You have to love how people are going to -entirely- ignore whether or not this will be a good movie. Instead, they refuse to watch it because Dan doesn't have a pot-belly.
Zack Snyder has his own agenda - and his own owrld view - its only inevitable that he would promote his point of view rather and completely hijack the Alan Moore worldview.
Snyder has no talent creatively speaking -- he is just a thief with a camera pretending to be an artist...he's not a Scorcese, or Francis Ford Coppola, Stanley Kubrick etc.. Those Directors had vision and dont compromise their arrtistic vision regardless of corporate backers
I wanted to give Snyder the benefit of the doubt when I saw the set and he said things like, "this is a one camera show" (Blake's apartment) but I think I gave up when I heared Rorschack's voice and when he was flying through the air. Then everything seemed to be about "WHAM!" "BAM!" "SOCK!" "POW!" cue to themesong, "Waaatchme-hn! Whoooo waaaatches th-iii-eee Watchmen", take it away Blake... whacka whacka whacka (80's guitar solo). Bates' score to 300 was supposedly an Elliot Goldenthal rip-off.
You didn't even have to dig that deep to find the reasons why the movie will have very little to do with the actual comics. Moore was commenting on 80's politics and the struggle between superpowers, I can hear Sting's Russians in the back of my head - "Mr Kruschev say we will bury you", "Mr Reagan say we will protect you", "I don't subscribe to this point of view" (and that from a simple popsong) - but Snyder & c:o only have to make "their Superhero adaptation" among all the other adaptations.
It's not that the movie doesn't need to be "exactly" like the comic, it will not be like the comic despite the basic look of some of the characters, their names and some of the plot but most of the comic will not be there. Under the hood is out so most literally references is cut and the background will be shortened and maybe, at least in the cinema, even the Black Freighter will be cut for time. I guess it will resemble that joke about Watchmen Kids from the Simpsons episode.
Watchmen has a message to convey about violence and its escalation being rooted in noble intentions.
Moores story sports the difference between helping being and looking for excuses to cause inflict harm on others.
This movie has already shown by exaggerating the violence levels that it doesn't understand why those scenes are the way they are, nor what they have to say.
Geez. Name ONE movie that's exactly like the book.
Oh, I can. TWILIGHT. And that was TERRIBLE.
Just because you can't keep every single little detail doesn't mean mean the movie will be bad. Yes, they will have to change things. Some things just can NOT be translated from comic book to movie- especially things such as The Black Freighter, and all those news articles between chapters of the comic.
Don't get your panties in a wad. So what if it won't be accurate. Can still be a good movie.
Nice try, Have a nice day. That was a complete translation of the book, and 100% accurate, Nothing changed.
Having a problem with the fact that Nite owl is NOT fat, and the chracters arent older looking, is NOT a fanboy situation, Its a huge portion of the characterization of the heroes, And you obviously dont see that. Comparing, or even the fact that you've read and seen twilight, RUINS your credibility
Hmn. Just got finished watching Watchmen. Dan remains a complete nerd who's awkward around Silk Spectre's sex appeal, and you know what? He did it without a pot belly.
My biggest complaint with the movie is that Adrian Veidt and Dr Manhattan did not have that slight sense of kinship that seemed to be there in the graphic novel.
Face it. You're a geek that cries over a pot belly.
You have no clue how dumb your Sin City comment was. First off- Sin City, was a compilation of several DIFFERENT comic books, and thus, just as inaccurate as the lack of a gut.
Second, you're talking about a FRANK MILLER graphic novel. Oh, HUGE challenge to adapt to the big screen, given their intricate and highly sub-textual plot, right? Such as shooting badguys. And saving hookers. And shooting badguys while saving hookers. Frank Miller is easy to adapt to big screen. It's pure violence.
Let me guess, I own ALL the novels, and I know that they blended then together since they wouldnt be able to fill the entire movie with any ONE of the books. So...Have fun being wrong
Okay. So basically, you just said "Yes, you're right that they mixed several comic books together, rather than making a direct adaptation of Sin City. Have fun being wrong!"
You're doing nothing but confirming exactly what I just said every time you hit that little "Post Comment" button. You should really just give up.
There are stories OTHER than Sin City in the movie Sin City. Hell, if you wanna be nit-picky as say, someone whining over a beer gut, that makes it -extremely- inaccurate to Sin City.
And you still haven't mentioned anything about my argument that Frank Miller's violence is an easy adaptation compared to Alan Moore's genius.
is this like the set of a movie or something

@TheJokezOnYou It's the fact that it was purposely changed for no reason that's bothering people.

the watchmen movie does not have to be exactly like the comic.

Hey. NOT innacurate at all. They were DIFFERENT STORIES, intertwined with the same characters.
Do you know ANYTHING about Sin city,. Obviously you DONT
