@ranchycowgirl88 haha I was thinking the same. But a lot of people, including me when I use a clicker to train, use a big carrot and cut it into small pieces and it usually lasts a whole training session. It works wonders! you can do it with apples but they brown and can get rather sticky for our hands. Carrots work the best though! :D
wow! honestly wish I had the time to clicker train my boy... he's 2yrs at the moment and very quiet/well handled but with 2 young kids its very hard so I am extremely impressed with your technique! you should be really proud of yourself x
@shezell84 Thanks! I know what you mean about time - I am struggling myself at the moment. I do find with clicker training you can do 5 minutes here and there and it does add up to quite a lot! They learn fast and you don't need to train for hours, but it's still a challenge in the winter. Good luck with your young horse x
I'd be more afraid of the barrel than the horse... He seems gentle enough, much preferable to a wobbly barrel. The barrel looks more likely to buck you off.
Hi, no but Jardinero X is his grandaddy as specifically wanted one with him in the bloogline as hes such an amazing horse! Good luck with your boy he is stunning!!!!
Hi firstly your horse a lovley, just wondered who his dad was because i have a 4yo andalusian who is the almost the double of yours! I no his dad often produces youngstock with the lovley mettalic bay coat!!!! Thanks!!!
@aboabo101 Thanks! His Dad is Jardinero X - the stallion that Mel Gibson rode in Braveheart. Is he also your horse's dad? I'm glad you like Oto. Lucky you that you have a lovely Andalusian too!
This is great example to emulate. Silly me, before knowing of using any clicker methods, tried getting a leg up on my jumpier horse thinking he knew about being ridden bareback. He obviously didn't. The horse went ZING with a spin off bolt in opposite direction. I went kaflooey KERPLOP. I think your method is a lot smarter! :-)
@MegF142857 Thank you! I'm sure we've all had similar exeriences where we've made assumptions about horses being OK! Glad you surivived anyway. I'm not particularly brave these days and I find clicker feels really safe and fun compared to what I've done before.
Really lovely to see this. I have been planning to start my horse bareback since I had her and have refused to compromise and go down the conventional route. She is now 10 and not yet being ridden. Your video has given me some pointers for moving forward. We are already great clicker fans and my mare is remarkably similar energetically to your boy. There is the same sparkle that only clicker-trained horses seem to have! Thanks for sharing your special moments!
@Artificia Thank you for commenting and good luck with your horse. Great news that you are using clicker training to start her. I have been delighted with the results and I'm sure you will be too. Hope you post some videos!
Too many treats, your going to make him colic, and I can almost bet you he expects the treats even when he is doing nothing. Reward him when he is good or else he will be feasting all the time.
@abirdslife Thank you! I really appreciate you having a look and commenting. I just love what's possible with the clicker. He feels so safe and he enjoys it as much as I do!
ur horse is soo lovely and cuuute :) well done !! :)

Lovely horse. I just don't believe in all the treats. Otherwise, beautiful horse and nice rider :)

I like that you take the time with the barrel, which could have potentially been startling, especially with it moving around a bit.

Fantastic training Roz !!
Oto is extremely calm, and even though there is distractions, he is listening and responding to YOU.
Also a beautiful demonstration of 'how' you got from the ground to eventually getting onto his back 'and' moving forward.
Very nice clicking and showing 'how' to give a treat to your horse while mounted...
Great video Love it !!
