It is true that Mohammad intially followed the example of our Lord Jesus and turned the other cheek. The reasons for this was that a boot author, had a problem with getting pictures of the prophet muhammed, for his children book so he asked Jyllands Posten if they could get, some cartonist to draw some pictures of muhammed, so some cartoonish drew the cartoons some of the where karikatures some I even think was actually decent and none provokative.
Every word is so true!!! Abu Laban stirred the entire situation up, among other things Arla-products (Danish) were boycotted in the Arabian countries and the muslims even wanted an apology from the Queen!!! That was sooo far out... And all those people getting killed - for what?

No, that is not the case. There have often been cartoons of Jesus in danish papers.
The reason they would not print new ones in that moment were, that it would be a signal like; "now we will make it up again", and that would be the same as saying; "we have made a mistake, sorry".

I am referring to Jesus cartoon (which someone ask the newspaper to publish) before printing of Muhammad cartoon not after. Editor clearly said he did not want to print those because it was deemed offensive and it would OFFEND their readers. I know there might have been Jesus cartoon, but it would not be as offensive as Muhammad cartoon for eg depicting him as terrorist or as a part of sleeper cells

This sura is dealing with a specific event as I mentioned earlier and it was a time of war. when you are under attack, you don't just let an army attack you and kill your women and children and do nothing about it. specially if they had a treaty with you and you trusted them.
this is not about "innocent people" they're transgressors and they had to be stopped.further in the sura, "If one amongst the disbelievers ask thee fro asylum, grant it to him so that he may hear the word of Allah, and then escort him to where he can be secure, that is because they are men without knowledge" Qur'an 9:6 think about it.

Where have you read this? The gospel accounts were all written in the 1st century AD, i.e. up to 70 years after Jesus was crucified and resurrected.

Well demon228 since your not from Denmark it appeares, i´ll enlighten you with why the cartoons where drawn.
The reasons for this was that a boot author, had a problem with getting pictures of the prophet muhammed, for his children book so he asked Jyllands Posten if they could get, some cartonist to draw some pictures of muhammed, so some cartoonish drew the cartoons some of the where karikatures some I even think was actually decent and none provokative.

I am an atheist. We lay back and scoff at the tensions between Christians and Muslims when they try to invalidate each other's faiths. Neither of them have any rational foundation. I've heard Christians a number of times inveigh against the intolerance of Muslims. What I'm curious about is Pfander's reaction to The Last Temptation of Christ, which is, in my view, the best movie about Jesus ever made.

The religious right in the United States does the same thing. The standard reaction to all the problems America faces is "blame the liberals!" As a liberal and a secular progressive, I am tired of hearing it.

Accusing liberals of imposing views is a complete inversion of the truth. It's the right wing that is trying to undo the Constitution and for a variety of reasons. Liberals, BTW, have very strong values, and one of those values is aiming a skeptical eye at all doctrines that are dogmatically held. There are those who claim that in order to have strong values, one must be authoritarian, and the religious right here is deeply authoritarian.

He did not mention one thing: Danish press refused to print cartoon of Jesus because it would offend their readers. Why? Surely someone is hypocritical esp those who wanted to uphold freedom of expression

No, that is not the case. There have often been cartoons of Jesus in danish papers.
The reason they would not print new ones in that moment were, that it would be a signal like; "now we will make it up again", and that would be the same as saying; "we have made a mistake, sorry".
The point is that we didn´t make a mistake and therefor will not apologize!

I am referring to Jesus cartoon (which someone ask the newspaper to publish) before printing of Muhammad cartoon not after. Editor clearly said he did not want to print those because it was deemed offensive and it would OFFEND their readers. I know there might have been Jesus cartoon, but it would not be as offensive as Muhammad cartoon for eg depicting him as terrorist or as a part of sleeper cells

Haven´t heard about that, and there have been a lot of talking and discussion about the cartoons here in Dennmark...
The thing is; we find freedom of expression more important than any religion.
I am a Christian Protestant... but don´t take it offensive when someone say anything about Jesus or draw him.
That is the way it works here in Denmark. Other contries may have their unwritten or written rules... fair enough, but they shouldn´t care about what we do!

Some takes religion more important than freedom. Certainly I dont would encourage freedom of expression, but someone else freedom should not impact my freedom and same goes for me. I dont know which Jesus cartoon are you referring to (I have not seen any). You mention one should not care abt what someone does, but no one has right to tell anyone that he/she has no right to be offended particularly when whole lot of ppl are portrayed as a follower of a TERRORIST

Yep. The good old human dream of perfection never denies itself. First one makes up the concept of sin, so that a transcendental being is needed to save human kind. This transcendental being represents everything that is absolutely good and pure, so that human kind does not have to despair of her own imperfection.

Also where did the word "innocent" come from? NOWHERE in the Qur'an EVER it is mentioned to kill innocent people and if you think the Qur'an contradict itself prove it. This sura is dealing with a specific event as I mentioned earlier and it was a time of war. when you are under attack, you don't just let an army attack you and kill your women and children and do nothing about it. specially if they had a treaty with you and you trusted them.

this is not about "innocent people" they're transgressors and they had to be stopped.further in the sura, "If one amongst the disbelievers ask thee fro asylum, grant it to him so that he may hear the word of Allah, and then escort him to where he can be secure, that is because they are men without knowledge" Qur'an 9:6 think about it.

B3nny4 and everyone else who had misconceptions about this sura/chapter of the Qur'an, I hope I clearified some of them for you. Islam is perfect but muslims are not, they are human beings, there are the good, the bad, and the worset among them just like people of any other religion. So do not judge/attack the religion because of their actions.

If the command was to "kill innocent people/non-believers", there wouldn't be a lot of non-believers left alive during that time. FYI,the prophet's uncle and a lot of his own people were non-believers. Also read about the Islamic Empire and how far it expanded and think about it, if the command was to kill "innocent people" they would have probabley wiped out half of the world. a lot of non-believers practiced their religions freely under the Islamic Empire,FYI.

Where have you read this? The gospel accounts were all written in the 1st century AD, i.e. up to 70 years after Jesus was crucified and resurrected.
Luke 1:35 when Mary asks how she will bear a child if she hasn't married, therefore hasn't had sex, an angel replies "The Holy Spirit will come upon you.. therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God"
