  • Backing on the blind side is tough enough in a 'day cab', but with a sleeper... As much as I rag on Swift drivers myself, this guy did it right.

  • interesting when i was on the road i lost 20 lbs

  • would have been more remarkable if the hole in the middle was the only one with a trailer on each side

  • My hat off to this driver! On the blindside, he knows his SHIT!!!

  • I think he did a hecka job wtg swifty

  • I love my daycab. Makes blindsiding so simple. Especially those new International Prostar twin screws with the giant back window. Never thought Id say something nice about an International.

  • @xDONTxTREADxONxMEx people who drive the day cabs are wanna be truckers.

  • @jerryhowell9 Wannabe truckers who make twice the money and could back circles around OTR drivers. Anyone can hold a steering wheel for 11 hours. Not to mention we get to go home every night.

If that makes me a wannabe trucker then so be it!

  • @xDONTxTREADxONxMEx twice the money my ass

  • @jerryhowell9 We are at 67 cents per mile and $26.30 for all time spent dropping, hooking, fueling, paperwork etc.

But Im not a real trucker so what do I know?

  • @xDONTxTREADxONxMEx i am making 1.52 a mile not counting the fuel surcharge sometimes make over 123,000 a year. now let's see your ass in a real truck and try to back up to a dock.

  • @jerryhowell9 1.52 per mile minus fuel and truck payments and maintenance maybe. If you say you are a company driver then you are 100% full of shit!

  • @xDONTxTREADxONxMEx who said i was a company driver?

  • @jerryhowell9 And by the way, I used to be OTR in a Pete 379. Sure backing is different but not all that much. We have daycabs almost as long as OTR tractors anyway.

  • good job man ....

i work at a retail store and we get our load from swift every week alot of the drivers are their because thats the only job they could get ... and have no love for trucking

some drivers cant park .... some park before they open their trailer doors some ... some lock their keys in their truck .. BUT we do get some great drivers once in a while

  • @mywhitez71 i was out of work for over 2 years and swift hired me, god bless swift they kept me from losing everything.

  • @jerryhowell9 thats good man .. wanna drive a truck after my military carrer.. just go out and see all 48 states and get paid for it :) take care bro drive safe

  • @mywhitez71 trust me no you don't, being away from my family and having to stay out 2 months at a time then spending 3 days at home is no way in hell worth it. the only reason i am doing it is because i have no choice.

  • @jerryhowell9 im 19 i dont have a famm ... only my parents .. i would really like to do 48 states before i settle down

  • @mywhitez71 i hear that i have been to about 47ish, once you get out there you will most likely change your mind, but if you do remember to be safe and enjoy i the most you can. and God bless you for serving our country.

  • I delivered at a lot of Targets in the L.A. Metro area, and there are several stores as bad as this which require blindsiding. That was pretty good driving.

  • for blind side backing, driver done a hell of a good job

  • That a KW? No turn radius and a blind side to boot! Eat that you professional no helping a holes!

  • @bayouastro It as Freightliner Columbia. There not to bad on turning radius I've turned a lot of miles on them. But the mirrors movement sucks so blindsiding can be a pain.

  • thats fuck all to back try doing that with a B traine hahaha :P

  • Just wanted to say thanks for the video nlook93312.

I appreciate these types of videos very much as a new driver (from whatever company). Backing a 53'r at different angles and spots can be challenging at best.

As for the "Country BumpK'ns" (that have "never" made a mistake in their driving careers) commenting on "Swift", I wouldn't let it bother you to much, they are only legends in their own slime.

Thanks again for the great video nlook93312, much appreciated.:)

  • nice job :) blind sides are a pain! Made it look easy though :)

  • Never drove for the Swifties.... I took my dunk in trucking with USA (probably worse)... However I moved on to Freymiller Inc. a small refer company behind the T/A I-40 x140 in okie city. To the point of my response... in the last 2 years I have been knocked, or should I say my tractor, for a loop FOUR times, all while parked, twice while asleep!! One time they tried to park a couple spots down and not say a thing... needless to say the trainer got an ass chewin!! Guess Who??!!! C R England

  • Well done driver.

  • Imagine that, a Target store with screwed up docks.

  • Point proven again..Swift drivers cant back for sh_ _ . Especially Woody. ..pull up..stop...wait. Pull up..stop...wait. Pull up...stop...wait. As long as Swift is going forward you are somewhat safe.

  • @dozerman09 They do third party testing right? I suppose they only teach them how to back on the courses in which they test. You know it's easy if you doing it on the same place in which you are practicing but when u get on a different road or a different environment/pavement you have to have the skill to back the truck whereeva you want it to go. Not just do a stimulation over and over again because you know which way to turn, of course you could do that without lookin back if you practice enuf

  • Like diff states have diff backing maneuvers you have to do to past the CDL test. But when you get out there on the road, you have to back from diff. Angles, and it's not always daylight, i suppose many accidents happen at night. So point being you have to know how to maneuver the truck, not just at one angle but anywhere you want it to go.

  • @dozerman09 .... untill they lease one and can go fast...er?? I always say, giving a swift driver a fast truck.... is like giving a knife to a retard!! Eventually someone is gonna get hurt!! lol

  • well, done a good job driver. its a shame all the swift drivers arent like you...

  • not bad blindside back one of the harder backs

  • Good stuff my friend. Add another good driver to the Swift roster... I start next week.

  • why are you making fun of this guy? he's probably a rookie. he didn't do that bad.

  • I have definitely had worse backs to do, not bad, as long as you didn't hit anything, it's all good!

  • Damn I forgot to open the doors..

  • power mirrors are nice on blind side huh? lol,,,

  • damn good job for a swifty!

  • I'm a city driver for TransX in Montreal. nice job driver. I've been to worse places but the I'm driving a day dab mack.

  • i can back that with a wrecker hooked up try that if u dare

  • Can you back pups? It sucks but can be done..hehehe

  • Done it. You could get the romanian army in there, lol. Wal-Marts are easy. Try some of the lumberyards I have to back into. 90 degrees off a two lane street, a double 90 to to the back, stuff stacked in the way everywhere, no clearance, and with a spread axle over rough ground.

  • @cableandchain big talk there, I'd love to see you put that rig in the hole with a wrecker. Not that it can't be done but I know how long it'll take to get it right.

  • I will say it...Most swift, werner, schnieder, and for sure CR England company drivers cant back...let alone drive. I like my mirrors and chrome where they are thank you. I do own my own truck....

  • The company dont make the driver, the truck dont make the driver, its the person behind the wheel that makes the driver. At least thats the way I see it.

  • haha nice my daddy drives for swift and he is an awesome driver!

  • blind side hooah, the reason people cry about swift is becouse we have so many trucks on the road. i dont care who u drive for people hit crap due to driver error or crapy ass places to park, Like truck stops and rest stops, not eough places for us trucks. parking places are 1:100 go figure

  • Easy in a day cab, moderately difficult in a sleeper. Good job driver.

Target uses Trailmobiles with roll up doors, that's why he didn't open the doors.

  • lol he didnt open his doors

  • Probably because it has a roll up door. It's a dedicated trailor and a swift reefer unit so more than likely the door rolls up..thats the only kind i remember seeing swift having anyways

  • Blind siding is never fun. That was a good backing job, well done.

  • okay i dont get what is so impressive of this viedo tons of room 2 back in i hope u can back it in that hole ? first day on the job there '?

  • Nice, Must take a lot of skill and experience to do that.

  • Just come in from the other way and site side it douche bag!

  • Blind-side docking is not one of the easier backs, it's one of the harder ones. Interestingly, the driver did the hard part well and messed up when all he had to do was go straight back.

But shooting video of a new driver blind-side docking instead of helping like you were supposed to? Kind of a dick move, isn't it? Christ people, show the newbies a little respect. You were one too once.

  • he did it from the blind side it wasnt that bad a job in my opinion

  • LOL thats just too funny. thanks for all your hard work tho :)

  • i took my road and backing range test yesterday and did this maneuver the first time and surprised the Swift instructor. I was pulling a 53 step deck flat bed trailer with a Freightliner Columbia. Hopefully I get my truck Monday.

  • actually painful to watch haha

  • Good video and good choice of music,I love AC/DC.Keep the greasy side down and the shiny side up.

  • good job driver. next time g.o.a.l.

  • yep! swift driver you can tell...the driver hits a trailer while the trainer fims it.

  • poor swift driver.......no i mean literally.....25 cents a mile....poor swift driver!

  • thats just way to painfull there comes a point where i just have to get out and pull him out of the seat and do it myself

  • Now try with truck and dog. You americans got it easy with ya semis.

  • You talking NZ quads?

    No dollylock?

Def harder than a semi, depends on the length tho

I find most boxes are too quick in reverse, you can't just idle back really slow with your foot off the clutch, the slower you go the easier it is to catch it lol

  • Yep thats the one. Long wheel base is not too bad and yes revese to high, alot of riding the clutch. I have never heard of the dolly lock. that would be mint once u have it lined up straight.

  • lovin it ,,,keep the rubber on the road, and the shinny side up

  • good video but i think the song sucks!!!

  • you suck

  • um... yeah ok (shanegiggie) i really suck.

  • well if you dont like the song keep it to yourself because no one wants to hear your bullshit...

  • hey (shanegiggie) do u pay for my online service no u dont, do u own my you tube account no u dont, can u tell me what can i say and not say here on youtube no u cant, just like i cant tell u dont comment on me saying i dont like the music, so like it or not i will say what i want whenever i want if u dont like it dont read what i have to say its that simple i wont go to ur level and call u a name like u did me now have a nice day (shanegiggie). ANYWAYS........

  • i will thanks (:!!!

  • that's other good job by swift. been at that target..

  • Ok,it wasnt that bad.

  • If you should have been spotting why weren't you? I guess it is easier to stand there with your thumb in your ass and film isn't it.

Want something difficult try straight line backing, blacked out, on a dark iraq road with nothing to illuminate your path.

  • Considering he's backing up blindside (right turn), he did pretty decent. It's always harder because you lose sight of the end of the trailer in your right mirror and you can't see it out the right side window either. That's why you will see most drivers back to the left, and not the right. It's not as bad if your tractor is a day cab with a rear window to see out of.

  • i think the driver did a better job then the spotter

  • Since it is called the song and the one who to sings porfavor good video

  • WALMART!!!!

  • I have been with swift for 3 years. I have 2 trucks leased to them. I have no complaints... and they have always treated me fair and honestly. Working with Swift is like working with any Corporation (it's not a mom and pop) it is what you make of it. It all depends on your attitude. As for backing,, I think this driver did excellent. Doesn't matter how many times you pull forward, as long as you don't hit anything backing up. And a lot of the Target stores want you to back in this way. I know.

  • Kind of disadvantage..There is a person out to spot the backing... but they are out filming, not helping...the turn and say Swift drivers can't back shit was right??? I would say the spotter can't help shit.

  • sweet move backing blind handy when all the space in the world is past the parked trailer no rigs attached to trailers and guy outside the truck to spot....THIS GUY WAS GOOD SPOT ON

  • Goooooooooood , i cant do that with my car and a little luggage-trailer , AC/DC perfect music!!!

  • Who cares how fancy it is? If you're not waiting behind this person, then it really doesn't matter. Get the truck in the damn hole and get back out on the road. Period.

  • If this is saying that swift is good at backin.. I don't want to see one that says they can't back...

  • im 13 and i can bak a trailer beter than tht and so can my m8 whos 15!

  • doubt it...maybe on the computer

  • why was this a blind side anyways? i like at 2:30 when he shows us all that space, like its supposed to be a tight spot.

  • lol my dad drives truck and i cant count how many times he told me about a swift driver fucking up swift sucks lol

  • I'll bet it took 500 attempts in 5 days to get this video!

SWIFT IS A PIECE OF SHIT!

  • I heard swift was not a bad company to work for....I heard with them if you want 30 days off you can get it.....not sure how true that is....also, I heard that with the CDL schools, people think they are getting something magical....they are paying thousand dollars when really it all comes down to the mind....its what its all about.....I was thinking of going to this CDL school and that is what the owner of the school told me...

  • YOU HEARD WRONG! SWIFT IS A PIECE OF SHIT COMPANY! I WORKED THERE FOR A VERY SHORT TIME AND COULD WRITE PAGES OF THEIR FUCK UPS! I'M LUCKY TO BE ALIVE!

Here are two incidents just to give you an idea.

My second week, my "mentor" (instructor) drove us into the median and sunk us to the axels- a miracle we didn't roll.

SEVEN DAYS LATER, I had to stop him from driving under an under height bridge.

If you value your LIFE, don't work for this piece of shit company!

  • that was pretty good

  • blind side backing!!! good job!!! ...Swift is great we all have to start somewhere.

  • Not a bad job at all.

  • not that bad for a swift and blind side backin

  • I cant make fun of anyone backing up a semi. Its a lot harder than it looks. I have been driving for a about 3 1/2 years and thank god I pull a grain trailer for my uncle not to much backing. What cracks me up is people know when they build a place they are going to have semis come in, and they make the area so small. Like this guy why they couldn't have made it go all the way around or something where he had more room. They want u to put a 53 foot semi trailer in a 2 foot hole I swear!

  • "just get the shit out of the trailer and lets roll"

  • he woulda been fine, had he turned the wheels back sooner. a 53 foot trailer, especially being backed by a sleeper truck, reacts very slow. but this is a tastamant to the SWIFT acronym, S.W.I.F.T.=Stop Whining I'm Fuckin Trying, or bacwards T.F.I.W.S.= Two Failures In White Semi.

  • Also "Sure Wish I'd Finished Training"

and "Swing Wide It's a Fuckin' Trailer"

  • Slow Wagon In Fast Traffic

See What I F'ed Up Today

  • lmao i haven't heard those! I will pass them along!

  • I dont think anyone should stick a label on one trucking company.Ive seen good and bad in a lot of diffrent companies.Alot of it just depends on the driver. With the industry growing like it is they have to recruit new people all the time. And yes folks even the green horn has to get a start somewhere. But thats why they train them.yOu can see this guy knows what hes doing and did a damn good job.

  • It was an easy back up.Just back up straight down the alley and when the tandems are lined up with the last trailer start turning...just repeat repeat each time you do it.

  • that actually wasnt bad. blind side ally docking sucks ass.

  • Pretty funny actually, that he made it in and around the blind side crap, then couldn't get it straight in the hole to save his life. =P

  • wow, a very bad driver...im 16 and i could back that thing up in 2 try's....he need more practice or should stop driving, because of driver's like that make the ppl that can drive it makes them slower because u cant drive....

  • Be cool - stay in school kid...

  • be cool - stay in school kid...

  • at 16 i don't think you even have enough strength to press down the clutch or pull the 5th wheel lock

  • wow ok...i started doing that kind of stuff when i was 13. Trust me i have anough strength.

i couldnt drive the truck at that age so all i did was hook trucks up.

  • Congratulations genius, now open your doors.

  • its a roll up door. he doesnt have to open the doors, they open them when the trailer is in the dock.

  • Roll up on a reefer?

  • i have seen roll up doors on reefer trailers. at least that is what i have seen on most swifts reefer trailers. i dont know why they would put roll up doors on reefers. My only guess is that it is faster to drop and hook without getting out to open the doors.

  • Good job with the blind side Swift. Now go teach your fellow Swift drivers how to drive like that please!

  • fuck we had a dumbass swift driver try to pull a u turn in middile of towne

  • Hell I think he did a damn good job Ive been to that Target and Commend the driver

    Well Done

  • Having driven trailer for over 25 years, whenever I was backing blind side with a bunk, I would watch my trailer tires in my r/side spot mirrors and when I lost sight of them, I would turn and look out my driver's mirror and watch the angle of my trailer as compared to my trailer and then follow it up when the angle was almost to the point of no return then go the other way with the tractor and bingo; in she'd go right where you wanted it. It just took a little practice.

  • What's special with this video?

That's a basic back maneuver which you have to be able to, if you want to get a drivers license for that truck!

    //Simon, truckdriver in Sweden.

  • That was a blind side back from a narrow drive-of couse, i'm guessing swedish drivers don't have sleper cabs, so u can just use your "cheater window". that is not a "basic backing manuever"as u stated

  • Of course we have sleeper cabs on our trucks, except distribution trucks (where the sleeper takes up length which could be used for freight instead).

The most long distance trucks in Sweden, consists of a truck which is about 9 metres long, and a trailer which is about 15 metres long. So we have no window in the back of the cab, and if we had it would just show the front of the load.

  • nice vid, not all swift truckers are idiots, here in the uk we got some right assholes driving nice rigs you know the sort 2 feet away from the rear of your vehicle on the limiter

  • are you saying that tralier has barn doors not a shutter, if so [you dumb arse and how many shunts to get in] if not great driving way to go i think rgds fish.

  • hey, rowdyman1980, show me the roll up door! what frame in this clip can I see it? PLEASE show me the roll up door!!! CANT DO IT CAN U?if the dumbass holding the camera would have walked 3 more steps and got a shot of the rear, this would not be an issue, AND, who the hell put u in charge of defending this clip? r u a swifty too? Yup, this must be hitting close to home for u.......

  • dumb ass every swift reefer i have seen has roll up doors.

nice blind side by the way.

  • Nice job. The only way to get good at it is to do it!

  • Now that, folks, is a blindside back, and takes skill... many drivers will not even attempt it...nice job driver.

  • yes, It makes drivers and everyone else around nervous. =)

  • Was this in Denver Co?

  • Yes, in Denver

  • Not bad but iof you really want to impress me try doing that when there's another trailer on the other side..

  • No, really, I am good. I have no desire to impress you. But, if I ever have the urge to impress you, I will. Trust and believe that buddy.

  • And how do you think you will do that?

  • Target lots can be a hassle sometimes. I don't much care for target. I've only done one reefer load for them.

  • Alright, tell the truth! Swift or not, How many drivers do you know who can blindside? I can, but I've seen alot of drivers who wont even try.

  • Stepdecks forever. No warehouses, no waiting to unload, People are happy to see you. Enough said!!!

  • i could have had that in there the first time lmfao paper cow boys i tell ya lmfao keep going you will get there sooner or later

  • Oh thats right! You're that guy, aren't ya? Shit, can I call you sometime? You are that driver that holds the current record for 100% Error Free, Picture Perfect Driving Carreer... Whats it like going through life doing everything perfect the first time? I have to know... I'll call you the next time I try something new...

  • pop quiz....

Q: how do you know if your woman is cheating on you?

A: you're out on the road for a week and when you get back the swift truck is still trying to back out of your driveway

  • HaHa, Just heard that one on the radio yesterday, the worst part is, He was backed in to start with.

  • My dad could do it all in one sweep. Haha.

I wouldn't leave it up to a Swift driver, though.

    *JOKE*

  • I gotta admit - there is quite a bit of room, but still, good job man.

  • My god a monkey could back that truck to much room...........wait a minute its a swift driver. monkey..swift driver...do we see a connection.

  • The only connection I see is the ignorance of your comment and "90" after your name. Give it a couple of years sunshine. Lets hope you see a different world..

  • Ive been reading your comments for the past 2 mins now (yes i just came home from school, I'm tired and have nothing better to do) and I gotta say, why the hell do you even argue with these people? I mean it's just pathetic, really.

  • target dedicated? outta phx? or woodland?

  • Phoenix

  • look out!!!

    Swift's backing up!!

  • he paid a homeless guy in the streets to back that trk

  • LOL :D

  • No, I grabbed a veteran driver to do it for me. I felt he needed to sit in a Swift Truck to remind who taught him to drive!

  • looks like swift had to make a video of their best blindsider to shut us up for a minute!!! lol

  • ill hand it to yuh there swifty yuh did a hell of a job doin that blindside!!!

  • oh shit thats the new freightliner swifts got

its got the new mirror design for columbia and the muffler doesnt give out any black smoke anymore.

  • At about 2:30 you see that there is access to the dock area from the other side of the building. Probably no need to have done a blindside back. Get the big picture.

  • Pretty typical, swift hires new drivers with very little training and who are fresh out of driving school. That's why they pay so little, and that's why the drivers can't drive for shit. But you gotta get your start somewhere...

  • I encourage you to post a video of your text book perfect driving and backing ability. I would like to see, apparently Ineed to learn from you, Master Yoda!

  • People will always laugh if you pull up and try 2+ times. But if you hit their rig.... the laughing stops.

  • Ya thats why we bring our scatter guns with us =)

  • woah one of switf's best drivers right there ! hahah what a tool it still took him for ever to get it in that spot ... swift= s-Stop w-Whinning i-im f-fucking t-Trying Or if you do i t back words.. t-Two f-faggets i-in w-white s-semi!
  • First off, "faggets" is spelled "faggot". Second, I have 2 reasons for why we took our time backing. 1- Safety first, you may think it's lame. But I'm still breathing and the other guy that passed me cussing is not. 2 - No hurry for us, I know when and where my next load will pickup. Do you?

  • What I love is the "hot shots" that back in quickly and don't get out of their truck then you walk by and see that they are all crookedy and don't really care to do their job because they are focused on doing it in one shot instead of making it safe for the forklift drivers.

  • Backing up a reefer blindside with a good setup is all that matters here. I don't see anyone else out there doing better (usually worse).

  • to you dumbasses that criticize the backing on this video,it doesn`t make a difference how many damn times you have to pull up as long as you bump the dock in my book w/o hitting anything regardless is a great job.

  • it isn't a big deal. take your time, pull up if you have to. a lot of criticism on his backing. so what, nobody is perfect.

  • S-Sure

    W-Wish

    I- I'd

    F- finished

    T- training
