  • GREAT SONG

  • These are the best years of our lives....with a capricorn dancer

  • A good antidepressant it reminds me of when I was a kid and when things in Australia where looking good.

  • When I feel a bit down I watch this clip and suddenly I am 16 again and at a time of my life I loved and miss so much......Great song for a great time

  • I saw richard clapton tonight in cairns, it was so good this song came on and everyone went off was so good.

  • Yes the music industry suffocated many an artist.

  • Saw him live tonight... still great

  • I love the bridge at 2:10, it captures the laid back atmosphere perfectly!

  • Wonder what ever happened to those crazy young kids at the end of this blast from the past ?

  • the chick at 1:12 sure could use a bra.

  • A friend of mine knew a guy who's brother owned a horse that knew the horse @ 1:44

  • 1976, my first year out of High School in Sydney, the video clip and music conjors up so many memories of lazy Summer days, the beach, warm breezes, young love

  • We have been blessed with some of the best singer/songwriters in music history, yet only a small percentage of the world has been fortunate enough to have been exposed to it.

  • richard clapton solidarity tour was such a blast.ripped and rocking .

  • Oh memories of the 70's and northern nsw. i had all his albums; was so in love with this guy and his poetry :)

  • What a wonderful voice, he was so under rated, but we Aussies love him

  • This song has such an international sound I am amazed it is relatively unknown

outside of Australia, anyhow I have the impression Richard Clapton could have been marketed a lot better.

Walk on water is a great song .. check it out

  • @SuperQuater there was a some sort of clause in his contract with Festival that limited his chances of making it overseas. Some of the greedy business geeks that ran the music industry back in the 60's are quite responsible for many Aussie 70's acts not making it overseas. Sad, but true.

  • @SuperQuater Neil Diamond has a song, Walk on Water, is this what your referring to?

  • This song is great I can't believe it wasn't number 1?..it has such an international sound. I think Richard wasn't marketed well.

Check out that song "walk on water" another gem

  • Great melody and lyrics. I would like to hear more if this on the radio today.

  • Hy Richie!

  • You can always pick Richard Clapton - he's one of those overused words - Icon. This song brings back wonderful memories - ah, the good old days!

  • You can always pick Richard Clapton - he's one of those overused words - Icon.

  • Gotta love the Sunshine Coast in Sunny Queensland... The best place in the world.

  • Top Song!!

  • Ossie skegs surfin & riding horses on the Queensland coast... A coupla billies and a few birds, where else in the world would you rather be?

  • @wha65 Thanks, I'll look into ti!

  • clapton is a fucking legend!

  • Takes me back to the days of hanging at a mates place on a hot summer arvo, listening to this song on 2SM, trying to bomb the girls from up the street in the pool and trying to pull thier bikini tops off...

having lots of fun and ending up playing a game of sticky finger with one of the girls behind the garden and copping a nice blowie......

    arrrgh the good old days.

  • @Gee40areretarded HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA Funny....

  • @mumbojumbo50 best thing is my friend....still cant remember her name.!

  • Great song!

What about the bowlegged sheila in the clip!?

Been riding a horse too long?!

  • bowlegged from riding a horse you reckon...

maybe one of the blokes in the film has been riding her more than she has been riding.

  • FEEL OF BEACH AUSSIE STYLE love it

  • I can empathise. Two hip replacements, an ulcer in me gut and early retirement, we have our memories cobber.

  • i had a huge cock when this song was around - sadly it has shrunk to an amoebic size of a knat

  • Great clip....great song....loved it when it was first released still do.

  • One of the best songs by an Australian in music history.

  • A beautiful, custom-penned song by Richard Clapton, recorded & performed especially for the movie soundtrack. One of the very best tracks on the soundtrack, too - especially when the vinyl LP is played at, say, a minus-2.5 setting on one's pitch-control on the turntable. With a slightly S-L-O-W-E-R rhythm & beat, this song takes on a markedly-more COOL-OUT feel & ambience to it. Makes you feel at one with the beach & the ocean, real laid-back. Stand-out track + visuals. Superb posting !!

  • I played the slide guitar on this ...

  • And a lovely job you did too, mate

One of the timeless ones in Aus music history

  • carrot up ass at 0:07

  • rofl!!!!!! .never noticed that before..

  • i love this song

it alwys gave a lift when i was down

    bless u richard

  • a wonderful song and video.....!!!

    5/5 ******** stars

    added to my favorites !!!!

thanks sunsets for the share !!!

  • Great Song & Vid!!! 5*s Thanks for sharing...Anita..

  • Great song and video! thanks!

  • !*****!

  • Enjoyed this! Cheers!

  • Perhaps the best Richard Clapton song. Always enjoyed this one...5*s

  • which beach did they film this?

    kurnell?

    the Shire?

  • Great Aussie classic...that does not get the recognition that it justly deserves.

  • Like this .

  • My memories of this is being in Festival Studios with Richard and the gang coming up with those slide guitar parts. I still play the same old Stratocaster. Ah, yes, the good ol' days.

    Kirk Lorange

  • Kirk, it's great to hear from you. If you type 'we love donnie Kirk Lorange' in your youtube search engine, you'll see an interview you did with Donnie Sutherland way back in '83 - in fact, the entire show you were on (New Year's Eve, 1983) is up on youtube.

The 'welovedonnie' is my other account, next to all my other nzoz channels.

  • Correction: 'welovedonnie kirk lorange'

  • Kirk, you are a legend! Your slide made me cry 30 years ago when I used to hang out with the musos on Heron Is in the Capricorn-Bunker group ... and it has again tonight.

  • lol... Maybe girl at 0.07 IS the Capricorn Dancer...been dancing on capricorn's head...

  • 0.07- 0.11 girl

looked like she used one of the guy's surfboards as a pad. haha.

  • i'm thinking the girl at 0:07 has a bad case of chafe.

  • I remember driving down to the beach in my hot Mazda R100 and driving down the coast when this song came on the radio. Whenever I here it now I immeadiately think of that moment and what I was doing and seeing and who I was with at the time. Was a time when I never had a worries in the world. TAKE ME BACK!!!!

  • Great song that always reminds of the long hot mid 70's summers.

  • Seems to me this song always reminds me of the hot, wet northern summer, around near Ballina where my ex girlfriend lives. I'm only 27 and love this song alot

  • mmm reminds me of a girl i used to know luv it arhhhhhhhhhhhhh memorys

  • Great song.

It looks like that girl that walks over to the horse has sand between her buttocks.

  • Yeah, i saw that - or a fork up her bum.

  • she's got something up there

  • One of my favorites from 1976.

My second all-time favorite is 'Flower Garden' by Nick Lampe, an obscure and little known song from 1970. It didn't achieve much success elsewhere, but was a moderate hit in Melbourne. It is fantastic, and such meaning-

    ful lyrics..

'One of these days, you're going to wake to find life gone...' in other words, don't waste life's opportunities.

There is a video of him singing it on Youtube,

    from a 1971 TV appearance.

    Don't miss it.

  • Very nice,

    Peace~~~Rod

  • Very nice song!

  • Nice song; pretty voice, thanks James!

  • Just great!! Thanks bigeezy for the share. (5*) Sherry

  • Ha Ha Ha - "My ass is killing me from that horse ride" - such a dreamy, romantic song then that line at the end, classic!

  • Little surfing section's are of tony "doris "elthington " shot in bali .

  • it just all seemed so much simpler back then.thanks nz.

  • Brilliant song and songwriter why he wasn,t internationally famous is an injustice when you see some of the rubbish manufactured by reality tv these days

  • he signed a dodgy contract way back in the 70's .

    so i believe!

  • @nzoz1976 ..hey noz...from whatever year you post them from...thankyou....thankyou so much for your efforts in uploading great aussie and nz music...the music is what helps us identify who we are..and who we want to be (how we feel about our selves) so again...thankyou..each clip is a map of the past the now and future if how we are...long live oz!...

  • @lapalad : took the words right out of my mind.. Richard Clapton was one of the most underrated singer/songwriter on the international scene! wasted talent!.. I'd like to think that we , here in Aust were privileged to be a part of some of the most wonderful and memorable acts like RC. I was so fortunate to see him perform live in Melbourne back in the mid 70's. Many thanks for posting this great act.

  • @whoosh1965 Great minds think alike mate cheers

  • this guy is so under rated. He deserves a lot more recognition than he gets.

  • Great song same star sign as me capricorn and i love dancing just the song for me, love shirlsxx

  • @shirls2 Yes im a capricorn too and so is my baby daughter, ive always thought this song was perfect for me as i used to dance up a storm when i was younger!

  • Pure AUSSIE.

  • wonderful stuff! Clapton has that wonderful knack of defining the Australian spirit - with a distinctive, crisp and accessible Australian sound!!

  • @Toyboy789 Man, I don't hear it! Big RC fan, but I thought he was right into the gentle SoCalifornia sound and he always had a kinda american accent in his singing!

  • Great clip and great memories from the mid 70's.

  • Takes me back to Byron Bay where this was filmed. I used to ride the buckskin named Danny. Fabulous to see all the horses and beach again in this clip.

  • "...underneath a thousand miles of sky"

"....clears my head and eased my worried mind"

classic - thanks for the post. Shame the beginning is cut off!

    cheers

  • fuck that was great ///ha its me dave

  • They should re-release the soundtrack too

  • can't ya just feel Summer coming on? Yeah I'll shut up now.... :P

  • 'It's Almost Summer' and this song are both a great calling for this coming season.

  • What movie is this from? It's very 'Morning of the Earth'.

    Which is a good thing!

  • The movie is Highway One.
