some of the greatest experiences of my life have been listening to tool, i don't really know why, but I have listened to 10,000 days so many times and i never get bored of it, its like rewarding to listen through and get to Wings for Marie and the grinding heavy gui riffs. no guitars sound anything like the gui on this album. its like a full frontal assault that tears your soul right out of its body
tool was so much more raw back then......ive seen them live twice 2001 voodoo fest new orleans city park on lateralus tour, and again in pensacola in may of 2007 i think. they are my favorite band. i wish i could have seen them live on this.....
@katyeliz9 i think to create a reverb effect also maybe 1 mic has a different setting which would sound better with his yelling/singing then his more subtle singing on the other mic. maybe im wrong tho.
@bigpayne10 Well, just imagine every bass note and word maynard speaks literally going THROUGH you. Then get the head bobbin, start singin, and when the song picks up you just FREAK THE FUUUUUCK OUT!!!!!!!!! (I just did this all last night listening to Maynard and APC, lol.)
ive had to privlage of seeing them live 2x during my highschool years... ya i was fuccked up but still I have distinct memories ...you see these guys live...youll never forget thats for sure
@krete777 Tool is incredible live. I was at this 96 show in Cleveland. Was the best show ever. I know how you feel though.. I feel the same way about Pink Floyd. While I got to Rodger Waters this year, I fear I will never get to see Pink.. =(
@Kaahru THX for the enlightment! :D Will be the output sent on different speakers than, too? On the other hand: that's why we like this guy so much, because he can perform that dramatic. And that's why repeating sequences -- I mean, by some other metal bands -- without any climax or emphasis is IMAO no more enough, I need more... e.g. this one.
I saw TOOL live once, in 2009, but I was so high that I cant remember much of it. I need to see them again, but from what I CAN remember, it was definitely an experience of a lifetime. These videos do not do the live experience justice.
are you guys seriously comparing maynards voice to scott stapp?!!!!!! Are you guys fucking retarded????????!!!!!!!! i know maynards voice isnt what it used to be but goddamn guys, scott stapp is GARBAGE
@maynardrocks10 NO I wasnt comparing his voice to Scott Stapps or anyones.. I was referring to live perfomance's...It's just my opinion that Maynard doesnt push his voice all of the time in concert....
I saw both shows at Redrocks this summer and he did actually pushit a few times.... I already bowed my head in shame for throwing Stapp into that Statement....
I just saw Tool live in 2010 (sacramento, CA) and it was kind of a disapointment...keynes...just hid the entire time...cool background visual, but no sign of the lead singer..
@dmoyer111 He's been hiding for years on the stage... Never pushes his voice....Love the guy but People like Robert Plant, Lou Grahm, Scott Stapp, Kid Rock never held back when were paying our hard earned dollars to come see them.
@tmpc45 hmmm...this is odd. why do you need to see his eyebrows to make it a better experience? i think it rounds out the experience when the focus is off the singer actually. he can be seen, just not totally clearly. non traditional, but thats tool, no?
and as far as never pushing his voice, ive seen them four times and its sonically its always stellar. but youre right, hes no scott stapp.
@kidsareoverrated I dont need to see any ones eye brows.. There called front men for a reason.. But i have no problem with Tools setup.. I love it.. There always different. Ok so Scott Stapp was a bad example but he does push his voice..
Ive seen tool 5 times and not once have i heard Maynard push his voice....
But again im not complaining... Tool is about the best band out there right now.
@tmpc45 everybody you mentioned is full-fledged flaming gay when compared to the balls and sensitivity that maynard has. a fact that most people here know...which leads me to believe that you listening to Tool is like throwing pearls before swine.
@crowkangi So Robert Plant, Lou Grahm, Kid Rock are flaming gay? Im not mentioning the other guy. I'll give you that one. Every single one of them has had more pussy then you could get in 50 lifetimes. Not that that i give a shit! "Pearls at Swine" Did you look that one up? I appreciate their value. I wish they would put out more music.
But as the saying goes.. opinions are like Assholes and everybodies got one.
Haha, I liked it when Maynard kicked lol. I also really like his stage presence, it makes him seem awkward but because he's Maynard it's actually cool.
@Sasquash i disagree because tool has created a fanbase because of their live shows. anyone that has been to a tool concert can agree with me that the visual part of the show goes hand in hand with the music.
You misunderstood me. I was referring to an older post about the fact that they're not very animated on stage. They're not the type of guys to jump around on stage like a bunch of morons. Rather focusing on the music and using lighting/screens etc for the visual side of things. I agree with you, their live visuals are indeed something to behold.
@Sasquash Actually.. I think when your at Tools height , what you look like becomes an art too. And then you end up living your art and showing others how to live also. But what does "live" mean? .... hmmm
This is Pomona. The first show of the AEnima tour...I remember having a video of this concert back in the late nineties...I thought it was fantastic back then, and after an other decade of experience on this mortal coil, I stand in reverence to these great group of artists. What a fantastic song!
I love how people like you are so quick to get angry and pass judgement on things they dont understand. The guy makes a harmless (and funny in my opinion) joke and you try to make yourself look better by pointlessly insulting him. How fucking mature you must be. (that was sarcasm in case you forgot how to read emotion)
One of the legendary rock tunes, from the golden shore to the depths of the dank mine. So says my youth, so says my adulthood, so says my old age. So says the heavens. Thanks tool. Back to the golden shore. I can smell the salt and imagine the whales swimming next to me.
