L.A. , North East. Don't go there. No good paying loads, unless you're a GARBAGE HAULER, And even then, there is no good money in reefers or dry vans. If it can't be driven on or loaded by crane, it isn't worth hauling. Heavy Haul is the way to go. That is unless you just like riding the beaten path, IE: the interstate. You will never see the country that way. Yeah, when i first started, way back in 79, it was dry van and reefer, but for the past 20 years, Dont use truck stops unless fueling.

@YungATMHearMe its not driving its the wasting time at docks wating to get loaded right now you will make like 15cents per mile 300buks a week and get 2500miles max its a rip off i have been out here 10 years its has been a waste of time ready to quit my self its bull and driving a govrned down truck you will avarage 40 45 miles per hour in a 60mph truck very tiering and boring

@arturdrozdz297374 10 years huh. i started in 1979, and still driving. A word of advice, get away from the regular freight, and get into specialized freight, Heavy Haul, then on to the super loads. More money there, but , a lot of back roads. Most of the super loads i run average a week, just to go 750 miles, but those loads usually land me around 6300 bucks just for a week. Lots of dead head, but most of the times worth it. I do not run California nor the north east.

@YungATMHearMe its not the driving driving is easy once you become a driver you become a hostage to the company some keep you out weeks at a time and starting pay right know is realy messed up for new drivers you can make more at mcds and be home every night you wil have to wait a long time at docks and you will average 2200 mi maybe 2500 alot of regulations to wory about soits not just driving
A "plan of attack" studied beforehand helps out when finding customers. Study the maps and write it out in a shorthand you can glance at while driving. (e.g. I-10W, X Rose St TL, Hammond Ave TR, Sunset St TL) X is exit, TL is turn left, etc. GPS and calling the shipping/receiving guys help too.

@YungATMHearMe you'd do better to ask what is the easiest part of trucking.
Driving the truck down the road is the easy part.
Now the hardest part.
1) dealing with other drivers ( 4 wheelers,etc)
2) staying awake behind the wheel.
3) dealing with dispatchers who think truck can fly from point A to Point B
4) dealing with shippers and receivers (getting held up at docks for hours at a time)
5) staying awake behind the wheel.
6) Being gone from family for a week or two at a time.
