The Nobel peace prize in the past has also been used to reinforce the promises people made to help make sure they get done. Were there more deserving people based on past accomplishments? Almost certainly, but Obama himself said he knew it wasn't for any accomplishment he has done. I thought, and frankly still do, that it was kind of strange, but I see why they made the decision.

Bush spent $3.1 Trillion before August 2001 alone and spent $2.8 Trillion in 2008 alone. All totaled Bush racked up an impressive $11.5 Trillion in spending. About 90% the size of the US GDP.
That's why it's so unbelievable when so many Republicans try to act now like Obama is the first president to spend since Clinton.
