and Congo!

  • Well I really doub't that Microsoft and Apple are clean, I just give them kudos because I like the iPhone and the Xbox 360, But then again Micrsoft screwed me on Vista, One of my computers crashed for the 3rd time resulting in haveing to do another Vista install, so Thanksyou Bill Gates for Vista, another wonderfull Microsoft product.

  • They RULE the 9th level of hell.

  • I try to support all my local farmers and Amish!!!!!

  • My wife ate the watermellon and said it was too good, didn't leave any for me. I will try to buy all my produce at this farmers market and stay away from Wallmart GM produce.

  • hahaha, you are funny))))
