I used to work in the kitchen at the German/American Society during 85' to 86' when Otto was the cook. Haha oh boy could he drink and cook up a storm.
Actually we charge $5 admission, to keep out cheapskates like you! We want people who enjoy a live band from Germany (and like any other band, they are costly!), who appreciate good German food and beer at a reasonable price, who understand that bigger isn't always better! So, go drink an American beer (at a higher price), listen to some local rock, have a taco or pizza, and enjoy another Oktoberfest while saving that $5 to get in!
It beats La Mesa's Oktoberfest by leaps and bounds in being a very authentic German celebration. Small as it is. I enjoy it as a very enjoyable social experience. Good food and REAL beer....not the off-the-shelf anemic swill my fellow American's prefer to drink.

El Cajon Oktoberfest is crap. They charge like $3 admission to a small as parking lot venue. Rip Off!
