  • I found a 1971 Masonic Penny today, next to a lake here in Indiana. It is, what I've learned to be a "pan shaped" style. Instead of a small dimple, like yours is, the entire coin has been put in a press and shaped similar to a pan or a skillet. On the obverse side is the "Square and Compass". On the reverse side is the "Two Balls and Cane" symbol. I didn't even know that such a thing existed.

  • @CladCoin that's a great find!!! i am a Master Mason i would love to find one with such markings!

  • Honored to meet you, Manner1232. Metal detecting opens one's world up to new area's of interest, that's for sure. Have a good one, Clad.

  • @CladCoin Honor is mine Sir.And you are very right its a very interesting hobby,I'm very new to it but I am HOOKED

  • That is a rare find. I bet the guy who lost that was sick.

  • The story behind the item is defintiely more interesting than simply finding a silver Coin IMO.

That's why I probably like to find tokens as much as I do. They have a far more interesting story to tell and you learn history in the process :)
