  • Greatest video ever Stew! Love it and your talent!

  • @mikelinkmusic Mike, you honor me, man! Thank you so much!!!

Hoping to get a new vid up soon as I have got the strap at the correct height now and have been both working on the sound of the bass and just playing it a lot more.

    Stay tuned!!

  • Hey Stew, that thing is massive! Wanted to share with you my favorite parts of this video!

5:43, 5:51, 5:56, 6:03, 6:13, 6:15, 6:26, 6:28, and 6:29! The insane laughter those parts caused helped me clear my lungs of this crud that's been following me around for days! Thanks Dr. Stew! Hope things are going great for you and tell Bill C I said hey! :)

  • @donniecastleman Ha ha ha ha ha!!

Glad you enjoyed, man, and I will absolutely pass on your words to the Master!

  • Nice tree.

  • @noodleking456 Several of them, actually. But no endangered species. Alder, purpleheart, and yellowheart.

  • Got a silly question, i won't mind if you don't want to answer it... But how tall you are? Just for a reference point, that bass looks really humongous! Also, really cool playing :)

  • @JanoElBozo First, thank you for the kind words!

Second, I'm about 5' 9" or 1.75M tall. Most average. The bass is a beast!

  • Please grow your hair back =]

  • @TheMightyPnut Ha ha ha ha!!!

    It's coming back even now!

  • @stewmc5222 I have a question... i was wondering what's your lowest note and what's youy highest note? good job man!

  • @JorgeMusicZone The lowest note and the highest note are both C#. That means my lowest open string is nearly an octave lower than a standard tuning on a 5 or 6 string bass. The highest note is the fretted note on my 27th fret. The high open string is a Bb.

  • @stewmc5222 thanks for the info man! you are a very good bassist!

  • @JorgeMusicZone Thank you for the kind words!!

    : )

  • Don't be modest, that was good playing! And that is one HEAVY bass. How much did u have to pay for that, if I may ask?

  • @Sabiano You are very kind. Thank you! The bass is really not that heavy. Not light, but it is not as heavy as you think. And I have an endorsement with Conklin Basses so my price is a little different than most people pay, but you can contact the shop for pricing.

    Thank you again!

  • Whats the lowest note on that bass?

  • @TheBrendrum C#, nearly an octave lower than a 5 or a 6 string bass.

  • WHOA! Crazy guitar. LOVE IT! :) hugs♡dani

  • @DLSings Thank you AGAIN!! Now I just need to learn to make MUSIC!!

    :D

  • That was a refreshing change from the usual extended range base playing I see.

  • @superstriker00 Well, I messed around with the two-handed stuff in the 80's and it just didn't really fit with the rest of my vocabulary on bass. I admire the cats who do it, but I am coming from somewhere different.

Thank you for watching the video!

  • @stewmc5222 Hey, it's a fun thing to do, and it's difficult, but what you do demonstrates a different style that players may find more accessible.

  • Stew you are quite the ass for playing that bum note at 5:45... and again and again after that, lol. Quite a character... :). I'm Tbirdbassist on Talkbass, I've looked at this bass for years now and never heard it, it sounds monstrous. I remember when it was still being built, haha. I'm not much for the high register stuff, but do yo have recordings of low note rumbling? That tickles my fancy just a bit more. ;) Hope all is well.

  • @TheCellTheorem Ha ha ha ha!! Thank you for the kind words, Tbird! I am still experimenting with strings a bit and the amp rig we used for this video really doesn't have enough power or room to do those lows justice, but the next time it's on video may be VERY different.

    Thank you for your input!

    : )

  • Just out curiosity how tight is the finger spacing on that bass? and what's it like having access to the low C# and F# strings? :O Because considering getting a Conklin 8 string strung low C# to High C.

  • @SubliminalSmurf Bill did 17mm spacing on this one. It's pretty comfortable. Would love to get the specs on that 8!!

  • LOL classic Stew!!!! Laughed so hard from 5:45 on still laughing trying to type!!!! See you an NAMM? Cant wait to tear up the Westone booth again!!!!

  • @baskone88 Can't wait, Dray!! Hey, did you text me this last week??

  • Chuck Norris wants his Ukulele back !

  • @benji0001 Ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!

    :D

  • I hurt my jaw when i dropped it on the floor. Seriously, that is the biggest bass I have ever seen, haha. Awesome playing! :)

  • @huglojsk Ha ha ha ha!!!

Thank you very much for the kind words and for the humor!!

    : )

  • Wow awesome! What's the tuning for all those strings? :D

  • @vomitbrown Thank you so much!

The bass keeps a fourths tuning, from a low C# up to a high Bb.

    : )

  • Wow awesome! xD What's the tuning for all those strings? :D

  • FUCKING GIANT BASS

  • Man, whats the scale length on that thing?

  • @MetalKen 34"!

  • @MetalKen He Has said in another video that it is a normal 34. It`s the wideness of the neck that makes it look a lot bigger.

  • is it you small or the bass is huge lol

  • @d0d0Lgarutz BOTH!!!

    :D

  • Why do people always seem to make stupid comments on how many strings a bass or guitar have?? it is extended range! so many dumb comments on the instruments, if someone added an extra octave to a piano or a harp no one would complain but on a guitar. sorry for rant just something i have noticed and needed to vent! sweet playing man!

  • @SpiritualHealing1349 There is no way to know what people think or to understand why they do what they do. Everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion, but I thank you VERY MUCH for the kind words and support!

    : )

  • Impressive and fancy enough Stew!! You can see you feel at home on this bass.

  • @eadvine You are too kind, Edwin. Thank you, man! Have you had your surgery yet?

  • @stewmc5222 My left hand is in bandages now. Tuesday i had the surgery on it. Still feeling sore. Can't lift a thing for the next weeks. In february it's my right hands turn.

  • @eadvine Keeping a good thought for you, my friend! Take care and heal soon!!

  • @stewmc5222 Thx mate!

  • @eadvine You are always welcome, man!

    : )

  • My brother! do it!

  • @BassmanDannyFox Workin' on it, man!

  • I think the 4.5" heel on the wide 7 I built was huge but that is insane!

  • @clementbassdotcom Ha ha ha ha!!

Yeah, it's a little over the top...

    ; )

  • very cool Stew...t

  • @clementbassdotcom Thanks, Tom!

  • *HOOOOONK*

    Made me laugh :D

    Impressive stuff!

  • @Slivarito :D

I am glad you enjoyed it!

    :D

  • why don't you get a better camera and record audio separately? I mean it's not expensive anymore to get something decent. And video editing is simple and fun. I've learned it in just a few days.

  • @basstheworldbyvideo At the moment, Gregor, I am without funds altogether. The videos are shot at my work with the shop camera. Someday soon I hope to get a camera of my own and one that is more versatile!

If you have suggestions for equipment, I would love to hear them!!

    Thank you very much!!

    : )

  • YAH!!!! A new vid with the 10. Awesome.

    Thanks Stew

  • @chrapladm Thank you for the kind words, David. I am glad you like it!

    Domo arigato gozaimasu!

  • man how can you play that monster? i have difficults with my 5-string and with that!?!?!?!??!!?

  • @alpedistas1 I think you would be surprised. It is very natural to play!

  • Good lord, that thing must be heavy. I don't even want to think about trying to slap on it and not hit the wrong strings. What is the tuning on that thing? It looks like it'd be quite uncomfortable to play, especially on the lower strings. And I did notice that you didn't play on them much.

LOL @ 5:43... Happens to all of us.

I'm pretty sure I would hate playing that thing... haha.

  • @minusjason It is not as heavy as you would think. The bass is tuned in fourths, from a low C# up to a high Bb. I didn't really hit the low strings because I know the microphone on this camera cannot track those notes.

  • Last night I played a show, and everyone seemed so impressed by my 10 string, but I told them all to check you out instead if they wanted to see an actually good player.

You never fail to impress me Stew! :D

    -Tom

  • @Spookycadaver Tom, as always, you are WAY too kind but I thank you sincerely!
