@MAXTAP I disagree, because he would be on the new drugs that they're all on today along with them. He is also still considered to have the best physic proportionally and wasn't very far from the size that they're hitting today with just the gear they had back then.

All the time. But not on Olympia stage. I find it quite insulting that people talk about the freaks at the Mr. Olympia all the time, as if all juiced pro bodybuilders look like that. It's not like when bodybuilder decides to juice, he will look like Ronnie Coleman the next day. It's a very slow proces, first he will be bigger than natural bodybuilder, then he will be buff, then he will get the size of the 70s bodybuilders, then of the 80s, then the 90s and so on, there is no shortcut.

The judges think differently, the Olympia isn't about who is the prettiest.
There are still plenty of other contests where the contenders have the physiques of the 70s, it's not rare (altho none of them have the Arnold genetics of course). They exist, they are working hard everyday, stop generalising todays juicers.
BBing is an underground sport, it's just that the Olympia sees the light of day more often in the alternative media, but it's still far removed from the mainstream media
Scorecards don't have "no gut" checkbox for points. Aesthetics is indeed one of the criteria, but it aint over for you if you score low on that department, as we know, size and conditioning is where the most points can be one at the Olympia.
It doesn't mean that symmetry and proportions aren't important, it just that most of the guys at the Olympia are already at a very high level in that department, only thing to really stand out is to have more mass and better conditioning.
@DjiEnn A 'gut' looks just terrible,it ruins aesthetics-it should be completely over if someone has an uneasthetic physique.Its not a meat market,where weight and size plus lack of bodyfat wins.Cutler is a prime example of an unaesthetic,blocky physique-never should that physique win an Olympia.
Very few are at a very high level in symmetry and proportion-Heath is,though he too has obvious failings (calves) For true symmetry and proportion see Sergio,Padilla,Leidelmeyer-not todays freaks.
It just where you but more emphasize on. I for one prefer mass and conditioning, so if a competitor has a gut then it aint a huge minus for me if he scores very high on mass and conditioning.
Arnold is one of my fav, but I think the physique of for example shawn ray is far superior, more mass on frame relatively and far better conditioning.
This is a game, and the judges don't penalise a gut as you would want them to. Nothing much to discuss really, it just the name of the game.

They might aswell just be weighed and measured if aesthetics don't score highly-forget about the posing altogether.
Again, the judges are not unfair, I agree with the judges scoring over the past decades, yes there were some times when I thought the runner up should have won, but it was always close when my opinion differed.
I am on your side when it comes to the scoring criteria, but that is a whole other story.
So I dislike the criteria, but I think the judges scoring are spot on with the giving criteria.

The Olympia is the forefront of drug abuse for a reason, it's the experimental playground for drug development for the farma industry, where the farma industry goes, Olympia bodybuilding will follow. Succesful drugs will be used in other sports afterwards. Has always been like this.

@MarceloMansaniMunhoz He was bigger and more polished for 1974, he was only 23 yrs old here at Mr. world, the youngest Mr.Olympia in history in 1970 also. He is about 251 here, in 1974 he was 260+ off season and about 250 the day of contest. Arnold kept improving and was unbeatable and way ahead of his time as long as he competed.

He was so dominant that after defeating the sixties BB sergio in the olympia in 1970 and that Sergio and Pearl were so demoralized, knew they had no chance so they avoided Arnold by competeing in another federation in 1970! Well, there's a huge difference between an owner of a clip who chooses to dislike fair comments, based on a selfish thinking process and consequently making hasty decisions to block that person based on unjust grounds, (i was actually trying to post a couple of positive comments regarding Sergio, and only one went through), but unfortunately the contents of those comments didn't sit quite well with JesseDaBody. I was actually trying to praise Sergio, and give him credit where it's due.

Peter/Neil are continously seeking confrontation with people on various uploads through unnecessary insults while attempting to denigrate other people's achievements. I guess Peter & JesseDaBody have more in common than previously imagined, both are quick to block people just because they come up with great comments for a particular bodybuilder which they despise, or can't counter with logical arguments of their own -- so they accuse you of "trolling"!

@PersianOak Yeah, i think so too. As i've stated before in this clip, i wouldn't exclude anyone. They probably experimented with early versions of GH, but not until the 70's. You know, even today, nobody really knows how to take Steroids or other hormones for bodybuilding purposes (to achieve maximum results). It's a guessing game even though androgens in either tab or injection form have been around since the 40's. The compounds are the same, but people react differently.
So you could imagine 40+ yrs ago, when Arnold was into the race to reach the top and trying to beat everybody else! He couldn't open up a 'cooking book of hormones' and look up the best recipe to get the kind of physique needed to win an Olympia!

@PersianOak Sergio was good, but not without flaws. There has never been a bodybuilder with a 100% flawless physique, and it's a very subjective sports. IMO Arnold's physique was better than Sergio's on many levels. I will admit that Arnold had weakpoints, but only within his own structure, and in relation to his other musclegroups. Those so called 'weakpoints' are by no means weak compared to the same musclegroups belonging to other bodybuilders!
I think a major mistake people do is to focus on separate musclegroups on his physique, i mean, you could do that with Sergio and find lots of flaws. You have to step back and view the physique in its entirety -- it's in that regard which Arnold dominates!

Mike Mentzer needed to ingest heavy amounts of steroids because he never had good enough genes to be a real contender, that's why his heart gave out in later life.

Arnold dominated BB world for a decade and couldve easily continued his olympia wins in the eighties as rick wayne mentioned in his article from 1984, when The king was getting in shape for filming Terminator 1. All the time. But not on Olympia stage. I find it quite insulting that people talk about the freaks at the Mr. Olympia all the time, as if all juiced pro bodybuilders look like that. It's not like when bodybuilder decides to juice, he will look like Ronnie Coleman the next day. It's a very slow proces, first he will be bigger than natural bodybuilder, then he will be buff, then he will get the size of the 70s bodybuilders, then of the 80s, then the 90s and so on, there is no shortcut.

The judges think differently, the Olympia isn't about who is the prettiest.
There are still plenty of other contests where the contenders have the physiques of the 70s, it's not rare (altho none of them have the Arnold genetics of course). They exist, they are working hard everyday, stop generalising todays juicers.
BBing is an underground sport, it's just that the Olympia sees the light of day more often in the alternative media, but it's still far removed from the mainstream media

Scorecards don't have "no gut" checkbox for points. Aesthetics is indeed one of the criteria, but it aint over for you if you score low on that department, as we know, size and conditioning is where the most points can be one at the Olympia.
It doesn't mean that symmetry and proportions aren't important, it just that most of the guys at the Olympia are already at a very high level in that department, only thing to really stand out is to have more mass and better conditioning.

@DjiEnn A 'gut' looks just terrible,it ruins aesthetics-it should be completely over if someone has an uneasthetic physique.Its not a meat market,where weight and size plus lack of bodyfat wins.Cutler is a prime example of an unaesthetic,blocky physique-never should that physique win an Olympia.
Very few are at a very high level in symmetry and proportion-Heath is,though he too has obvious failings (calves) For true symmetry and proportion see Sergio,Padilla,Leidelmeyer-not todays freaks.

It just where you but more emphasize on. I for one prefer mass and conditioning, so if a competitor has a gut then it aint a huge minus for me if he scores very high on mass and conditioning.
Arnold is one of my fav, but I think the physique of for example shawn ray is far superior, more mass on frame relatively and far better conditioning.
This is a game, and the judges don't penalise a gut as you would want them to. Nothing much to discuss really, it just the name of the game.

I am on your side when it comes to the scoring criteria, but that is a whole other story.
So I dislike the criteria, but I think the judges scoring are spot on with the giving criteria.

The Olympia is the forefront of drug abuse for a reason, it's the experimental playground for drug development for the farma industry, where the farma industry goes, Olympia bodybuilding will follow. Succesful drugs will be used in other sports afterwards. Has always been like this.

He is about 251 here, in 1974 he was 260+ off season and about 250 the day of contest. Arnold kept improving and was unbeatable and way ahead of his time as long as he competed.

Amazing that Arnold was only 23 yrs old in this contest! a record age for olympia win still holds today! He was so dominant that after defeating the sixties BB sergio in the olympia in 1970 and that Sergio and Pearl were so demoralized, knew they had no chance so they avoided Arnold by competeing in another federation in 1970! I guess the rest is history as Arnold dominated the decade by beating every olympia competetor!Arnold declared that no one even had a chance to come close! Amazing! :)

@PersianOak Yeah, i think so too. As i've stated before in this clip, i wouldn't exclude anyone. They probably experimented with early versions of GH, but not until the 70's. You know, even today, nobody really knows how to take Steroids or other hormones for bodybuilding purposes (to achieve maximum results). It's a guessing game even though androgens in either tab or injection form have been around since the 40's. The compounds are the same, but people react differently.

@PersianOak Sergio was good, but not without flaws. There has never been a bodybuilder with a 100% flawless physique, and it's a very subjective sports. IMO Arnold's physique was better than Sergio's on many levels. I will admit that Arnold had weakpoints, but only within his own structure, and in relation to his other musclegroups. Those so called 'weakpoints' are by no means weak compared to the same musclegroups belonging to other bodybuilders!

I think a major mistake people do is to focus on separate musclegroups on his physique, i mean, you could do that with Sergio and find lots of flaws. You have to step back and view the physique in its entirety -- it's in that regard which Arnold dominates!

Arnold defeated every olympia grade BB for a decade including, Sergio, Park, Zane, Columbo, Nubert, Ferrigno, Coe, Walker, Bannout, Dickerson, Robinson, Mentzer... the list goes on and on...

Why would Arnold admit that Sergio looked better than him at that contest? Also, Arnold would get butt-slapped by today's contestants--that's another fact. Compare Phil Heath to Arnold. @PersianOak As far as your claim as Arnold being the most accomplished athelete of all time--that is highly subjective. Some would even argue that BB isn't a sport at all. Surely they are other atheletes than are more complete: Micheal Jordan, Jim Thorpe, Muhammad Ali, etc;

Arnold dominated BB world for a decade and couldve easily continued his olympia wins in the eighties as rick wayne mentioned in his article from 1984, when The king was getting in shape for filming Terminator 1. Rick also mentioned that if Arnold did compete in 84 as was rumored, he would easily regained his crown and beat Bannout and Haney!... :)

then Arnold came back in 80 and beat Zane as the previous years Mr.Olympia plus new hopefulls like Mentzer who did not even place in top 3!
The fact that Arnold beat every top bodybuilder from that decade at will, anytime he competed proves he dominated the Decade! (thats the way its calculated in the sport of BB! :)

The King? Oh brother. Arnold is dethroned by Ronnie Coleman and Lee Haney in Olympia wins. Most of today's champion bodybuilders have surpassed the development of this overrated, narcissistic muscleman. Sergio beat him in 72 as even Arnold admitted. Arnold also did not "Clean up" for the decade. He didn't compete in 76 thru 79 (and should of lost in 80).

Just because today's BBs have more mass doesn't mean they've surpassed Arnold, it just means they take more drugs. If you don't like Arnold, fine, but to say he is overrated means your opinion doesn't count. Saying Arnold is overrated is like saying dwarfs are tall.
Most overrated BB in the world is easily Mike Mentzer.

Phil outweighs Arnold and has bigger thighs and arms and is cut beyond what Arnold could ever fathom. Poor Arnold. Would even garnish a top ten today. He would be laughable and set aside. Arnold: The most overrated bodybuilder that ever lived. Great for his time (Sergio excepted and Mike Mentzer in 80). Too many flaws that included skinny thighs, sloped shoulders which his chest overpowered his delts. Triceps not matching his peaked biceps and barbie-doll forearms. So out of proportion, that it's not even funny. As far as his movies goes: He has the worst "Razzie" awards nominations (the first 25 years) with 8 and winning 1, in 2004. Lol!
