@bigedd2008 " Internal Base Clock tuning from 100MHz up to 500MHz at 1MHz increment" regarding OCing your rig. An on board mobo reset switch, plus extra fans and gear for watercooling regarding the premium version of this board. Those are the only differences I could see in a side by side analysis.

@bigedd2008 except for having one less lan port not much. I went with the P6X58D-E and I'm very happy with it. Plus with the money you save you can upgrade another component that will actually give you more performance

Those are SATA ports, not controllers... The controller is on the southbridge. Sorry I know that came out as pretentious, but it bothered me a little.

There is actually 6 Intel sata ports.You missed the 2 of em. I've had this motherboard for about a month and its the best board i ever tried. Rock solid and has deluxe quality power phases.

Why do people keep calling this CPU the "Core i9?"

It is a Core i7 980X.

Is it an older 'code-name' or something?

no. back before they OFFICIALLY new that this chip was coming out, the rumors said it was going to be categorized under the new i9 series because the i7 975 extreme was the big boss, and making a more powerful chip in the SAME series didn't make sense.

i use the asus p7p55D pro mobo wich is nice but doesnt even include a sli bridge wich is bizar cause its an sli mobo. all well p55 is great for budget people like meh ^^
