  • This is a song wirtten By Gordon Lightfood.

  • Comment removed

  • This is Sarah McLachlan singing. I clicked on Nana Mouskouri as the artist & I don't believe Nana ever recorded it. One of my favorites...I've played it over & over.

  • Absolutley Perfect!!! Thank you so much for putting it up!

  • Picts are weird yet awesome freaks of nature lol

  • Stolen from Gordon Lightfoot. He did it way better.

  • @csneddon00 The song wasn't stolen, she covered it. Artists do that all the time. Almost always with the permission of the original artist. Pull your head out your ass before making comments like that.

  • @sekkyo Hey @@shole, read between the lines. I didn't mean literally stolen. What I am saying is Sarah couldn't come up with her own original music so she covers Gordies. Both of you are lame.

  • @csneddon00 So every artist that ever covered a song of another artist is lame, unoriginal and inartistic. What about Johnny Cash's cover of "Hurt"? NIN applauded him for his wonderful rendition. Does that still make him lame? I don't think so. Again, stop thinking with such tunnel vision.

  • @sekkyo Nothing you've said changed anything.

  • One of my all time favorite songs.

  • I come back every once in awhile to watch this video. This is how the movie should have been. Thanks

  • *Romance. Pardon My spelling.

  • Dude. There was no ramance between Guinevere and lancelot in that movie. She was nice to him and a little flirtatious at first. Perhaps the movie: First Knight would be a better example.

  • mr fantastic a knight in armour

  • I did a sign language performance with some other people like, 6 years ago. We used white gloves and we did it in the darkness under a black light so it was like floating hands doing sign language :) I still remember the lyrics, but sadly not the hand motions :(

  • She got it right. Bloody Romans were the worst of the worst.

  • I think its hilarious in the scene where Guinevere argues about the romans taking what is not theirs and the natural state of any man to want to live free! Pity the british had one of the worlds largest empires. Invaded India, occupied Ireland and countless other countries.

  • best part: If i could know within my heart that you were lonely too. i would be happy just to hold the hands i love on this winter's night with you.

  • The smoke is rising in the shadows overhead my glass is almost empty

I read again between the lines upon the page the words of love you sent me

If I could know within my heart that you were lonely too

I would be happy just to hold the hands I love upon this winter night with you

  • The fire is dying now, my lamp is growing dim the shades of night are lifting

The morning light steals across my windowpane where webs of snow are drifting

If I could only have you near to breathe a sigh or two

I would be happy just to hold the hands I love and to be once again with with you

To be once again with with you

  • The lamp is burning low upon my table top the snow is softly falling

The air is still within the silence of my room I hear your voice softly calling

If I could only have you near to breathe a sigh or two

I would be happy just to hold the hands I love on this winter night with you

  • *Shniff*, this song always made me cry when I was a bit littler... it alway reminded me that my big bro was in jobcore at the time, and I always wanted to see him again, 'cause I missed him so much... now, I wish he would just leave, darn it -_-"...

  • This is a wonderfully touching song, which matches the video.

  • This is magical: a combo of Gordon Lightfoot and Enya-esque reverb

  • The trail is difficult but the being tired of it is necessary and sometimes you have to finally die in the face of the old so that the new can be born...like the spirit of the wolf beating in your chest...so be it compared to the spirit of a tried and true warrior...Nightingales sing beautifully and dance upon graves to resurrect hearts and souls back to brand new life and loving! Then you can bring her home!

  • Just a life comment: Lancelot/ArthurGuinevere all needed the lovetriangle to do what they did. Wherever You Go, There You Are~ Buckaroo Banzai

  • I thoroughly enjoy the introduction to this song.

The bass, the voices of her voice is captivating. and the fading of her voice in and out makes the song seem more personal. The guitar adds a good tone to the song.

Not to mention that the words she uses makes this song even more personal.

When I listen to this song. I think about my girlfriend, and everything around me disappears.

    This song is serene.

  • she is great like always;)and the video...uf...it takes my breath away:)

  • you said it all

  • i cn listen to dis a million times

  • THANK YOU

  • I first heard this song while watching Due South, a GREAT show...

I love the show and this song. Beautiful.

  • The double exposure ruins the song..

  • Very good video, Sarah McLachlan just perfect as always :)

  • "If you represent Heaven, take me there." Thats my favorite line in the whole movie. Great video. I listen to it every time I log on. When I watch the movie "King Arthur", I want to hear this song. Thank you.

  • @angelamI2day You too huh? XD

  • I like Sarah's voice, & love this song, but sadly not together!. I do not mean to offend anyone by my opinion. It's just my point of view & no disrepect to Sarah.

I first heard this song over 30 years ago recorded by Nana Mouskouri & have searched everywhere for it but to no avail. Wish I could hear Nana sing it again.

  • @rosiegold5 I prefer Nana's version too Rosiegold5, I have the mp3 in case you want it, just write me =)

This version is also beautiful by the way.

  • It"s hard to believe anyone wounld't love this song.

It inspires me to greatness, or at least try my hardest...

  • cool

  • From a died in the wool Gordon Lightfoot fan. This is an amazingly beautiful cover.

  • I'm in ove with this song and voice amazing

  • This song is simply so beautifull... goes straight to the heart...

  • sorry. but nobody does this better than gord. "tis his song

  • Softly reminds of Imogen Heap

  • sarah mclachlan.. :))

  • great mix.

  • lol Lancelot was such a creeper in this movie... but if you read all the King Arthur legends, there's usually an illicit romance between Lancelot and Guenevere.

  • yess amazing songggg.i have this on my cd!!

  • amazing song. were using this for our color guard song. go sms!

  • This is such an amazing song, I sang along as I drove home along the river I live by. And cried. Gordon Lightfoot, another genius we Canadians are so proud of, wrote this in my younger days. I love it. thank you.

  • supersong, i am listening with tears in my eyes , love you mama

    (from holland)

  • thank you. love this, been on both ends of this tale.....easier to think of the other as a bad person, wish it was so easy.

  • This video makes me love the movie even more than I did before. This is excellent!

  • I hope that this video is not removed, as so many others have been. I enjoy it very much and visit it often.

  • The romance was between Arthur and Guinevere not Lancelot and Guinevere. Watch the movie and you will see.............

  • the romance was between Lancelot and Guinevere she suppose to be maried with Arthur,

  • whats the song

  • the answer is in the title

  • I Love That Song :)

  • Eu amei !

Eu queria que fosse o Lancelot que ficasse com ela e não Arthur.

  • Ioan is so hunky as Lancelot.

    Beautiful little video. Thanks.

  • This is one of my favorite Gordon Lightfoot songs & it fits this movie SO well. It's really lovely! Thanks for posting it! Excuse me while I go cry!

  • this movie makes me sad

  • alot of people think that this is a sad song and it erally isnt this song is about how this gurl loves a guy so much that if she could hold the hand of the guy she loves she wouldnt need anything else in the world to make her happy! which is the most incredible feeling ever! so it is actually a happy song

  • awsome song!!!

  • i love that song!!!!

  • Life is complex. There are always many thngs in every situation that we do not know....judge carefully....

  • Sahar takes Gordon Lightfoot's song and lifts it to a place where it has never been before.I bet even Gordon would agree. Two great Canadians.

  • :)))

  • Bravo Sarah!!

  • Way to go Gordon!!!

  • ... well put, Tatianna... I agree. You may try to avoid it, you may wish it will never happen... but sometimes fate will find you, whether you like it or not... and it is the strong of spirit and soul who stand up to face it... especially so when the odds are against you and the outcome looks bleak. (thanks to all who gave me those thumbs up a page or so back ;) )

  • The story of Arthur wasn't mean to teach us to question whether it was moral or not. It was not to teach us whether cheating on your best friend would be worth it or not. The moral of this story is to stand up in the face of adversity no matter what it may be and face it with both courage and dignity because when all the cards are upon the table sometimes its those you think have betrayed you who are the first to stand ready to help you out of the pit you have crawled into.

  • You are so right about those you think have betrayed you sometimes are the ones to help you out of the pit. Why do you think it takes being the pit to see that? :-)

  • Well said, Tatianna. I couldn't agree more :]

  • @TatiannaAnnavianna , I love the way you think, thx. ;)

  • @TatiannaAnnavianna Maybe for the movie yes.

  • @TatiannaAnnavianna

yeah ... no. *shrugs* that's the story interpreted through a modern lens, and it's lovely and all that, but the original arthurian cycle was more about being undone by one's own fatal flaws (i.e., sowing the seed of your own eventual destruction by impregnating your sister). the good he did afterwards could never compensate for that -- even though he didn't know he was committing so heinous a crime.

  • I always blamed Arthur for everything that happened, i know he had to be furius that they had sex, but he was his best friend and personally i would have divorced Guenevere and married another woman. I mean Arthur knew of Lancelot's Loyalty and he should of known that only True Love would have made Lancelot break his vowels.... uhh so tragic

  • amazing

  • Lancelot looks a lot like John Holmes.

  • I can't believe that the makers of this movie are trying to pass it off as 'historically accurate' Gwenhwyver(Guinevere) never went to war.

    Amazing video though.

  • The story of King Arthur, Merlin and Guinevere isnt actually historical accurate in it self :P

  • its not..can you tell me more about this.

  • Well the whole story is a myth in itself. And in the movie they replaced the mythical story a few houndred years forward to make it "happen2 the same time of the catholic church era

  • umm no its up a few hundred years

  • I love this song, my ballet class did a dance to it.

    It's so beautiful.

  • I never knew that Sarah McLachlan had covered this song; I hope Gordon Lightfoot (who wrote it) liked this interpretation.

  • ... aye, they certainly did and were quite often a more powerful foe then their male counterparts, as the women fought in groups. As much as this movie does have its 'Hollywood'ish' parts, its such an interesting portrayal of this story...perhaps the closest to what actually took place..., but who knows...only history will ever know the real truth.

  • Arthur's queen was probably Celtic, and she maybe had an affair with Lancelot, but I don't think she went into battle, even

    though Celtic women often did.

  • Awesome... peaceful & lovely....

Did Lancelot really die in the end in the movie...?

  • Lekristajojo: yes, Lancelot did die at the end of them movie.... very, very, very sad ~sniffles~ ...next to Tristan ( the Danish actor) Lance was my fave.

  • This song is so beautiful, and the video accompaniment is perfect. I've seen the movie often, but not thought too much about the relationship between Lance. and Guin....verra nice.

  • this song sounds very peaceful =D but sad at the same time..

  • Well that pierced my heart.

    Lovely.

  • this is such a beautiful song. sarah mclachlan is very talented

  • when my grandpa (RIP) was first diagnosed with cancer, my mom and her family would cry whenever they heard this song. She started to cry when it was on the radio the other day!

  • um, my last comment was to someone who was saying Jewel sings backup vocals on this song. I've seen it titled that way on some free music sites before..but to me it sounds like just sarah and her own backup vocals. Love the song.

I would love to see Sarah and Jewel do some duets though, my 2 fav female singers... they have sung together before but it's been a long time, too long!

  • Indeed Jewel has nothing to do with this song, tho I have seen it labeled as such before.

What a duet they would make though.

  • Back in the late 90's, Jewel and Sarah McLachlan toured together on the Lilith Fair tour which I was lucky to see. On a 2 disc Lilith Fair CD, Jewel, Sarah McLachlan and the Indigo Girls sing a song together. If you haven't listened to it, check it out :)

  • I do love this song - it is so beautifully sung - so sad, so romantic and there is such longing.

  • i like tony rice's version better

  • is this king arthur?

  • i love thus song

  • Also, to those who cannot get past the "Gordon Lightfoot is better" need to realize, just as someone else pointed out, that they are two different songs...each worthy of respect. One is not better than the next as they are different songs. And....the song was not made for the movie. It was made many years before Excalibur. But I guess that's what you get with a public school edjumacashun.

  • I'm not sure if anyone knows this, but the voice in the background is Jewel's. She collaborated for this version.

  • where did you get that from? Jewel sings backup on this?? I dont think so...

  • Epic

  • wonderful song

  • Beautifully done! I love this song! And your timing and execution, and editing are amazing. GREAT, GREAT, GREAT JOB!!!

  • I would thank you, but sadly I did not make this video. *Sigh* The very talented DreamVision did and I was given permission to post it on YouTube. A very talented person and editor though!

I love how it stays true to the subtleness of the attraction between the characters in the movie; I agree that it's absolutely beautiful!

  • I love this song to pieces too, and the picturization is just brilliant

  • What an absolutely gorgeous song! It's been stuck in my head for days. Truly one of the most beautiful songs that I've ever heard.

  • I absolutely LOVE this version of the song! ^_^

  • <3 i love thiss songg.

  • Kiera holds her lips really wierd.

  • I love this sweet song <3

  • I love this song. :) I liked the video too, even though I've never seen this movie...I might have to, though, if so many people like it. :P

  • i did an expressive with this once...

  • this is a great song, I saw a recital with a lyrical dance to it. It ws such a fantastic match ♥

  • The original is definetly better

  • My goodness, this version is completly amazing the best i've ever seen WOW!!!

  • OMG What an absolutely stunning version

  • OK I have a problem that at the end, the credits do not give credit to Gord for writing this song.

  • You'll notice that many videos posted on YouTube do not. However, as I did not make the video, I cannot comment on the creator's reasoning. All I can state is that it is customary for the creator to give credit (where it is due) for the clips and the band performing. Anything beyond that is usually the discretion of the creator (in this case DreamVision).

  • This is an absolutley beautiful version of this song. If I was Gord I would be sooooo pleased.

  • I wish people would stop complaining that Gordon Lightfoot's version was better. Instead of thinking of them as the same song, think of them as two completely different songs. Do so and you find that Sarah McLachlan's version is also a beautiful and wonderful song. Too many people don't have enough depth of thought to understand the different types of beautiful among music. BOTH VERSIONS ARE GOOD!

  • Well said.

  • NOT A BAD GORDON LIGHTFOOT VERSION!!!

  • Nice

  • This song just touches my heart! Corny and gay I know, well ... so am I. Seriously though, this song is just beautiful.

  • I figured he'd die in the end :(

  • How did you know it was s*it if you didnt watch it?

  • Simply Beautiful....

  • Best ever!!!!! movie is ok, but this type of preview makes it excellent

  • sarah is an amazing singer. She brings warmth and beauty and emotion to all the lyrics she sings. She has an adept way to putting emotion and mood into a song, as though you feel the words wash over you with each and every word. She is one of the top singers in the old ballard, love song style.

    love her.

  • yeah she is prety awesome and so is this vid, it was put together nicely and it was beautiful

  • this is a good song

  • It just made me cry

  • what movie is this

  • king arthur with clive owen,,great movie the best version of arthur..

  • This is a great movie, probably the best historical version, from what we know of it. The best fantasy version would be Excalibur, though.

  • Very pretty...

  • I love the original Gordon Lightfoot version, and have listened to it for many years. However, this version by Sarah is extremely good, and pays tribute to Lightfoot quite well.

  • Sarah's version of the song is better. But the song has an entirely different atmosphere than the original version, hard to compare. Different moods, a different song completely just still paying tribute to Lightfoot.

  • It wouldn't even play for me.

  • TampaRed: How can it be an insult?

He's collecting royalties. Needless to say you haven't heard the disco version of 'If You Could Read My Mind'. LOL!!

  • this video is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO dang cool! Can listen 24/7 and forever LOVELY! :-o impressed

  • What a terrible version. An insult to the Great Canadian Balladeer.

  • I have to agree that Gord's version compared to this is like a sirloin steak compared to a mcdonalds burger patty, but it had to be changed to fit the movie.

  • I suppose that may be the case, to suit atmosphere of the film, but a different song, a new one, would have been better. I fear many may not realize that this is a cover, and a poor one at that, of an amazing song.

  • Ah the work of professionals! It shows and gives all us lesser beings something to aspire to here on you tube. So many hobbies to persue. Photography, multitrack recording,

lighting and special effects yes a project fo many winters nights. Thanks for the posting it's beautiful.

  • lovely video, you did an amazing job!

  • Actually, I didn't create the video - I posted it with DreamVision's permission. It is amazing quality though!

  • Ah, well DreamVision did an excellent job though. Thank you for sharing!
