What people never realized unless they read, General Veers' AT-AT was more heavily armored for the assault on Hoth. Also he was crippled by Hobbie's snowspeeder when he didn't get into the troop area. A beam fell on his legs and were amputated. He spent the rest of his years in a hover chair. Also Veers was the one that brought the AT-AT project back to life. That project was started during the Clone Wars and not during the Galactic campaign.
