Of course, everyone's entitled to their own opinion; and mine is that people should be open-minded to talent around the world, not in just one area. Also, while people here are talking about Japan & USA specifically, I believe both countries have very talented singers ... but also not-so-great ones. But it DOES depends on your taste of music so not everyone's going to like Japanese or American music.

Also in no way are the Japanese the most TALENTED SINGERS IN THE WORLD!!! the only reason people think so is because they're stuck in the "JAPAN IS THE BEST COUNTRY EVER!" bandwagon. There are talented singers from all over the planet, and again - the reason they're not recognized as often is because of the mainstream. Name some Nico singers that are in the mainstream why don't you all? I can only think of Piko and he isn't even widely recognized yet.

Why does everyone have arguments about Japanese people only recognizing important music? I have heard plenty of CRAP, so don't act like it doesn't exist. It has nothing to do with the language, or the lyrics. Some people like really good music, but it's almost always fact that the only shit that ends up in the mainstream is meaningless garbage, (or about 98% of it?) It has nothing to do with North America, Japan, etc... it's just how things are.

It seems to me that on youtube for every good american singer, there are 2,360 better singers on Nico Nico. Oh... Why couldn't youtube be as strict as nico nico so my ears would be spared the horribleness of singers who THINK they can sing. @overclocker13 Yeah, i know what you mean. I think I know why, at least for me anyway. Korean doesn't flow like Japanese. Japanese words, almost 100% of the time, go consonant-vowel-consonant-vowe­l, if you know what I mean. There are double vowel combinations as well as double consonant, but for the most part it's not a blocky word. Japanese flows so much more easily.

I agree that there are crap in our modern music, but have you tried indie? they aren't famous, so they actually need a nice voice to be well liked.

Its really all on the lyrics. To make your song here in English speaking countries, you have to catch attention with songs about drugs, clubs, sex, etc. Songs that are really important don't get famous, but it doesn't mean they're not good.
