@smallshinybeetle In holes. They belong to a group of mammals called Mustelids. Others are gerbils stoats weasels martens otters sable etc. Stoats and weasels are pretty feisty so the mink is a kind of `uber` stoat and can wipe out other species very quickly. They will attack virtually anything. They are not `native` as the video explains, so do not fit into the food chain, which is not their fault. They are pretty amazing animals but as usual the human factor has contrived to mess things up.
Minks are adorable. A wild mountain mink came bounding up to me today between rocks and stared right at me for about 30 seconds. I wanted to adopt it so badly.
Yea! I saw a video of one eating a hawk I thought that was fascinating I watch and all I could thing was the big ugly bastard rodent in the sky had met its match!!!
Minks, ferrets, wolverines, badgers and ratels are like nature's serial killers. They're insane in a cute and cuddly way. I know a mink farm near by, call me crazy but I'd love to have one as a pet. It would give the cat a real fight.
@ammoMtaFoY to me there is nothing more beautiful than wearing (correctly) a warm, black mink coat. Mink are a nuisance, and their furs have been used for years. they are not endangered, and slaughtering them is much like slaughtering cows or pigs. Their purpose is to be worn. i don't want to argue with you- this is only my opinion- but i think furs are beautiful and classic.
I understand that they are dangerous pests in places where they are not indigenous, but wasn't it the fur farms that introduced them to such places? Such a noble industry.
Cows and Pigs are food animals. I would not support killing cows and pigs if it was ONLY for their skin. Killing should be for survival, not for fashion, and fur farms are very cruel in their treatment of the animals and slaughter them ether with electrocution or by beating them.
The mink could have indeed taken on and killed that swan. In fact, I found it surprising that the swan got away unharmed, as the narrator said, because most mustelids(mink, stoats, weasels, etc) will NOT let go or give up prey once they've latched on like that, even if the prey is many times its size. Mustelids are, pound for pound, the most vicious, deadliest land predators in the world.
are you that stupid it was like 10 secs of what happened and it was on the back of its neck if u didint have hands could u get it off ur neck..noooooo and it didint seem like the othr swans had time to react due to the fact the video was like 5 secs
Stupid humans not humans. There is a big difference between stupid humans and humans, even though the difference is sometimes not obvious like i your case :P
bastard mink, greedy aint he? they are a real nuisance around britain, as is most of the american wildlife that has turned up on our shores, grey squirrels for instance, mink also compete with otters for food, which means we have less, despite not hunting them.
Yeah, I understand completely people having to hunt these sorts of animals in Europe. It just makes me so mad when people say this is why they don't feel guilty about fur coats... Ur dur, fur industry is responsible for the problem in the first place. These animals are fine in their native American habitats. :(
I hope you guys can save the Otters, Red Squirrels and any other species they are effecting.
it wasnt the farmers it was the animal rights hippys fucking things up

I didn't know mink coats ever stopped being fashionable..... fur is timeless.
pinkvespa95 1 year ago
@pinkvespa95 For people with no conscience or taste, maybe. Having a fluffy carcass draped over your shoulders is hardly fashionable, much less sane.

Now they have escaped and spread chaos on the wildlife. So hahaha stupid humans it's all your fault! :P

Fish and Wildlife have been butchered at a local nature reserve. This video highlights just what a fearless mink will do. KILL
The swan had a lucky escape, the hawk in another video did not.
