people you think that is good/ that is not a drummer, i know what he is doing but that is not what a drummer should do? just keep cool, and keep the time and lay back and you can kick now and then, but not all the time? then you have noise not drumming...think about that this is all bullshit, max never did that philly or louie or roy burns or the best of all ....me? mr drums phil ambros....ha
remember we are well ?....some of us? drummers we are the best of all ,so let us teach others what is good and what is not good so we can help? drummers are brothers never forget that, buddy rich and phil ambros we know all about jazz now it,s your turn??????????? don not fuck it up??
WHAT ABOUT BUDDY RICH YOU STILL CANT FINE A DRUMMER LIKE MY BEST FRIEND BUDDY RICH AND HE WAS A JEW? NOT BLACK OR BLUE OR GREEN SO THIS GUY CRISS IS A NOTHER NOISE MAKER NOT AND WILL NEVER BE IN THE CLASS OF BUDDY HE WAS THE LAST OF THE BEST I KNOW MR DRUMS PHIL AMBROS MY BUDDY SINATRA NEW THAT FOR A LONG TIME...PEOPLE GET A LIFE
I always see people say how they watch a drummer and then feel like they suck. Not me, I am always positive, and like Chris recommends, I PRACTICE. But, ironically when I watch him play, I feel like shit.
Yeah... it's sure fast alright. Clean too. But, man, isn't this all just starting to sound exactly the same. Same licks... same sounding kits... same dynamics (or lack thereof). I mean, what's next? Setting the drums on fire?
@Walterses Sorry there guy but I have seen black drummers as stiff as Poindexter too. Have you ever heard a premiere resonator Series drumset? That's the line of shells within a shell that they don't make anymore? I have a set of those. They are pretty badass too.
@realdrummer110 hey i wasnt meaning to imply that all of them have it, not every1 is good at the same thing, just that its way more prominent.. yo need to be a little less worked up :S you dont just have to shut ppl down for no reason lol all i was trying to say is that for the most part they are exceptional with soul/funk/blues..
and yeh older kits are usually better, resonance in wood and all, aging works wonders :). premier and tama i do like as well as older yamahas arent to bad :)
i do not intend for this comment to be racist but damn, most of the black drummers that are on the professional level have such a different feel when they play. More grove in their solo's and such, it makes me jealous :(
@jjdrummer108 I think a lot of it comes from doing gospel. I don't know everything about Chris Coleman but a lot of the new drummers that are coming out of no where that are also black have a big history in gospel. I think that sort of thing is more predominant in places that have a strong black community.
That could also be prejudice but from what I see that is the case. It may be something else but that is what I attribute it to.
@jjdrummer108 haha black musicians in general have an unbelievable/insane ability for funk/groove rhythms and styles :S they blow me away every time, seems to flow through their veins haha wish i could grasp that same feel, they just make everything flow so naturally :(
@realdrummer110 ??? what you just said makes absolutely nooo sense mate lol i wasnt being racist or anything or saying they were better, just that they have soul/funk built into them (for want of a better way of putting it)
@jjdrummer108 I hear ya !! I think his drumming definatley has a FLAVA for sure, i also think african Dancers male and female also have a unique sense of rhythm and style as do afro american singers , I mean comn you would have to be deaf dumb and blind not hear how good african americans sing..and look at white men dance!haha
I was actually going to go to AIM (Atlanta Institute of Music) for percussion simply b/c he is the instructor! I'm not sure if he still teaches there, but he did in june of last year.
Chris is playing for Chaka Kahn and I believe comes from a family of ministers. Class act all the way, and an insane drummer. How anyone could get that good in one lifetime is beyond me, and he's YOUNG still. I'm watching him play with a friend this Sunday night... aauuraai! I'll let you guys know how he did.. ;)
well he just had a clinic in orlando bout 3 weeks ago so... probley he still playing cause he was still endorsed by sonar and you dnt get endorsement deals unless your playing so yea...
