My first was a teal blue Mk2 NOK306F 1300cc,engine was too small really but it got me thru my driving test and i loved that motor..loved the video btw :)
Sorry for being a bit daft, but the cars in the first part of the video were Lotus Cortina? I thought that there was a difference between the Lotus' and the Fords.but I dont know what the diff is. I like both, but I always associate the Lotus Cortina with racing. Nice video. I like the timeline over it;s production life.
i love the mk2 i had 20 of them when i was younger, best one was 1600gt, i did a 0 to 60 test in 8 sec which was very good for a car that age, considering some modern cars with bigger engines are slower
Tuve 2 modelos: Tipo SW y tipo sedan.
Nice tribute, I had 4 mk 2 Cortina's 1300Deluxe, 1600GT, 1600E, and The ultimate, a Lotus Twin Cam. Happy times, the 1600E was best, wish I still had one now!!
Nice compilation Fordman. Could u answer this. Was there ever factory colors on MK2 with red car and yellow or gold stripes ? Maybe the Lotus type. Or was they all white and green ?
Reason i ask is I have seen more than 1 with those colors. (Pardon my English, since i'm Norwegian ) :)
Fantastic Cars. During 1978-1985 I had several 1600e's, a Lotus Twin Cam a 1500GT and two pucker Savage Cortina's which at the time was the dogs dangly bits.Great memories and amazing to see the Harris Family still building some of the UK's quickest Fords - 11 sec MK1 Escorts!
It seems strange that there seems to be many more Mk1 and Mk2 Cortinas surviving than later ones, with the Mk4 being by far the rarest.

The Cortina name should have been kept for it's Mazda 626 badge engineered replacement for Australia.Telstar just does not sound the same
