@mastacheif123 it only registers when the camera can see the full symbol, so drawing on the inside of the hand for a sword is moot. you can however draw something on the hilt to make a beamsword of sorts.

The trick behind AR is to do it in REAL TIME. Much harder. And yeah, this is hella cool. Netbook + HD webcam + display goggles + ARtoolkit = pretty much anything you can think of,

I actually don't have it myself, so I'm afraid I can't really help. I'd suggest looking for some tutorials.

ARToolKit is just an application to make files of the markers for the computer to track.

There's a lot more to it then that... what you need to look into is FLARtoolkit. it's an ActionScript library that makes this possible.
