BEST CAR EVER. it has even more options that lots of new french cars (it is normal, they suck). drive is smooth, comfortable, no noise from outside thanks to double glass. and is's so big :) and even the V6 is quite good, but drinks a lot 15 l/100km, so imagine the v12 :)

Well, with either the 500SEL, or later S500 you get a lot more standard features, not to mention the long wheelbase. And with 300+ HP it has adequate power whereas the S320 is working hard to keep the 4700+/-lb car at speed so Gas mileage becomes so close by comparison, and ends being determined on how you drive. S500s more often have power rear seats/headrests, and one that I was recently in had the suede headliner. And yes I'm planning on buying one soon.

Buddy, this is not just me. Remember JC's review of the CL class (related to the S class I mention)? He mocks Mercedes quality as the worst in the business- his seat is broken and the headlight (not the bulb) is broken, among many other things. And remember his review of the CLS? His main criticism is the pointed star on the front. Know how he talks of his SLK and SL, and how they are awful because they are in the shop constantly?? If you are going to do this on a TG movie, know your stuff.

Quite true...Merc admit themselves that there was a period (during the Chrysler tie-up) when their cars weren't that up to standard. However, you must realise that, for instance, the Top Gear review of the CLS was made around 4 years ago. Things have changed a-lot since then, and Merc are now back on track (take the C-Class - they did 15 million miles of testing (excl. laboratory testing), and with the E-Class they did 20 mil if I'm not mistaken...probably the most tested cars in the world)

I would agree that their quality has improved, but I wouldn't agree that the cars are the most tested. They can say anything in their ads. I was actually replying to the comment you posted last month, so it's not that long time ago... anyway, as to the testing and braking claims in tha ads, one can start doubting everything in every ad, especially the testing claim, since you can't have actual proof of how many miles they did, so you have to rely on what they say...but I still think they did a-lot. For the braking...where did you see that "in reality the car was mediocre in braking tests"? It seems at least on par with other cars

Well if it is me going to buy & mod a car.. i wouldn't go anywhere near anything from germany because the very standard parts are already very expensive much less performance ones, and because mercedes decided to stop making over-engineered cars, but if you insisted to go for a german one take a look at a 3series(2002-2004 only)or 5series(2001-2002 only)BMWs, if you want full-size car.. what's wrong with a jag XJR(X350)? at least it doesn't waighs 354%^&$# tons like the S class.

Here we go again...

German CARS are MUCH better then English cars. You can mod this car, this Mercedes with other lights in front and rear, other rims, chrome grill, Carlsson bodykit. Then you have a beautiful S class. The parts are easily to find here in Germany. You don't need a new engine, the engine itself is already very good. If you buy one take the 350 TURBODIESEL or 420 SEL benzin. a 300 is too slow and a 500 is too much money. And again, English cars SUCK especially JAGUAR.

Hi iehduery.. yes you're right germany makes better cars than UK in general but there is always exceptions, and don't be so sure about jaguar lately, it is so different from the past, compare a jag XJS with an XK mark I and you'll find huge difference.

i'm more interested in mechanical and ride-emproving mods not bodykits and spinners, and merc parts are one of the easiest to find here too but expensive.

personally i prefer jap cars over everything else when it comes to tuning projects

I own a e39 from 1999 and it's one of the best cars I have ever had! I have modded it completely for less then 3000 euros and everyone is looking at this beauty. I also own a 3 series e21 from 1979. Best car ever! A driving experience that you can never live with a ENGLISH car, cause english cars SUCK bigtime. There are NO parts to find for english cars. And it is good that the S class weighs a lot it is safer

nothing wrong with the 3series before 2002 or 5series before 2001 i said so because it is the most reliable.. take the 2001 5series for example.. it was the most reliable car ever that year in consumer reports rankings, dude 3000 euros are barely enough for a set of performance brakes, and no over-weight cars isn't neccessarly saver.. audi A8 is safe and it is made from aluminium.
