Great song, if you're into Australian bands such as Jebediah and The Living End, you should check out The Statics. See the latest 'Truck It' video and check out the newest tracks coming out.
I can't help but tear up to this song. It's so well done. This is in the top 10 Australian song performances of all time for my mind. I could listen to this 10 times a day.
""River of Tears", preformed byt he Drones, tells the story of David Gundy, a 32-year-old Aboriginal man who died after being shot by police when he was woken from his sleep during an unlawful raid on his home in Marrickville on April 27, 1989. The police were looking for another man. The police had no legal right to be in his home. A coronial inquest found that Gundy had died accidentally... The absolute BEST live performance anyone could ever pay to see, regardless of cost, these guys are the custodians of cultural integrity. Thank god for the smart, arty people!!!
i was part of the camera crew that filmed the show at the State...this was ^#^ing unbelievable...one of the most intense live performances i've ever witnessed

Not much going on musically. Nothing new here since the 60s. Just old music rehashed. Most people like music because it reinforces their already established world view. The more popular the world view the more popular the music. This is vamp with crescendo. Australia has absolutely nothing to do with it. But if you like it fine.
Kev Carmody put it best when he said "This song peeled the paint off the walls when they played it at the State Theatre". Fucking Unreal. They rocked the corner hotel last week and there gonna light it up at 'groovin' the moo'
@chirnover I can think of a hell of a lot myself: The Triffids; Hoodoo Gurus; Crime and the City Solution; The Go-Betweens.. I mean seriously man, are you taking the piss with a comment like that?!?!
@theghostofchristmasp haha nah mate, they're all great aussie bands but still don't match the creativity and originality of the Drones. Again, just my opinion.
It's 7am and my gf is still asleep! I feel naughty!! The Drones kick musical arse :D

Can someone tell me why this song is so critically awesome?
Not to say I don't like it, I love it, but I love lots of other music considered crap by most "Music Critics".
