they dont use artificial distortion. they use the natural distortion created by overdiving the tubes in the amp or something like that.

Its true, AC/DC just cranked up the volume. That's how they got the natural distortion. I don't think the Marshall Plexi amps, which is the kind of amp the band uses, has a distortion knob. It's all created by volume.

They do have a bit of a different sound, also there are 2 kind of pick ups. But all in all, the sound you get really depends on what amp or distortion pedal you use.

You can make any guitar sound simiular to AC/DC or any other band with the right equipment.

There are 2 kind of pick ups. Humbucker and Single Coils. AC/DC use humbuckers, they have more power and are therefore better for rock, while Single Coils are more clear. But you can both use for any kind of music. It depends how you set up your amp.

Just type in humbucker or singlecoil into Google picture search and you will see what they look like.
