I wasn't around in the 80s, but one of the reasons I think the passion isn't there for the "fighters" is because most teams don't hang on to a fighter for very long. Parros is one of the few guys who has found a home in Anaheim. Other than that, most of them are journeymen.
If teams held on to a single fighter for more than a couple years, rivalries like Pitt/Wash would have another factor; their two tough guys.
Even bout, refs stepped in to early. LET...THEM...GO. I don't mind the sportmanship after a fight. There are still plenty of anger induced fights. Nice to see the two heavyweights tip their hats to each other after an even fight that was stopped early.
As a huge hockey fight fan through the 80's and 90's i'm a bit disappointed with fighting these days. I'm not a huge fan of premeditated hockey fighting or fights that occur for no reason at all. But worst of all, is when the fight is over and the 2 players start tapping each other on the ass or rubbing each others heads. In the 80's and 90's fights occured out of anger and there was no ass patting afterwards. I hate to say it, but today's "fighters" have ruined my interest in hockey fights.
Clear win for Parros. One of the only Heavyweight fights we've seen and probably will see this year. Seems like after Boogaard and Belak passed away the GM's meetings had a lot to do with fighting and they all agreed to sit their heavyweights for most games. Colton Orr i think has only dressed for about 3 games, Matt Carkner has only dressed for 1 game etc.
McGratton definitely got a lot more heavy hits in. Parros basically just knocked his helmet off only. Not sure he even connected a punch with his face. Ill give the preds the win on this one
fucking refs !!! I´m waiting one month for a fight between true heavyweights in this pussy year of NHL, that´s always Chipchura - Mayers, Marchand - Niskanen, Adams - Winchester and these types of fighters .. just little boring, and that assholes stop this HW fight so fast ... McGrattan was llittle shocked too ... Good Win for Parros, he landed clear bombs
haha the wierd thing is that Parros grew up in my town and went to Delbarton Highschool in NJ. Not that that makes me special or anything. Good to see McGratton get beat up though.
@gleeson630 When did McGrattan get beat up ? If you think McGrattan lost then I'd have to challenge the validity of your claim about having gone to school.
@ThaOneChrisJONES he got beat up as much as mcgratten is gonna get beat up, its was a pretty even fight but i had to exaggerate alittle. and i never said anywhere i went to school haha, though obviously i did.

That awkward moment when you punch so hard you unbuckle your opponents helmet.

hmm... usually the stripes only jump in when the fighters say they're tired.

@arheedee I agree, players should fight when they are in rage.. I still like to watch these, but you are right.

mcgrattans flaws were evident here while he looked close to unbeatable in his first few fights this year
mcgrattan sticks his chin out too much and doesnt play defensive enough and almost invites the shots saying how he'll take watever and keep throwing
also when his right arm is tied up as it was here, hes not nearly as effective and just takes more punches than dishes

Either a draw or a close close win by Parros; I can't believe how well Parros did personally, McGrattan has ANNIHILATED his opponents this year

George missed on quite a few. And why isn't he fighting as much this season? I guess cause his good luck mustache is gone.
