@screwdabrewcrew No, actually I'm a low-income Navy vet. The Government gives assistance in getting food - ever hear of food stamps? They help with shelter - heard of Housing and Urban Development, or HUD? They help with Medicine - Medicare, and here where I live, MediCAL. They help people so much, that they've gone broke. Of course, maybe they'll raises taxes high enough that I won't be able to keep my job. That said, I don't wish any of that one you. Maybe you need to grow up.

@josephD32 Hud, and Medicare have one thing in common. a 3-4 year wait minimum and chances are you're likely going to have to get a lawyer and go to court to get it. Food stamps are another thing you have to APPLY for and HOPE you get. Homless is an an all time high, people do starve in the United States and ppl go to Canada for heatlhcare. The govt. doesn't wanna give anybody money cause they don't have any. Look you'r a vet and they're not even taking care of you and you served this country.

For this country, no... but I've seen people in many other places living far worse off than we live here. I don't want to be dependent on the Government for my housing and my food. Have I been before? As a kid, yes I have. I've seen a life I don't want to have. Instead of trying to get more people on welfare, we need to make it easier for people to get off of it.
