It is up tempo, and weighs in about 11 seconds longer than the original. I thought it was even better than the original, and that the time and effort to get it right is apparent. Trevor Horn is not going to just show up and vomit something up. He got Geoff Downes in there and the original backup singers and everything. I bet the time difference can be chalked up to live versus studio, the former in which you are relaxed and have time, the latter being fueled by adrenaline. Ugh? I say Yes!
ugh...it sounds to (rocked up) to me...i know some in in the last 10 or 15 years remade this song and you can almost hear that in the background...its also up tempo from the orginal version..i just dont understand if your going to get up on stage celebrate something that changed the world of music...why not put more time and effort to it sounding right?
They rehearsed this one solid to get the sound just right. This normally does not happen in a live performance. Tight performance the result of lots of work. Trevor and the rest went to a lot of trouble to get this piece right. Amazingly good is an understatement.
That's like saying, 'that guitar is so in tune'. Of course the drums are gonna be tight, the whole thing would be a bloody shambles otherwise, you bleedin' idiot.

Sorry but horn is a money grabbing scumbag. it does not take £ 400.000 to produce an album back in 1984. [welcome to the pleasure dome] does anybody realise how much money that was back in 84? i'm glad holly johnson won a court battle to show what he really is behind the smiles. well he got his comeuppance in the end...
guitartech18 - interesting, this version has a different instrument balance than the other ones on Youtube - but it's the same video! The bass guitar is louder and there are a few notes you can't even hear on the others (at 1:50 for example). Did you remix it?
The Buggles had another song that was really good that they had done at that show, it used to be on youtube, however, i cannot locate it anymore! LMK Folks!
I love this song!
But I feel that the drums were a bit too loud...

Shorter, longer. Yeah, I screwed up. Whatever.

I meant 11 seconds SHORTER than the original studio recording. The studio recording is definitely 11 seconds shorter, which is perceptible for sure.
