  • the thing about heritage is that mikael cant keep on fucking his throat like before

  • @SebaChannel forgive me I'm new to Opeth but wasn't there another album without growls? When did Mikael say that growling is fucking his throat?? There are so many other vocalists who never did anything other than growling and they still are !

  • @Asmodi666 yes, damnation was just progressive rock but it was made along with deliverance wich was pure death metal. mikael has said that he cant growl like before and he have to take care of his throat, thats why heritage was like jazz, funk metal or someting like that, still he can growl like no one does

  • @SebaChannel actually he didn't said anything about fucking up his throat but that he isn't into growls anymore... he just likes singing normally now... i think that he said it somewhere in interview... i am sorry for him not to growl anymore but just because i wanted to here Bleak and Ghost of Perdition live...

  • @Olzannemops : I wanna just to answer to your comment.

If you're comparing heritage to Morningrise, orchid, deliverance and others, you don't really know what's Opeth ..

There Is no new stuff, opeth is opeth, you say PETER has not done anything, he just attended the best albums of Opeth.

For LOPEZ, nothing to say..... you don't know anything in music.

Opeth for me are MIKAEL , PETER, MENDEZ and LOPEZ forever

  • la raja esta banda :D

  • 1:14 this solo is so magic!

  • 3:41 a moment of full inspiration!!

  • Comment removed

  • Man, Peter just sounds so smooth compared to Fredrik.

  • Lopez isn't as good for the new stuff, just like Axe isn't as good for the old stuff.

They both play their parts. Lopez was a VERY good drummer, and so is Axe.

Listen to Heritage, and tell me Axe doesn't fuckin' HANDLE that album. I'll catch you in a lie.

  • my <3 from this album

  • I've tried to pick a favorite Opeth song and I just cant do it! I love them all, I head bang to the hard songs in the car and fall asleep at night to the softer ones like this one.

  • @ChevelleMalibu402 Same here, I remember falling asleep to Windowpane but oddly in bed I fell asleep to When and Porcelain Heart

  • Damnation.......

  • 0:18 Bitch having an orgasm

  • Oh Lopez... dude wtf pls. they need u so much.... take this band once again back to where they belong... they are struggling so hard without both you and Peter

  • @Olzannemops They are not even close to struggling. Sure, Lopez had an impact on the band, but the final word always came down to Mike with the music. Watershed is brilliant, some of the best prog writing I have heard. I can't wait for heritage too

  • @Olzannemops Peter has done absolutely nothing for the band. Despite ANYTHING you say. He has not done a single thing. His riffs were not good enough, so obviously he had no hand in songwriting.

Honestly, if Mikael thinks Frederik is well suited for the part, he most likely is. And as for Axe vs. Lopez, it's 2 different eras of Opeth drumming. Axe is carrying the torch, they're not struggling at all. Heritage is the best album to-date.

  • I trust Mikael's judgement, if he thinks Axe is good enough then so do I.

  • LOPEZ 2012! haha.....no seriously though Martin Lopez get your fucking bad ass Latin drumming ass back in the band!

  • The face of Lopez explain us all song lyrics ....

  • Opeth should make a Pink Floyd cover.

  • There is a pig screaming in this video ¬¬

  • the voice sounds terrible... =/ . nevertheless opeth rules!

  • 4 dislikes?...........Is something so very wrong with people?

  • 4 people misclicked.

  • 'Give us a big scream, will ya.' Wow. just- Wow. Perfect Pornstar voice.

  • I prefer mikael's voice in the new dvd even though this version is awesome.

  • wow never heard these before this, i like it, very different, hopefully should be good at sonisphere, cant wait :)

  • Comment removed

  • beeeeeest.

  • But...I prefer this version,Mike's voice is more touching and Lopez is unreachable!

  • 5:15 :D

  • PERFECT

  • Great song/ band but Mikael looks like he's jacking at 2:58 lol

  • FIVE GODSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

  • well i love lopez and i miss him too, but axe is still really good. but i don't like akesson, they need peter back too.

  • Musicianship between Peter and Mikael... Fucking rocks!!!! \,,/

  • ... I wanna know what the mellow evil song is :(

  • @imonyourfacewoot It's To Rid The Disease :)

  • Axe's drumming is far superior in creativity and sound.

  • @GlamGlenn superior to lopez!? no way, listen to "windowpane" and "the leper affinity" from lamentations with lopez and then to the robotic axe's versions... opeth needs lopez

  • "There is a wound that's always bleeding

There is a road I'm always walking

And I know you'll never return to this place"

    Really beautiful its my story

  • Mr Lopez,please come back?...Opeth NEEDS you!

  • @suspensiondude Guessing you didn't like Watershed....Axe isn't Lopez but he is still an extremely talented drummer. I wouldn't say Opeth NEEDS Lopez....only if they recruited Joey Jordison of Slipknot. Then they'd be in deep shit.

  • i havent listened to opeth in a few months so i go on youtube to watch a live version of face of melinda and i cant stop listening to more songs. Damn opeth is so good DAMN

  • I love how they have a shitload of hardcore deathmetalhead fans :P

  • @ChaplainDMK me too... actually i was first just a deathmetalhead but nowadays i listen also prog rock and metal and also Post rock and post metal... :D love opeth and porcupine tree

  • @MarBoLOL

That's the best... Fuck genres, just listen to what you like :)

I listen to evreything from Miles Davis, Lynyrd Skynyrd to Agent Orange, Offspring, Nirvana to Metallica, Slayer, Overkill to Dream Theater, Pink Floyd, Opeth to The Who, The Doors to Morbid Angel, Death, Bolt Thrower etc.

Just listen to what catches your ear :)

  • @ChaplainDMK i'm like that too. i noticed i have this kind of cicle. sometimes i go into jazz, to blues, sometimes even to classical (Beethoven rocks! seriously!!). i listen to rap but only to tupac cause his lyrics and emotions in the songs are really legit. i think any music can be listened to. what i appreciate is the emotion or the message that the artist is trying to get across. as long as i can get that, i enjoy.

this is the reason why i hate pop. they dont have any deep message.

  • opethhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • he is kinda pompous isn't he?

  • upon further reflection, i do believe you to be right

  • his nose gets bigger while singing :d

  • i just like the music. who the fuck cares what genre it has to belong to. pretty fucking shallow. man, where do these fucking morons come from? is stupidity worldwide?

  • @ocdverified MAXIMUM TROLLERDRIVE

  • @ocdverified The unfortunate and sad answer is yes.

  • @ShewhoisSplit i was afraid of that

  • i just like the music. who the fuck cares what genre it has to belong to. pretty fucking shallow

  • I hate that screaming bitch even more at 5:15. 0:20 is nothing compared to the ear fuck that is 5:15.

  • @RaeperFawks If I could I'd choke her with a cork, but seeing as she's just excited about seeing and experiencing an extremely creative, soothing, and well put together band...I'll give 'er a break. :)

  • love the bass line

  • at :20....some bitch just gave birth.

  • @Tuatara8081

derp i guess the fact something isn't metal means it's crap straight away if youre thirteen this is acceptable if not. grow up

  • haha 0:20 soo funny

  • I'm not that much into death metal (sure I do listen to some of it -melodeath for the most part), but opeth is just in a whole new level

  • @Tuatara8081 nothing wrong with doing both sides of the coin why should a metal band stick to metal listening to metal is diversity and this band does that so well

  • @Tuatara8081 not this song obviously, but they are in general.

  • @Tuatara8081 I agree. You can't call it metal based on them being a metal band.

  • @darkinmysilence That would make too much sense

  • many days I've passed in a melancholy bliss pondering what the song order would have been had Deliverance and Damnation been together as intended

  • 4 retards disliked it

  • Compren el DVD malditos -.-"

    D:

  • 1:13 i fucking love it

  • I miss Lopez...

  • @Deraek I miss looking at him too

  • 2:50 to 3:03 Gets me every time! The most chilling part of the song on the album and live. I love the little extra that Mikael adds on right at 2:51. That sound is just trancing!

  • @lambofgodsc I got the chills with that dude...you are right trancing!!!

  • @lambofgodsc

Man, I get lost it that part he plays every time I hear it.

  • Love the band, Love the hot guy (singer) and Love the sensual great music.

  • Lopez's drumming is made of love

  • I DON'T GET IT. WHY IS IT SO GREAT? It's clean guitars with phases of death metal, not revolutionary or genius work.

  • @LessthanJake14

"I Don't get it" was the only true statement you made. You just don't get it. Mikael Akerfeldt is a genius. "clean guitars" doesn't sum it up whatsoever. The lyrics are brilliant and the guitar parts are very uniquely written. That's why Opeth has lasted for 20 years now.

So Less than Jake is genius work.? *scoff*

  • @HitlerSongs Lol, I love it when imbeciles appeal to my name as a valid argument as to why I don't know what I'm talking about. Check the profile there, buddy!

Secondly, they're alright, I'm not digging at them, I just don't see the profound depth that others apparently do. But, then again, I think Cynic's Focus is one of the finest pieces of music ever to be written, some only hear death metal with cleans (ironic, right?). Different perspectives, I guess.

  • @LessthanJake14

Ok I guess that makes sense. You're right I do see some profound depth in Opeth that others don't get. Your comment also inspired me to listen to Focus again, which I haven't done for a while. So thanks. But I'm not an "imbecile" for looking at your name (together with your comment) and thinking you were just some mainstream listener who was ripping on Opeth for no reason.

  • @HitlerSongs Ohhhhh no. I can appreciate what they do, but I just cannot see their profound complexity like so many others can.

Although that being said I do appreciate some bizarre shit which many just hear as noise.

  • @LessthanJake14 It's transportive music. It takes you to another realm, one of lonliness and solem comfort. Judging by your screenname, it's obvious you wouldn't get it.

  • @BruisedEyeSockets Judging by your attention span, I'm surprised you get it either.

Try reading above, buddy; this has already been discussed before.

But bless you for trying. *Pat* *pat*

  • @LessthanJake14 Well mind me for bringing it back up. I felt like discussing it.

  • @BruisedEyeSockets Okay, here's the discussion: I hate Less Than Jake. My name is Jake. Its purpose was for irony one night when rather inebriated.

I understand the whole concept of music as transport. Hell, I love bands that are similar to Opeth (Cynic, Mastodon, Ayreon). However, I have NEVER felt on the same level of immersion as so many people claim they are when listening to Opeth. Although, I am completely immersed with the bands stated above. I appreciate Opeth's work, however.

  • @LessthanJake14 Wow. Respect for Cynic. Some of the coolest dudes in metal.

  • @BruisedEyeSockets I genuinely believe that Paul Masvidal is one of the greatest musical geniuses of the last 30 years.

  • @LessthanJake14 Me too. I met him in June, he's such a weird guy.. He is maybe 4 foot 11 haha.

  • @BruisedEyeSockets Whaaaaat?! That's small for such a musical GIANT (see what I did there?).

  • @LessthanJake14 I feel the same towards the bands you mentioned, they dont have the atmosphere Opeth creates, their more of rock\metal bands with not much feelings into the song itself... I do respect them and listen to them though obviously, their good bands

  • @3dDuke Honestly? Listen to Devin Townsend to hear expressionism.

  • @LessthanJake14 Dude I know Devin Townsend Project and Strapping Young Lad, these are good musical projects indeed =P

  • @3dDuke FUCK YEAH. =P

  • @LessthanJake14 I still prefer Opeth to an extent though lol, it kinda inspires me, specially when I'm in extreme moods

  • @LessthanJake14 Oh yeah when it's on paper it's definitely not hard. I can play this song backwards. But composing such a beautiful music is the hardest part. And if you "don't get it" this kind of music is definitely not for you.

  • @aznhxor I get transporting music, I listen to A LOT of things in a similar vein but Opeth has just never cut it for me. I understand the appeal of Opeth, but I personally have heard better.

  • opeth is one of the bests bands in the world.

  • This song is God's gift to Music.

  • i'd say they play progressive, actually.

  • either this or to rid the disiese is my fav damnation song. opeth is so amazing. when i first herd this album i was amazed at how much this band could realy do and just how talented they are

  • So... what was the next song :D

  • He has a beautiful voice!

  • NO IT DOESN'T

  • Something that the same Akerfeldt said in an interview, he doesn't care about modern metal, mainly because they just stay rooted in a genre... example, al these new "death metal" bands that just are a copy of the old glories of that genre, as Death or Morbid Angel, I have to say that despite I love Death Metal, I think it is becoming a fuckin sterile genre, we need more bands like Opeth, that despite of making brutal shit like 'Demon of the Fall', they can experiment and make beautiful music

  • I hope someone stabbed that chick at 0:20 .

  • @SickDrummer2438 I think that's what you were hearing XD

  • @SickDrummer2438 Sounded like she was getting fucked. Hard.

  • I would love to rip the face off the annoying Cunt who won't stop screaming. Someone at the gig already should have. Other than that, awesome performance of a great song.

  • no puedo esperar por su nuevo DVD

  • its pretty fucking incredible when you think about it. One moment its brutal fucking death metal, the other its as balladish as it can get xD Opeth is my favorite band ever, love you guys <3 \m/ proud to be swedish

  • I can't believe how much i love this band. 5 Years strong, i'll be listening to this when i'm old and grey =P

  • @Zellonium i have 10 years listening to them and every day i love their music more and more

  • This is Opeth I really like. I appreciate all the Death Metal fans, but for me - this calm progressive rock is just the best!

  • pepinillovaliente jajaajjajja parece un nombre sacado de bob esponja jajajaj, gracias por el aporte muy bueno opeth, lo que sea que toquen es del tamaño de el unverso en belleza.... pepinillovaliente brutalllll

  • how many DVS's do Opeth have???

  • #epic

  • f'cking wonderful.. x)

  • 3 dislikes is 3 too many.

  • @ruffunitlm Yeah the thumbs up button is too close to the thumbs down button. I am pretty sure those 3 dislikes were just mis-clicks. =)

  • Just to make you all jealous, I'd better say I was in the front row at this gig. It was awesome.

  • I hate that bitch at 0:20

  • @MrLosfuegos xDDD

  • @MrLosfuegos Actually it's a guy. He did the same thing in another song on the DVD and we can see him.

  • @martshred It's a guy? He's still a bitch, and we hate him.

  • @plarles Right

  • @MrLosfuegos lol I thought you were talking about the finger positioning on the guitar... like it's a real bitch to play that! Or I thought you were calling Peter a bitch... but then I thought... nahh there's no way he's saying that, he must be talking about the BITCH shrieking... but the thing is, the bitch loves opeth... so yeah... she'd still be my wife.

  • @MrLosfuegos I think we all hate the bitch at 0:18

  • @AndresMetalSubtitula everybody... everybody

  • muy buen video man

y aparte pinche rolota de opeth

    Makes me happy

  • Theres nothing like opeth, their perfect lyrics and awesome music.... with songs like this, tears crack out...

  • epic musician and epic band. Anything sounds good with Akerfeldt in the picture!

  • Opeth is not the same without Peter and López... this really was the perfect line up!

  • @hgms2387 Agree!! especially wihtout Peter...

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MARTIN MENDEZ!!!

  • Does anyone know how loud Opeth concerts usually are? I know this is an odd question but i really need to know.

  • This song brings a special someone to my head...

  • lol...

Mikael: 'Just because it's slightly mellow doesn't mean it's any less evil, does it'

    Audience member: 'NO IT DOESN'T!'

  • Opeth is very dynamical..... and very nice

  • Comment removed

  • Someone was murdered at 5:16!!! :P

  • Great band - great song.

Too bad that the band isn't the same now, with the new drummer and all.

  • Martin cut his hair because Mikael made fun of it with Martin's no-no headbanging style, or so I heard. :P

  • Nah his barber messed it up

  • lot of pink floyd on this song \m/ \m/

  • you are right!! :)

  • In my time of need def Floyd.. Not this as much at all! :) but nice someone else got that idea

  • i wonder if having long hair is a requirement to play in this band

  • No ofcourse not. Bassplayer cut his hair.

  • He cut it like 3 years ago now.

  • It's really tiring seeing people always complaining about missing Lopez and Peter on every freakin' Opeth song. Seriously, axe and Frederik are great.

    *awaits the inevitable down-thumbing*

  • this song always brings me down

  • There are some pretty tricky high notes in this song but Akerfeldt hits pretty much all of them, the music is also brilliant! Opeth is consistently AMAZING live! I hope they come to New Zealand soon :)

  • no it wasn't :p i mean lopez is great but axe is more consistent and i won't even talk about fredrik he's an awesome guitar player

  • This was OPETH's finest lineup of band members.

  • IMHO real opeths was the first lineup with nordin and de farfalla, buto I love every single album of their discography, Mike is a fucking genius

  • This was not the first lineup. The original Opeth formed in 1990 as a black metal band of which Mikael was not a member. They brought Mikael in as bass player on some sessions and the band (supposedly because of Mikael) disbanded. Mikael and Isberg were the only ones left and they decided to continue the band with some dudes they knew, who all eventually left. It wasn't until 2002 that all the guys you see on that stage got together.
