The name of that ugly and talentless cunt shouldn't even be written in the same alphabet as Pink Floyd, motherfuckers. Cut the shit and learn to respect real genius.
I think the comic book is what keeps it fresh in our heads, every few years you see it and it brings it all back. What a crazy little book it is too. then as MrBluePlate said, SNACK, could you have a weirder collection of bands playing and then throw in Bob Hope, Willy Mays and the rest. So I was 17 still when this show happened, where did you live and go to school. I bet at some show we passed each other and sighed a big sigh of common knowledge and amazement
As MrBluePlate said below but I was 16, some of my friends were busted the same day, silly cops. Lots of windowpane then, wouldn't it be nice to see it again? This was an awesome show in the midst of a turbulent time for PF. Big changes were just around the corner. They still played the earlier stuff as well as the newest stuff. Glad you found the Blue barrel, we had liquid, in the eyes, nose mouth. Censer that G-man and your stinking SOPA PIPA.
I was 14 and had gone to the SNACK Sunday Kezar Stadium 2 weeks prior to this show; dropped 1 hit of windowpane, young brain swirling brain with Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Dead, Starship...epic, but was busted on the way home- cop found a lid in front pocked, parents came to station to get me, M&D grounded me for a month oohh that didn't last. Time off for good behavior: Went to this show and dropped some blue barrel with my brother. WOW What a show. They played the entire DSOTM, this was the encore
the saxophone really adds a nice touch to the piece, but why on earth did they decide to stuff the whole piece to the gills with these awful backing vocals? I mean, I can tolerate them on "Dark Side", but they really destroy the surreal atmosphere of this psychedelic masterwork. sorry - not too enjoyable.
@hedgerow215 I agree. I always hated the backing vocals as well. It takes away from the main members' wonderful masterpiece. Why in the hell would you want to sh*t it up with backing vocals?
grew up in columbus they had a station here called wwrh rock 105 an they played this song in the morning for a long time sad so few heard of this station what great memories of this rick
American audiences yell at concerts because, unfortunately, in our culture it is considered cool to behave like a disturbed baboon when gathered for entertainment purposes.
David pushes the button and up we go. We get into the bar and they go off in their own area and David says to the waiter, they're NOT WITH US! So, we went to another table about 20 ft. away and I just couldn't believe the night I had just experienced. I ordered a Tequila Sunrise minus the Tequila, because I loathe alcohol and we sat there for about 30 minutes. David was getting very annoyed and sorta went into another world, kinda like he does in the Pompeii dvd. He doesn't enjoy conflict at all.
I am standing in the crowd with 2 of my friends and we are right behind the mixing desk. Roger Waters' new girlfriend has been visiting with us all night and then they come back and do Echoes for an encore of a 3 hr+ concert. After the show we decide we will meet Pink Floyd and follow their 4 limos into San Francisco and up to the bar of the Sir Francis Drake Hotel, where they were staying. When we get into the elevator somebody says push top floor please to me. To be continued due space rules.
same studio as the beatles for their first album for fucks sake,
john heard interstellar overdrive down the corridor and so up the corridor they wrote sgt peppers while down the corridor, The Pink Floyd bashed out their first album, it was the loudest music john lennon had ever heard....
this was super upper class, above even the stones....
i can't believe the audience is actually hollaring like they're at an ac/dc concert as this subtle opening notes of this masterpiece fade in. this is music you're supposed to just listen to and think about lmfao
@Lambrechtsen but it's a deep and thoughtful laugh off of the ass. more of a hu-hu *sips fine wine* hu-hu. and who am i fucking kidding i'd be leading the charge of screaming idiots if i got to hear this live when floyd were at their peak lmfao (or is it hu-hu . . .)
IT is very Interesting that you speak thusly, for I have found this song to be an example of Pantheistic Philosophy, this notion being rooted in the second verse "two strangers..." But DarkSide is one hundred percent Ontological Metaphysics, which could most certainly be existential or, as I kind of prefer, phenomonological. Regardless the three likely over lab in bits, and Pink Floyd is--to use the tiered truism associated with them--"Deep man, pass it to the left"
@0SierraMaestra0 I'm a little dicey on qualitative semantics = you say "phenomenological" and I say "existential" and I'll meet you at the same concept in the morning! Seriously, tho', I lean more toward the interpretation of the "two strangers" as classic post WWI social & personal alienation. God's only place here is as a reminiscence at best. Let's get ahold of Roger and see what he says?! ;-)
Honestly I would guess the Floyd to have had no intention of alluding to any thing theological; I should have clarified that the notion within the song Reminds ME of my own philosophic inclinations. So I would have to agree "reminiscence at best". I would love to talk to Waters about it though; although I may find myself distracted by the subjects of Fly Fishing and Occupy Wall Street.
I´m glad to tell you that ,after some investigations,i´ve discovered Pink Floyd were playing Echoes on April 13 1975 at the exactly time i was born ;)

I sleep to pinkfloyd. I wake up listening to them, and so I continue as I go about my day. I am never sad. ANd my immune system is impeccable. I do not worry about money or time. I just listen and listen and listen and listen and listen and listen and listen and listen and listen and listen and listen and listen and listen and listen and listen and listen and listen and listen and listen and listen and listen and listen and listen and listen and listen and listen and listen and listen and hear
Never heard Echoes with a sax solo. Pretty amazing though. Shame about the bootleg sound quality. Pink Floyd really should have recorded more live material.
