I went to shop looking tvs and can say Philips tvs make perfect picture quality with a crap cable!I spend more than 1 hour in shop.

anything over 42' i would go with a plasma

plasmas only come in 42'+ size they have way higher contrast ration which means more detailed blacks, high speed shots like sports and action movies are alot smoother, the picture is sharper where LCD is brighter , they have way better response times the best LCD's have about 2-4ms plasmas have about 0.01ms

LCD are good for gaming and plasmas more for movies, LCD have no glare so there good in bright rooms,produce less heat and use alittle less power

You want to get the best LCD, buy the Sony XBR 46" or if you have a higher budget, go for the 55". This tv came out last year with starting price of $7000. You will find it now for about $2,500 for the 46" and $3,800 for the 55". Go to Sony online and look at the brands. I highly recommend this tv.

i would probably take sony or samsung,they both offer you good quality and sound, lg is good but not as good as sony and samsung,sony being my best i might buy myself a sony,but i was in the market and saw great samsung's,i think you should check some samsung's and sony's out
