  • blowing sabbath evey night nice

  • What's the song that starts at 6:44? Please help me out, guys.

  • About 0:45 there is a song starting up... what's the name of it? I know it isn't anything from their official releaeses!

  • To much talking. Not enought rocking. We know, they're good. How many times do we have to hear it. Get to the music.

  • regarding "DD", I dig "Dancing In the Streets" & it made sense to me cos it was a party song but I hated "Pretty Woman" & "Happy Trails." Also, it's not like VH didn't put covers ("You really Got Me", "You're No Good" ,ect...) or oddball/filler songs on their older lp's ("Could This Be Magic", "Tora Tora") to begin with either. But yes, "DD" should've been better.

& they weren't putting out 2 lp's a yr. like KISS was doing from 1974-1979, w/lesser musicians. No excuse.

/KISS & Dave era VH fan.

  • "Diver Down" was the first Van Halen CD I did own. It is what made me into a fan. But it is the weakest of the original Van Halen CD's. Mainly because of the covers, they aren't bad, but most of the original tunes on it, everything from the album before "Fair Warning" and the album after "1984" is better. So I don't really get why David Lee Roth thought it was such a great idea to put that many covers on it. Especially when the originals they could have done instead would been better :)

  • they made"dancin in the streets GOLD!!! \,,/

  • man that would be almost like being in heaven The first time i heard VH, i was checking out a friends fretless wonder for the first time and talkiing up my god, Rhoads, and how it must be like heaven being able to own a Rhoads-like axe. Mike said, 'Van Halen's better. I'm like b.s. noone could be (i was 13, heard Randy at 12). Theyre like, 'you hav'nt heard him before'? I'm like no, so they play Erup. Were looking at each other during it , all 4 nodding hell yeah in awe. None noticed my erection

  • @darthvapir You should have worn Spandex

  • im pretty sure Van Halen 2 came out in 1980. Cuz van halen 1 came out in 1979. so how were they recording for van halen 2 in 1978?

  • @kDelPrete101

Van Halen I came out on Feb. 10, 1978. Van Halen II came out in March of '79.

  • Sales figures don't agree with all the Roth lovers...

  • the only thing that pisses me off about this documentary is that when they show VH playing, they play gay ass music making it seem like there playing it. WTF PLAY VH!!

  • I wish I was Dave's bodyguard

  • So much better with Dave. They jumped the shark with Sammy and did too many lovey-dovey bullshit songs. Sammy sucks

  • Thanks for sharing this documentary. Why haven't I ever seen this on MTV or VH-1?

  • Good Work !!!! Thanks 4 Posting !!!

  • Was the documentary unable to secure the rights to any of the actual "studio" work of Van Halen? Sounds like it.

  • Ironically, dancing in the streets is one of my fav covers by van halen. It has amazing and intricate guitar work in it. I can't imagine that albun without that song in it. Dave was right to include it.

  • Huh? Dave still probably gets more pussy within a year than you'll get within the next decade

  • Its great to hear about this behind the scenes stuff from some of the people who were there in the early years.

  • Love it!!!! Thank you!!!!

  • Mike Jagger,David Bowie, and VH should not have coverd " Dancing in the street",I thought I was the only one who thought that was not their style.

  • It don't get any better than this documentary. I've been a Van Halen fan from the start. This was my favorite band when I was in my teens (still is). This is kickass Van Halen stories told by members of the band. And all the guys that were there with the band from the start, Broderick, Emerson, etc., also have bitchin' Van Halen stories and accounts. Awesome vids!

  • Fair Warning is killer, but their first album had the better solos.

  • Comment removed

  • @rarebanana yes i know, dave asked him that, but at the time that guy asked me i didnt remeber it since i had only watched the documentary once XD

  • I wonder how many women Dave slept with.I would guess it has to be over 2,000 women.

  • Gee, I wonder if Dave ever hooked up with any hot chicks?

He probably hooked up with at least one or two....hmm....I wonder....

  • Like i said it has to be over 1000

  • great documentary. thanks for sharing.

was this catering to Templeman for the songs selection due to the label? why did they have to give in to their producer at this point in their career?
